The ProControl is Cooper's Grand Touring All Season Tire designed for a wide-ranging variety of drivers behind the wheels of family sedans, sporty coupes, CUVs and SUVs looking for responsive handling that puts them firmly in control of their vehicle. Engineered to provide long treadlife and deliver confident traction in any kind of weather, even light snow.
Cooper's ProControl is crafted with an asymmetric all-season tread pattern designed to adapt to a variety of road conditions. The tire profile is optimized to evenly distribute weight along the contact patch to serve drivers with smooth, even wear. Sipes built to widen during the tire's wear life contribute to the ProControl's longevity-focused design by aiming to preserve handling over time. Four wide circumferential grooves rush water to the outer channels, evacuating it from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning. The higher sipe density in the center ribs delivers the biting edges necessary to maintain control in low-friction environments like snow and ice.
The internal construction of the ProControl is fashioned around keeping drivers in command, with its polyester body ply overlaid with angled steel belts to carry the strength and stiffness necessary for crisp steering response. The high turn-up polyester casing provides additional sidewall durability. A nylon reinforcement cap ply is vulcanized to the other belts to support handling responsiveness and high-speed capability.

The Unsung Heroes of the Daily Driver – 2024 Test 4 With Winter Update (29:18)
Ten touring all-season tires built to handle everyday commuters’ needs take their turn on a car built to do the same, a 2025 Toyota Camry. Our testing team assesses strengths and tradeoffs and ranks them top-to-bottom to help you determine which is right for you. This updated version includes our 2024 winter testing!
Owners report excellent comfort with smooth ride quality and low noise levels, scoring consistently in the 8-10 range. Treadwear earns praise for durability, with many users noting above-average longevity for a grand touring tire. Winter traction receives strong marks in snow (7-10), though ice performance shows occasional lower scores (0-7) that warrant caution. Wet conditions highlight reliable hydroplaning resistance and confident handling, with most ratings between 8-10. Dry traction stands out as a top strength, with near-perfect scores for responsive steering and stable cornering. While ice performance varies, the tire delivers well-rounded all-season capability suited for drivers prioritizing comfort and year-round reliability.

...Grip is really good, especially in the rain...
Cooper Pro Control tires are better than I expected . I’m a Michelin Guy through and through , but these Coopers are almost as good as Michelin’s Defender , and they cost a lot less . Grip is really good, especially in the rain . I don’t drive my F150 2WD in the snow , sooo … The only thing I don’t like about the Coopers is , Directional Stability . They kinda wander a bit . But, that’s not a big deal to me , especially since they are sooo good in the corners and under braking . I’m impressed , I really am . I wasn’t expecting them to be as good as they are , especially for the price .

...Softens bumps and road noise, wet road traction and no hydroplaning, cornering sidewall strength, great looks, and overall strength and stability...
Best tire I have ever owned! I am 57 and have never had a tire meet all my expectations as these. Softens bumps and road noise, wet road traction and no hydroplaning, cornering sidewall strength, great looks, and overall strength and stability. Awesome tire! Will buy again and recommend to friends and family.

These tires do very well in the rain and snow. The wet traction is definitely very good with these tires...
These tires do very well in the rain and snow. I bought these before there were many reviews on them other than the preliminary TireRack test results. The wet traction is definitely very good with these tires, but as reviews of snow performance did not yet exist, I was concerned about snow performance. After one winter with these on my car, I have to say that they have exceeded expectations. I have never had one of the highest end all-weather tires like the Michelin CrossClimate 2, but as for the tires that I have had, including some with the extreme weather mountain logo, these are noticeably a step up.
One thing worth mentioning is that the ride was a bit rough for the first 500 miles or so, but the Cooper website said that this is normal, and so I trusted them and continued to drive on them. They definitely got smoother over time.

