Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The Pilot Sport GT M is Michelin's Racetrack and Autocross Only tire developed for a wide variety of vehicles looking for maximum performance to match their race-ready vehicles. They're built to deliver stable dry handling, repeatable lap performance, high grip levels, and the durability required for prolonged race events.

The Pilot Sport GT M is constructed with a high-friction racing compound engineered to optimize traction through prolonged racing sessions. Michelin's Track Longevity 2.0 helps preserve compound integrity under heat and sustained mechanical load during extended sessions, while reinforced shoulder architecture minimizes wear during aggressive cornering. Dynamic Response technology integrates aramid and nylon materials in a hybrid reinforcement layer to enhance steering precision by optimizing force distribution across the contact patch. Integrated tread wear indicators on the tire surface allow for rapid visual assessment of remaining treadlife.

Available in S7, S8 and S9 compounds to support a multitude of race events in different locales or ambient conditions.

Compound Surface Abrasivity Conditions Ground Temperature
+ ++ +++ Dry Damp Wet 0°C/32°F 5°C/41°F 10°C/50°F 15°C/59°F 20°C/68°F 25°C/77°F 30°C/86°F 35°C/95°F 40°C/104°F
S7 Soft
S8 Medium
S9 Hard

If you use a heater cabinet or tire warmers: the maximum heating temperature must not exceed the internal rolling temperature of the tires.

Above this temperature, the properties of the rubber can change and thus degrade performance.

The minimum warm-up time is 45 minutes to reach stabilization. The maximum heating time is 2 hours (beyond this, there is a risk of the rubber changing).

Michelin Pilot Sport GT M tires do not meet DOT requirements, and are not appropriate for roadway use. Michelin Pilot Sport GT M tires are not intended for driving in wet conditions where standing water is present and there is the risk of hydroplaning; drivers should drive cautiously at reduced speeds if they encounter these conditions. Like all Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, Pilot Sport GT M tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. It's essential these tires be stored indoors according to Michelin recommendations.

During storage and transport, the temperature must be higher than:

Circuit, Hill Climb and Classic Competition Range
Minimum Storage Temperature Minimum Transport Temperature
Slick 10°C/50°F 15°C/59°F
Wet 5°C/41°F 10°C/50°F

On Storage: Tires must not be subject to:

  • Direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight
  • Sources of extreme heat and humidity
  • Solvents, lubricants, fuels and other chemicals
  • Ozone emissions from equipment such as a transformer, welder, electric motor, etc.
  • Long-term storage in a stack.

Non-compliance with these storage recommendations may significantly reduce the period over which the tire retains its performance. The storage location must be dry, ventilated, out of direct light and kept solely for tires. Racks allowing tires to be stored vertically are to be used in order to avoid tension on the casings.

Note on Tire Aging: Michelin recommends using Michelin Competition tires within a maximum of 24 months following their date of purchase (within 4 months in the event of storage in severe tropical- type conditions) or within 12 months for wet tires.

Michelin Pilot Sport GT M vs Hoosier R7 – 2025 Test 4B(5:08)

Test 4B of the 2025 Tire Rack Testing Program is a first of its kind. We took a top-performing DOT Radial (commonly called R-Comp), the Hoosier R7, and compared it to a Circuit Race tire, a true “slick”, the Pilot Sport GT M. This particular GT M was outfitted in the S8 compound, as it comes in 3 different options. How much faster is a true racing slick? Watch to find out!

...After repeated wet road issues with the factory Goodyear Trailrunner AT, I ditched the tires for the Continental AT's. What a difference - ride and handling is a major improvement even in a heavy 3/4 ton crew cab diesel and wet road handling is wow wow wow, much better.

You would think that you would not feel that much of a difference between a new tire and a tire that has 19K on it. After repeated wet road issues with the factory Goodyear Trailrunner AT, I ditched the tires for the Continental AT's. What a difference - ride and handling is a major improvement even in a heavy 3/4 ton crew cab diesel and wet road handling is wow wow wow, much better.

...It's been very good in heavy rain with sane driving, and has been great even on standing water...

Overall I’m happy with this tire. It’s very quiet on the highway and I have no complaints about the dry grip and turning. I have very little experience with these tires driving off-road and in mud since my vehicle is not a true off-road vehicle. It’s been very good in heavy rain with sane driving, and has been great even on standing water. We’ve had a lot of snow in Wisconsin this year and performance on cleared roads has been very good. However, on unplowed roads and snow over about 4” this tire has not been great, which is not surprising given it’s really a highway tire. I generally avoid driving on ice and slid down an icy boat ramp when I tried to drive on one. I have gotten stuck in deep snow even in 4WD with the differential locked. I think it really looks more aggressive than it performs in snow. Overall I’m confident on wet and dry roads with this tire.

Great AT tire for mud snow ice travel...

Great tread design, not noisy. Great AT tire for mud snow ice travel. Very aggressive tread lugs, but has a 2 big channels for hydroplaning issues. I did lots of research on Goodyear, Cooper,Toyo, Nitto, or Ironman, 2nd choice was Nitto Ridge Grapler.

It came with TOYO Open Country II HT. I got 58,000 on the TOYOs, but needed extra grip while off road.

...They handle water well, and are terrific on dry pavement and off-road on dirt, mud or rocks...

This is my third set of these tires and they continue to perform superbly. They're not the best in snow, but I'm not driving on snowy roads often so it doesn't matter. They handle water well, and are terrific on dry pavement and off-road on dirt, mud or rocks. Very quiet on the highway. Treadwear is excellent, with my first set lasting 70K. I tend to replace a little early so I have good tires on sharp rocks when off-road. In three sets I've only had one flat when I picked up a nail, despite driving on 2-tracks in the Southwest on sharp rocks.

Great tire that outlast last cheap non branded tire. Purchased due to heavy loads that it could carry. Used to tow trailer and it handled it great. Also wear was minimal over time considering my Toyota Sequoia weight including the trailer. Handled great in mountain terrain . Did notice more pronounce noise due to its AT rating . In deep snow and mud it also performed well however these tires did not performed great on slippery roads like ice or packed snow. Overall i did like these tires .

Racetrack & Autocross Only Tires – 2025 Test 4C(16:15)

The demands track drivers have of Racetrack & Autocross Only tires can vary as much as the tire options themselves, so what better way to test than to run them on a dedicated road course? Of the six in this test, we have one tried and true staple in the R-Comp world, two newcomers, two popular choices, and a full, non-DOT-approved full racing slick. Leaving no stone unturned, or maybe no corner unturned, this test gives racers the information to make the best choice for their needs. Check it out!
