The TrueContact Tour 54 is Continental's Standard Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of a wide range of vehicles: including coupes, crossovers, minivans, family sedans and even electric vehicles (EVs) looking for long tread life, dependable traction and quiet comfort 365 days a year. TrueContact Tour 54 tires are engineered to bring the reliable assurance of a premium touring tire together with long-lasting, confident grip in dry, wet and wintry conditions, including light snow.

Discoverer Stronghold AT callouts

The all-season tread compound of the TrueContact Tour 54 is designed with Tg-F polymers, which increase compound bonding for improved tire wear, lower rolling resistance, and greater efficiency for both traditional fuel sources and battery-powered drivetrains. The symmetric pattern includes twin central ribs for confident straight-line tracking and a solid on-center feel alongside stable tread blocks in the shoulders for lateral grip and high-speed handling. Continental's +Silane additives augment traction in slippery conditions, bolstered by sweeping grooves and deep circumferential channels to shunt and displace water to resist hydroplaning. Sipes throughout the tread design provide biting edges for grip in wet, icy, and snowy conditions, helped in large part by the traction grooves nestled within the circumferential channels to trap snow in the tread for superior snow-to-snow traction.

The internal construction of the TrueContact Tour 54 features a single ply, polyester casing with dual steel belts reinforced by a polyamide overlay for enhanced durability and high-speed uniformity.

Customers Say

Owners report excellent performance across key categories for this all-season touring tire. Treadwear receives consistent praise, with many noting long-lasting tread life even after extended use. Comfort stands out with a smooth, quiet ride that minimizes road noise. Winter traction earns strong marks in snow and slush, though some report reduced confidence on ice. Wet traction scores highly with reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance in rainy conditions. Dry traction consistently earns top marks (9-10 range) for confident handling and responsive steering. While most categories show outstanding ratings, a few drivers mention ice performance as the only area needing improvement, aligning with typical all-season tire expectations.

I purchased these for my wifes Honda Accord. We always had Continentals but she was hesitant because these are a new "model". So far she has been happy with them. She said they ride smooth and there not noisy at all. Winter traction was good considering she didnt drive it too much in the snow. As for rain .. She is happy. Braking was good to in the rain. Im happy she is happy!

...They got good noise comfort on top of the great wet and dry traction...

The tires are surprisingly good. Particularly I got a huge improvement on the road comfort coming from Ventus Concept2. They got good noise comfort on top of the great wet and dry traction. For what I got these tires for, they exceed my expectations for an overall ride comfort.

...We had an ice storm shortly after fitting them, and I was able to make it home safely. These won't match studded winter tires, but I was able to take it easy and pass several vehicles that were stuck and unable to make it up hills. We haven't gotten a ton of snow yet this year, but during a couple of smaller storms, it's clear that my car is able to handle and accelerate better than the average car on the road...

These tires replaced the OE Michelin Energy Saver A/S tires that came on the car from the factory. From day one, I was unhappy with the traction that those tires provided. Snow and ice traction was originally adequate at best, and it was getting dangerous by the end. Dry traction improved as the tread wore down and squirm was reduced, but even then, the wheels could slip when turning out into traffic and accelerating hard. I did a lot of research before settling on these tires.

These tires are a massive improvement in all traction conditions. We had an ice storm shortly after fitting them, and I was able to make it home safely. These won't match studded winter tires, but I was able to take it easy and pass several vehicles that were stuck and unable to make it up hills. We haven't gotten a ton of snow yet this year, but during a couple of smaller storms, it's clear that my car is able to handle and accelerate better than the average car on the road. Finally, during the 99% of the time that we have sunny and dry weather here in Colorado, the handling is vastly improved.

One thing that was very hard to research and compare was efficiency. Because range is important for EVs, I used Leaf Spy Pro to record the energy usage on a test route under carefully controlled conditions just before replacing the tires, and I just repeated the test after about 800 miles of driving. The energy usage with these new tires was higher by just 0.4% (about 1 mile of range lost on a full charge). That is well within the margin of error for the test, and thus I'd call it a draw. To get significantly better traction at no cost to efficient is exceptional.

The one notable penalty is road noise. These don't drone like winter or off-road tires, but I hear bumps and cracks in the road more than with the OE tires. It was most obvious at first, and I might not have noticed it at all in a louder gas car. Overall, this is a very reasonable price to pay.

