I was looking for a tire that would excel in the rain, be good in the snow and still be good during the summer months. This tire does that and more!

Strong winter traction with most snow/deep snow scores 8-10. Some ice traction scores between 5-7, but delivers reliable all-season capability for crossover/SUV touring use.

I was amazed at the performance of the tires in these snowy conditions, it was like the snow wasn't even there. The tires still slid...I mean you can't stop on pure ice without metal on your tires...but I slid much less and had control and was able to do evasive maneuvers on pure ice and drive around the car that was sitting perpendicular in my lane...
I bought these Cooper Discoverer SRX tires as replacement for Michelin LTX (which I considered the gold standard). These Cooper Discoverer SRX were less expensive. I purchased them in November in Colorado and immediately found myself on snowy roads, hard packed ice and highway driving at high speeds in several inches of falling snow. I was amazed at the performance of the tires in these snowy conditions, it was like the snow wasn't even there. I had someone slide through their red light and stop right in front of my lane of travel and I had to slam on the brakes right at the part of the intersection where it was packed to solid ice. The tires still slid...I mean you can't stop on pure ice without metal on your tires...but I slid much less and had control and was able to do evasive maneuvers on pure ice and drive around the car that was sitting perpendicular in my lane. They looked pretty scared and I avoided what would have been a T-bone accident between two heavy SUV's. My Lexus GX 470 is not a light vehicle. The tires were quiet all summer.

Tires were solid performers when I purchased them last summer. Updating the review after going through winter and another summer.
The tires performed extremely well during a very snowy winter of 2022/2023 in Northern Nevada. Light snow was absolutely no problem for them. They also performed very well in medium to heavy snow (4+ inches). In one instance, a family member’s AWD car with new Nitto brand tires was stuck in a driveway covered in med/heavy snow that my 4x4 Jeep with the Coopers had no problem driving on. I did not get stuck even once the entire winter. Very impressive.
The second summer I noticed that my gas mileage was back to normal after being lower when the tires were new. I assume the tries needed a little wear. Also, tire pressure remained very consistent over the entire year.
I am very impressed with these tires and I feel better knowing that they are a higher load tire when I am pulling a trailer with the Jeep. I will definitely be buying again.

...There is no question that the SRXs are GREAT in the snow and on ice. I was just driving through 7-8" of unplowed snow and through plowed lines of around 12" ... no issues at all! Last week I did breaking tests on ice .. certainly better than the old tires...
Tires were expensive (like everything else) last summer. The Discoverer SRXs were not my first choice, honestly they were my fourth choice, but two things made me by them; 1) TireRama has them, and they are in the neighborhood for easy of rotation, and 2) after a rough spring, they were cheapest on my list.
- The SRXs are noiser than my previous TigerPaws and the ride feels a little rougher. I listed my driving style as Spirited, and I do like to go faster in the corners than most people will go in a 3900 lbs Venza, and while they don't squeal, that also are not as sticky as the TigerPaws.

Last week I did breaking tests on ice .. certainly better than the old tires. Two tests of starting from a dead stop on super-slick packed snow/ice stopping on steep hills .. the AWD light barely came on and she went right up the hill, no problem.
Would I buy these again? As long as I live in the northlands where we have periodic snow and frequent icy roads for six months of the year, yes. If I moved south hmmmmm prolly not.

...They seem to have great traction on pavement and light dirt. I feel very confident driving with these...
I waited a few months before I reviewed these tires. After 2,500 miles I found the following:
PROS: Very sticky and stable tires. No quality or noise issues at all, they are fairly quiet. They seem to have great traction on pavement and light dirt. I feel very confident driving with these. I bought these tires almost exclusively to get better winter/snow traction and I will update the review once winter arrives. Also, they are good looking tires after detailing my car and using ArmorAll on them.
CONS: Loss of 2.5 to 3 MPG on road trips. I take 240 mile, mostly highway trips very consistently every 2 weeks. On the previous OEM Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus tires I was seeing between 22.5 to 22.9 MPG on these road trips. In the 5-6 trips since I changed to the Cooper tires I am now seeing between 19.5 to 20 MPG on the same trips under the same conditions. Not impressed by that and it is going to cost me ~10% more in fuel costs.
MISC: The tires do lose tire pressure when the temp drops. At 75 degrees (F) I set the tires to 44 PSI. During road trips they go up to 46-47 PSI. When the temp drops to below 40 degrees (F) the tire pressures drop to around 40 PSI. This is not necessarily a bad thing for winter because a lower pressure means more of the tire is contacting the road for better traction.
I am not sure if I would buy these tires again because of the poor MPG after installing them, but I am stuck with them for a few years in any case. If they have better traction in winter than the previous Bridgestone Ecopia tires than I will be ok with the purchase, but if they are the same then I should have just stuck with the OEM tires.

...Dry traction has never caused me to raise an eyebrow. My FX35 corners with far more confidence than I would have anticipated...
It is hard to determine how much of my review is tire related and how much is vehicle related, but here we go, anyway. My FX35 had the Cooper SRXs on it when I bought it three and half years ago. They looked fairly new at the time but I have no way to verify that they were new. Since that time, I have added 51k miles onto them. If it were not for the upcoming winter months, I would not be replacing them yet as they still have a couple seasons of tread life left. Needless to say, I have been pleased with the tread wear, especially considering my slightly spirited driving style. The tires have seen a fairly even mix of highway and city driving. They also, on occasion, run on some rough, rocky dirt trails. Performance is exceptionally competent. My FX35 corners with far more confidence than I would have anticipated. Dry traction has never caused me to raise an eyebrow. Wet traction has been nearly as good. Snow & ice... Our roads are fairly well maintained in winter. That said, things are not quite as great as in dry conditions, but performance is what I'd rate as above average for winter conditions based on the vehicles I've had such experience with. Now that the time to replace the tires is approaching, Coopers are what I'm going with. Due to an outstanding price I caught on the Discoverer HT Plus, I will be going that route this time. I am hopeful performance will rival that of the SRX.

Customers overwhelmingly praise the Cooper Discoverer SRX's comfort, with most scoring ride quality and noise levels 9s and 10s. High marks highlight smooth handling and refined cabin experience, excelling in its intended Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season role. A few lower scores (0-6) suggest isolated concerns, but most drivers report excellent comfort.

...They are quite and comfortable and I would buy again...
I live near Buffalo Ny These Tires have been great. They come with a lot of tread depth which helps in the deep snow. Tread wear has been minimal with me putting on 15000 miles They are quite and comfortable and I would buy again. I even use them on the boat ramp witch is on a slippery incline with no problems.
