The Discoverer Road+Trail AT is Cooper's On-Road All-Terrain tire, built for the drivers of pickups, work vehicles, and SUVs who need a tire with the rugged durability to keep up with their active lifestyles. Engineered to tackle dirt, gravel, mud and the urban jungle, the Discoverer Road+Trail AT combines off-road prowess with agreeable on-road comfort and year-round traction. It even handles light snow well enough that it meets the tire industry's severe snow service rating requirements and earns the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
A durable compound resistant to cutting, cracking and tearing joins with the Discoverer Road+Trail AT's next-generation all-terrain tread pattern. This design features rugged, interlocking tread blocks off-roaders expect working alongside Cooper's Road Glide Technology to provide a smooth, quiet experience on the pavement. The alternating scoop and cleat lugs in the shoulder, sporting a thick, angled design further down the sidewall, were created to find grip on rock, in thick mud or loose soil. Deep, circumferential grooves and wide, lateral notches improve resistant to hydroplaning. The interlocking center tread lugs provide stability on the road and snow, while zigzag sipes in the shoulders create the biting edges needed for traction in slippery conditions.
The internal construction of the Discoverer Road+Trail AT consists of a robust, two-ply polyester casing. A single-ply, nylon reinforcement above two high-strength steel belts further increases durability and handling response, along with providing high-speed stability.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...Additionally my area has experienced very heavy rains this Spring and I have had no hydroplaning at all and have yet to break the tires loose in any condition. The grip is very impressive.
I installed the Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT on my Jeep just before the snow started to fall. Very glad I did. These tires did exceptionally well in the winter elements. I had no trouble navigating thru 3-4 inches of snow confidently and in control. Additionally my area has experience very heavy rains this Spring and I have had no hydroplaning at all and have yet to brake the tires loose in any condition. The grip is very impressive. I have also taken them on a few 100+ mile road trips and the ride is just as good as a highway tire, very comfortable and smooth. Very happy with them.

...Haven't tried in deep snow yet but hooked up fine on a snowy and icy off road driveway without 4 wheel drive. Usually have to use 4 wheel drive to get out...
Tires are some of the lightest weight tires in this class. Super quiet on road, while being solid to hook up off road. Been amazed at how quiet and mannerly these are compared to the Falken AT3s these replaced. Haven’t tried in deep snow yet but hooked up fine on a snowy and icy off road driveway without 4 wheel drive. Usually have to use 4 wheel drive to get out. Very impressed so far.

...Drove through a blizzard that dropped about 15 inches of snow and was very impressed with their traction...
Have only had them for a few months, but in the dead of winter. Drove through a blizzard that dropped about 15 inches of snow and was very impressed with their traction. I was worried about the road noise with the aggressive tread, but there is no difference from the tires that originally came on the truck. Love the tires, will definitely keep running them.

...The Cooper has been awseome for the light snow we've been getting in Michigan. I'd have needed 4x4 with the Hankook AT but the Cooper had amazing grip in 4x2...
No wonder this is the #1 rated tire in the catagory. Extremely satisfied with its performance and improvement over the Hankook Dynapro AT2 that comes stock on F150. I had over 200,00 miles on sets of Hankook Dynapro AT2 and was consistenly disappointed. The Cooper has been awseome for the light snow we've been getting in Michigan. I'd have needed 4x4 with the Hankook AT but the Cooper had amazing grip in 4x2. I've towed my cargo trailer filled with sleds flawlessly. I've driven on tight and steep off-road trails covered in deep snow. The sand road leading to my cabin used to need 4x4 but the Cooper AT easily manages. If my MPGs dropped, it hasn't been noticable yet...the slightly larger diameter probably offsets the extra 16 lbs of rotating weight. My wife knows nothing about automotive and instanly said the truck felt so much safer and in control. I'd buy these again tomorrow.