...I had these tires installed at the beginning of winter and so far I am happy with performing on snow, slush, dry, and mixed precipitation roads. I'm impressed with the performance and comfort of these tires. I had these tires installed at the beginning of winter and so far I am happy with the way they are performing on snow, slush, dry, and mixed precipitation roads. Granted I have all-wheel drive and it doesn't take much to get my car moving, but compared to other all-season tires, these are pretty great. Patchy black ice roads are not too bad with these tires, you get a bit of side shift back and forth on the ice and it feels like you are driving a slot car. If I turn a little too fast in the snow, these tires can loose grip somewhat but I can step into the throttle a bit and they will bite the road surface again. The tires have a smooth ride and give a confident feeling on dry pavement, plus they seem to handle dry braking well. Also, braking in snow is also quite confident, albeit with obvious limitations since these tires are not dedicated snow tires. So far the only quirky thing about these tires is the interesting road hum. These tires are relatively quiet on smooth pavement, however the tread makes a lightly audible low rumble noise similar to the sound of knobby off-road tires on lifted pickup trucks. If you have a vehicle with good road noise isolation you probably will not be able to hear this rumble. Fuel mileage with these tires seem to be within spec or better than what my vehicle is suppose to get, granted I had worn out Blizzaks on this vehicle before changing over to these tires. Overall, these tires are smooth, grippy, and perform well for all season touring tires. I hope they last and continue to perform acceptably once they have a little more wear on the tread.

Great set of tires so far! Ride well in both wet and dry. Perform well in the cold as well (tried at 37 F as of now).

Noise is comparable to my old set of tires, and economy seems great too, even when new.

...The breaking distance on dry pavement seems to be shorter and quicker to stop as expected...

Just dropped 1,702 miles on the four new tires for this review. Currently feeling content and satisfied with the purchase made in early May 2025. The tires have been driven on both city/highway and rain/dry conditions at slow and fast speeds. My 2021 Mazda CX-5 with 52,295 miles is tracking straight, maybe from the recent alignment with the installation of the new tires, but straight none the less. The vehicle feels comfortable and easy to handle as the new treads definitely dampens small to medium sized potholes for a smoother ride. Drove the tires through some standing water along the highway at ~60Mph and didn't observe any hydroplaning. The newness also contributes to a quieter ride at fast and slow speeds. The breaking distance on dry pavement seems to be shorter and quicker to stop as expected. In conclusion: it appears that the tires are working as advertised. I also have high performance Continentals strapped on my Mazdaspeed3 and those work exceptionally well for me also. I probably wouldn't have switched to Continentals if it hadn't been for my Master Mechanic friend with over 40 years of experience providing the recommendation.

...These are almost equal in terms of comfort and traction to the michelins with a bit more road noise, but hardly any... Too, the driving style promoted by a DeVille is rather insulative and not exactly engaging. Meaning, the smoother, less-responsive, the better...

I really enjoy the tires and they are very competitively priced. I am biased to continental ExtremeContacts which I have had on two cars before acquiring my DeVille from my grandfather who left his last set of michelins on there from 2013. These are almost equal in terms of comfort and traction to the michelins with a bit more road noise, but hardly any. I would have loved a gold stripe to match the pinstripe on my vehicle, but the white is a nice touch.

Too, the driving style promoted by a DeVille is rather insulative and not exactly engaging. Meaning, the smoother, less-responsive, the better. Steering, road feel, etc. are all sluggish and soft in the car as-is, and it's nice that the tires do not interfere with that.

From what I see on the Tire Rack website , this is the Only set of Eco Focus tires available with over an 800 Treadwear in my tire size. I am quite amazed at how quiet these tires are with such a high treadwear rating and the ride comfort is incredible along with a price much better than all other high mileage tires, I have a very low profile tire with w 40 series sidewall and they don't feel harsh at All. Continental has developed a Technology here that No Other Tire company has discovered as of yet, the Michelin Defender only has a B traction rating, while continental has an A Traction rating, no explanation needed. There is Virtually no road noise at Any Speed. My previous set was the GoodYear Assurance MaxLife, their best Tire, they made the treadwear warranty getting 83k out of 85k miles, but did get louder after 60k miles. Ride comfort wasn't as good. Anyone purchasing the CONTINENTAL TRUECONTACT TOUR 54 will Not be disappointed and will probably be impressed as I was, Technology in Tires has come a long way just in the last 20 years.
