Grand Touring All-Season tires are for drivers who want a combination of a sophisticated appearance, competent handling and H-speed rated (or higher) durability, along with all-season traction, including in light snow. Grand Touring All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on sophisticated coupes and luxurious performance sedans.
O.E. Grand Touring All-Season tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Consumer experiences reveal the Continental ProContact GX excels in comfort, with many praising its smooth, quiet ride (scores 7-10), though some note occasional road noise. Treadwear receives mixed feedback, with several reports of premature wear (scores 0-3) offset by a few positive mentions. Winter traction shows inconsistency, with adequate light-snow performance but struggles on ice and deep snow (scores 2-5 common). Wet traction earns praise for reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance (7-9 range), though a few users report reduced confidence in heavy rain. Dry traction stands out as a strength, with high marks (7-10) for responsive handling and stable cornering, aligning well with its grand touring purpose.

...They are quiet, track extremely well on dry roads and wet (monsoon rain storm), and stick in hard cornering on a variety of surfaces...
It seems that all the drivers who rate this tire poorly have the same thing in common - they all drive Subaru Outbacks. The two drivers who drive something else, both rate the tires 4.5. Is it possible the tires aren't compatible with Subaru Outbacks or does Subaru "spec" the tire (the Walmart syndrome) for their vehicles and their tires may be inferior to "off the shelf" tires?
I have only 3000 miles on my new XE (which explains why I can't rate the tires in snow, but I do live on a mountain in TN so I will provide an update this winter - and from current experience I expect they will do well in snow) but so far the tires have been excellent! They are quiet, track extremely well on dry roads and wet (monsoon rain storm), and stick in hard cornering on a variety of surfaces. I am curious as to the mileage I will see due to my driving style but so far, I would highly recommend the tires to anyone considering a purchase.
I was never nervous in wet or snow and the noise was noticeable and to us, acceptable...
I got 49,000 miles from these tires and they never spurred me to think that they were bad in any particular way. I was never nervous in wet or snow and the noise was noticeable and to us, acceptable. I did hit a nail and had the tire patched, and put a few thousand more miles on them without issue. More treadlife would have been nice, but getting almost 50,000 out of an OEM tire doesn't offend me. Not like the Kumhos that I had to replace on my wife's VW after 25,000 miles.
Replaced these with Goodyear Assurance Weatherready's and they are quieter than the Contis.
Most customers give positive scores (7-10) for dry traction, highlighting reliable grip and responsive handling. Some note lower scores (3-6), indicating occasional concerns.

...Light snow and slick roads along with the Subaru drive system best drive I've every had related to traction... To indicate traction I have never had a tire track so much into the garage...
Very impressed with these Subaru OEM tires. My rotated every 7k tires have even wear and will last over 50,000 miles. Light snow and slick roads along with the Subaru drive system best drive I've every had related to traction. Road noise is more subdued than my 2013 Toyota Highlander with 17 in Bridgestone 422's with similar mileage. The ProContacts road noise is also a a more pleasing lower pitch. To indicate traction I have never had a tire track so much into the garage. The tire is better than the ratings indicate.

...They ride smoothly and quietly, just as Consumer Reports testing showed. I am pleased so far... as I ride down the road listening to others car tires that are too loud...
I bought these Slovakian made tires based on Consumer Reports suggestion and testing. They ride smoothly and quietly, just as Consumer Reports testing showed. I am pleased so far... as I ride down the road listening to others car tires that are just too loud. Brushing curbs happens to novice drivers and will damage any tire so stop bumping curbs...and comparing car tires against jeep tires. I paid $120 each and had to special-order them.

...I am also surprised how well this vehicle rides over rutted unpaved roads and potholes, but I'm not sure whether I should credit the tires or the Subaru suspension. I suppose it doesn't matter. The combination makes for the best riding vehicle I've ever had when it comes to really crappy roads.
These are the OE tires on my Outback, and I already know I will replace them with the same model when it's time. I've had a Subaru before, and several 4WD trucks, but have never had a vehicle track like this one does in the snow. It's like having a 28 MPG tank at my command. We've had a lot of snow in the past couple of weeks and I am astounded at how this vehicle and tire combination shrugs it off. I am not an overly aggressive driver, but I can safely move faster in snow-covered lanes than other vehicles do on the mostly clear ones. I'm (almost) looking forward to more snow so I can these boys out there again, this time looking for especially difficult driving to see how they do. I am also surprised how well this vehicle rides over rutted unpaved roads and potholes, but I'm not sure whether I should credit the tires or the Subaru suspension. I suppose it doesn't matter. Customers report mixed winter traction with snow scores mostly 7-10 but ice/deep snow ratings drop to 0-6. While some praise snow performance, lower scores highlight concerns with ice grip and deeper snow handling.

...Snow/Ice traction is awful.
Started hearing humming noises around 20K miles and go worse with time. Turns out that 2 of my 4 tires did not wear evenly. This created loud noises / harmonics between 30 to 50 mph, depending on the road. When new, the tires had bulges on the sidewalls. I did not take to dealership due to lack of time. Good thing they did not explode. Noticed a 1-2mpg improvement as the treads were near bald. This could be due to the tires or that fact that my oil burner (yes, there is a class action lawsuit for this vehicle) is starting to break-in. Eventhough I drive slower than average person, I can't imagine anybody else getting more than 50K miles on these tires. Snow/Ice traction is awful.

...Traction at this point is very poor on all but dry pavement... The worst part is breaking on snow and ice.
Significant tred wear at 25,000 - need replacing. Traction at this point is very poor on all but dry pavement. This is my 3rd Subaru and these are definitely the worst tires I have had - renders the great all-wheel drive useless. The worst part is breaking on snow and ice.

...These are what came on my 2016 Forester and I didn't really think much of it before so I just replaced them with the same tires when they were low tread last time at about 26k miles, but they need replaced again at about 22k miles and I'm tired of it. There's no reason I should have 3 different sets of tires before 50k miles...
I can't say I ever noticed anything particularly bad about these tires in terms of handling considering they're all season, but the treadwear is absolutely terrible. These are what came on my 2016 Forester and I didn't really think much of it before so I just replaced them with the same tires when they were low tread last time at about 26k miles, but they need replaced again at about 22k miles and I'm tired of it. There's no reason I should have 3 different sets of tires before 50k miles. It's not remotely worth the price to me. I wouldn't recommend these tires to anyone and I can't wait to replace them with something else that will actually last.
