The Enasave 01 A/S (Energy saver) is Dunlop's eco-friendly Passenger All-Season tire developed as Original Equipment for the Mitsubishi i MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) city car. In order to match the Mitsubishi i's high-tech all-electric drive train (no gas tank, no exhaust system and no CO2 vehicle emissions), the Enasave 01 A/S is designed to combine high environmental performance, a quiet ride and year-round traction, including in light snow.
The Enasave 01 A/S features a low rolling resistance tread compound molded into a symmetric design that provides uniform footprint pressure to promote traction while reducing tire energy loss. Independent tread and shoulder blocks bordered by circumferential and lateral grooves blend dry road and wet road capabilities, while strategically placed sipes add extra biting edges to promote snow traction. The tires internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped polyamide on top of a polyester cord casing.

Ratings indicate the Dunlop Enasave 01 A/S delivers strong dry traction (7-10 range) and a comfortable ride, with many praising its smoothness and quiet operation. However, treadwear scores show significant concerns (frequent 1-5 ratings), suggesting shorter lifespan than expected for a touring tire. Winter traction receives mixed feedback (3-6 range), with limited ice performance noted. Wet traction also shows inconsistency (5-7 range), though hydroplaning resistance fares slightly better. While dry handling and comfort align well with touring priorities, buyers should weigh the trade-offs in durability and seasonal versatility for all-weather use.

These tires came with the car and surprisingly had great dry traction and decent wet reaction for being a low rolling resistant tire. The stability and predictability were great and the ride quality was average. The tire life is terrible though as these were rotated every 5k miles and are now at 4/32 after 24k miles.

...Dry traction is acceptable, but there is a ton of understeer if you push hard...
I am a regular customer of the Tire Rack, though these tires came stock on the car. They feel like rubber-covered marshmallows, very soft and not up for hard cornering. Traction in the wet is fair to poor, do not even THINK about using these in the snow! Dry traction is acceptable, but there is a ton of understeer if you push hard. They have a soft, comfortable ride even at 40PSI, and are fairly quiet. The main purpose of these tires is high fuel mileage, which they do exceptionally well. If you are a very easy-going driver they might be worth replacing, but I am going to accept a mileage hit to get something that handles better and is not totally useless in Winter, once these wear out. At 8500 miles rotated frequently they have 6/32" tread remaining, which leads me to expect that they will last only about 24k miles.

...They have good feel and corner and brake reliably on dry roads, including a few emergency stops in heavy rain at tread tread depths as low as we've taken them.
This review is for our second set of this tire type. The first was for the OEM tires which served well for 42,000mi. when they were replaced with 4/32" remaining tread, with even wear, rotated every 5-7kmi. This review is for their replacements (not purchased from Tire Rack, though we are a customer), currently worn to ~ 6-1/2 32nds depth at 24,000mi. and appear to be on track for about the same total mileage and are performing the same. We drive mostly on good pavement, but ~ 200mi. has been in mountains on rough Forest Service roads with no damage (we're careful, but they've taken a few sharp hits).
They have good feel and corner and brake reliably on both dry and wet roads, including a few emergency stops in heavy rain at tread tread depths as low as we've taken them. They're quiet on smooth roads though noise does come through on rough pavement, as with other tires we've owned. Nothing harsh about their ride though we usually run ~ 3-4 psi over the sticker. They appeared to be slippery the one time they were driven on fresh wet snow (6-1/2 32nd" tread depth), but I wasn't driving then so I can't say how they compare to the All Season Michelins we have on another car that are quite reliable on snow/ice.
Their (low) rolling resistance is outstanding and the reason we're planning to buy a third set - the Prius is averaging ~ 60mpg indicated with them, which dropped a full 18% when we tried a set of Michelin Defenders for several weeks, immediately returning to form when those were exchanged for the current Dunlops. We seldom experience winter conditions, and have another car for that, but if we did we'd probably mount tires with better snow/ice performance for just those months and accept the decreased gas mileage.

Most customers rate ride comfort highly with scores of 7-10, highlighting smooth ride quality and noise reduction. While some report lower scores, the majority experience refined comfort suitable for all-season touring.

Mixed wet traction scores (many 0-6) highlight hydroplaning concerns and slippery handling. Several customers report floating on wet roads, with mediocre performance for an all-season tire. While some rate it 7-10, frequent low scores indicate dissatisfaction.

They are okay in the dry and quite enough. The main problem is the handling in the wet. It's downright dangerous on Florida roads. I'd spin the tires and slide if the roads were anything but bone dry. Also, I only got 29,100 miles out them. The general gmax-05's are only slightly louder, but are way safer in the the wet and handle so much better. I'd never consider buying these dunlops again.

...I have hydroplaned more times than I can count. It doesn't even take a puddle, any amount of water on the road and at nearly any speed they slip and hydroplane. It's like driving on an unpredictable ice rink...
These are the worst tires I have ever had on any vehicle I have driven. I got a brand new set of these tires with my car in April. I have put 4800 miles on them and they are so worn they won't pass inspection. They also squeal when going around turns at any speed. I have hydroplaned more times than I can count. It doesn't even take a puddle, any amount of water on the road and at nearly any speed they slip and hydroplane. It's like driving on an unpredictable ice rink. They also are the noisiest tires I have ever had. I have raise my voice to talk to my passenger and we are in a Toyota Corolla. It drowns out the music if I'm in the car alone. If you want to cover it up with the stereo it requires a volume that leaves your ears ringing when you get out of the car. Never buy these tires for any reason and for any price. Spend money on better quality.

...Tire works fine on dry and wet and gravel. They are poor on ice/snow (North Dakota) but they are not labeled as an all season/winter tire so that shouldn't be a surprise...
Not sure how people are complaining about the mileage life of these tires- have 20,000 on mine on a 2024 Corolla and they'll easily go to 40,000. Tire works fine on dry and wet and gravel. They are poor on ice/snow (North Dakota) but they are not labeled as an all season/winter tire so that shouldn't be a surprise. I will say the replacement cost on these is WAY overpriced for their performance. For that reason alone I wouldn't consider purchasing them as a replacement. They are your typical OEM tire, purchased by automobile manufacturers at a discount price and put on vehicles, and most likely wouldn't be considered an economically-wise replacement given their current pricing of +$200.00 for a 16" tire that is really only best suited for summer use.

Treadwear scores reveal significant dissatisfaction, with many 0-4 ratings citing premature wear and needing replacement early. While some report 9s/10s, frequent mentions of rapid wear highlight poor tread life for an all-season tire.

After just 16k-18k miles, I was told I will need new tires soon, they barely passed inspection here in NY state after one year and 18k miles! ... I have had no major issues with these tires other than the terrible life of these tires...no tires should be worn out from only 16k-18k miles!...
After just 16k-18k miles, I was told I will need new tires soon, they barely passed inspection here in NY state after one year and 18k miles! Other than that, they're decent tires, a little loud at highway speeds but also the car has almost no insulation so many things are loud at highway speeds! Also because of the car and these tires doing the speed limit of 55, driving mostly highway miles will get you 50+ mpg despite the EPA's 42 highway rating. Doing 65 in a 55 and 75 in a 65 will get you around the EPA's 42 mpg. I have had no major issues with these tires other than the terrible life of these tires...no tires should be worn out from only 16k-18k miles! Sad. I use to be upset when my 2000 and 2005 Neon Goodyear tires(later switched to 60k Cooper tires) were worn out after 36k miles, a little ridiculous Dunlop!