Customers overwhelmingly rate dry traction with 9s and 10s, highlighting confident grip and responsive handling. A few scores around 7-8 note rare minor concerns, but performance excels in all-terrain conditions.

...The Cooper Discoverer is great in heavy rain and provides excellent dry traction... Tires feel very secure and more connected to the road than my old Hankook's. They are responsive to steering inputs and feel very smooth on asphalt and concrete highways.
Bought my truck new with Hankook Dynapro Extreme AT2 tires. Changed to the Cooper Discoverer Road/Trail AT to get better tread wear and more traction in off road and inclement weather conditions. The Cooper Discoverer is great in heavy rain and provides excellent dry traction.
The tire ride is a little less refined than prior tires. However, the difference is very slight. Very low noise at highway speed and a slight whistling sound at low speeds ( -30 mph). Tires feel very secure and more connected to the road than my old Hankook's. They are responsive to steering inputs and feel very smooth on asphalt and concrete highways. They absorb the expansion joints between concrete sections on interstate highways well. Very smooth and quiet ride.
The Discoverer has excellent wet traction and resist hydroplaning even at highway speeds ( 65 - 75 mph ) in heavy rain.

...The dry traction is impressive, providing a stable and confident feel on highways and city streets...
Recently installed a set of the Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT on my Cherokee. The dry traction is impressive, providing a stable and confident feel on highways and city streets, while its wet traction is equally reliable. The tire grips well in wet conditions, which gives me the confidence for safe handling on rain-soaked roads without slipping or hydroplaning. One of the features that initially stood out is its ride comfort; the tire absorbs road imperfections smoothly, delivering a quieter, more relaxed driving experience compared to the other all-terrain tires I've driven on. The Cooper is also a rated for Severe Snow with the 3 peak mountain snow flake symbol, and I look forward to see how well they do in the winter time. The tire looks great on a Jeep as well.

...They are good looking, quiet, comfortable, and as far as I can tell, they perform well in most all conditions...
I bought these Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail ATs in size 275/60/20 for my 2017 Tundra. They replaced Goodyear Workhorse HTs that were a size smaller at 275/55/20. The Goodyear tires were fine, but I wanted something better and more suitable for off-road trails and snow. I also wanted to size up a bit from factory spec because my truck has a 2" leveling kit and I felt I needed to fill up that wheel well a bit more for a better appearance.
By sizing up I added about 4 lbs per tire, which after doing some calculations to account for the size difference, appears to have had a minimal impact on gas mileage. Maybe lost a half mile per gallon of gas. I know some people have stated that they have lost 1 or 2 mpg by switching to these Coopers. I have to wonder if they switched from a standard load tire to a higher load rated tire. Many of the Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail AT sizes come in XL load ratings, which adds significant weight to the tires. In my particular size, I was able to stay with the standard load (SL) rated tire which is what I wanted. I don't tow anything and don't haul very heavy loads.
I've only put 1,250 miles on these tires, but I've driven them in most conditions that I will be encountering. They seem to perform great on wet or dry pavement. I have taken them out on some off-road dirt trails which included some steep and rocky inclines and they performed really well there too. Lastly, I have taken them up to the mountains with about 6" of snow. The roads were already plowed, but my driveway was covered with hard packed icy snow. Driveway is at approximately 15 degree incline. I did need 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway, but I was impressed with the controlled feeling going up and down the driveway, with minimal sliding around.
In summary, I am very happy with these tires. They are good looking, quiet, comfortable, and as far as I can tell, they perform well in most all conditions. Hopefully they wear well. Time will tell on that.

...My stock wheels with these tires have around 15k miles on them and hardly show signs of wear...
This is my 2nd set of Road & Trails. I loved my first set so much, when I decided to get new wheels to wrap them in the same ones. My stock wheels with these tires have around 15k miles on them and hardly show signs of wear. I’ve been nothing less than impressed with how they’ve performed in everything from dry interstate driving to 7+ inches of snow on mountain roads. Probably the best performing AT I’ve ever had.