...nice on the highway, good cornering, and positive braking on wet and dry pavement.
Only have about 1,000 miles on them, but so far seems a little louder and a bit firmer riding than my General Grabber HTS60s, but nice on the highway, good cornering, and positive braking on wet and dry pavement.

...Tire Rack's testing results and price, plus the Cooper Rebate made the decision easy and after 700 miles I am very happy with the Cooper ProControl handling and overall performance...
Previous tires were General Altimax RT43, 32,000 miles driven, Replacement Monitor System not quite worn to replacement status, however, steadily declining grip during acceleration and a hydroplaning experience in October 2023 prompted a search for new tires before winter hit Michigan. I was considering putting the new General Altima RT 45’s on the Avalon until I found the Made in USA Cooper ProControl. Tire Rack’s testing results and price, plus the Cooper Rebate made the decision easy and after 700 miles I am very happy with the Cooper ProControl handling and overall performance. I hope they provide good performance beyond the 32,000 miles from the RT 43's, but other than in dry road conditions, tires these days don't provide long-lasting safe, all-weather performance. Based on the low mileage experience with my Avalon and 1,000 miles with my 2019 Subaru Outback (in all-weather and all road conditions) I recommend these tires and the outstanding customer service from Tire Rack.

...In wet and dry conditions, these tires feel very good and are not noisy.
OEM tires were Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport AS, 45,000 miles driven. The first slick roads of Michigan in November 2023 showed a severe decline in grip/stopping performance, prompting a search for new tires before the weather turned snowy. Using Tire Rack’s testing information and customer reviews, I found the Made In USA Cooper ProControl. Tire Rack’s testing results and price, plus the Cooper Rebate made the decision easy. In wet and dry conditions, these tires feel very good and are not noisy. Tire Rack had not done snow conditions testing with the ProControls, but based on all other test results I inferred the tire would perform well in the snow - and they do! January 12th, 2024 produced wicked winter conditions and the Subaru Outback was solid as a rock, great grip and stopping power. I also put a new set of Cooper ProControl tires on my 2012 Toyota Avalon Limited - I recommend these tires and the Outstanding Customer Service from Tire Rack.

...Smooth, quiet & very comfortable...
TIRES are great. Smooth, quiet & very comfortable. installed in early June so just about 3 months with 4000 miles on them. No snow yet, but great in the heavy summer rain storms. I did have to bring them back to the shop to be re-balanced because there was excessive vibration at 60 MPH and above. Was not happy about that, much, much better now. I will have them rotated at 6500 miles & then see if the balancing is ok or needs to be done again. I have had many sets of cooper tires on my cars in the past, never had any issues with any of them.

From what we've experienced so far with this tire, they ride much nicer and quieter than the Continentals and Yokohamas that were previously on the car. I'm not the person who primarily drives the car so I can't speak to the wet weather performance yet. We also haven't seen snow yet.

I only got about 35,000 from the CS5's so I'm hoping to get much better tread-wear with the Pro Control's...
I have been a fan of Cooper Tires for many years and have used them exclusively. The new Pro Control tires take the previous CS5's to a new level. Ride quality seems to be a bit softer and smoother for the RAV4 SUV. Wet/dry traction is excellent and fairly equal, maybe a bit better when wet, as per usual Cooper characteristics. Have no information on heavy snow because my Massachusetts town removes the snow before it accumulates. Light snow exhibits very decent traction, better than the earlier CS5's. Cornering is positive and predictable. High speed stability is excellent! Overall handling is about the same as the previous CS5's. Tread-wear will be discussed later. I only got about 35,000 from the CS5's so I'm hoping to get much better tread-wear with the Pro Control's. I don't think there's abetter tire than the Pro Control and certainly not at this price!

...The tires have minimal wear considering the miles on them...
Very good all around tire. The tires are very compatible with our vehicle. The vehicle handles well and has all the traction required in our changing weather. The tires have minimal wear considering the miles on them. We have run Coopers on our vehicles for over 40 years and have always been satisfied with their performance.
