The Grandtrek AT20 is Dunlop's Highway All-Season tire that was developed for the drivers of pickups and sport utility vehicles. The Grandtrek AT20 was designed to deliver low noise, a comfortable ride, and year-round traction, even in light snow.
The numerous Grandtrek AT20 sizes developed for the aftermarket are branded with UTQG Ratings of 500 A B and have been designed to provide a balance of traits appropriate for today's lavish pickups and luxury sport utility vehicles, while the few Original Equipment Grandtrek AT20 tires developed several years ago are branded with UTQG Ratings of 300 B B and appear to place emphasis on low rolling resistance to increase the vehicle's fuel economy above poor weather traction and treadwear.
On the outside, the aftermarket tires feature Dunlop's advanced all-season compound molded into a tread design that combines independent intermediate and shoulder blocks with a continuous center rib to enhance dry traction and treadwear. Then crosscut sipes, wide circumferential grooves and deep lateral grooves provide the biting edges needed to enhance poor weather traction. On the inside, twin steel belts stabilize the tread while a Dimensionally Stable Polyester cord body and bead design promote ride comfort, handling and treadwear.

Customers think the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 delivers a smooth, quiet ride (7-10 scores) and strong dry traction with confident cornering, fitting its highway focus. However, treadwear concerns dominate, with many reporting premature wear (common 1-3 scores). Winter traction struggles in snow/ice (frequent 0-4 ratings), and wet grip shows inconsistency, though hydroplaning resistance fares slightly better. Dry performance shines with stable handling (7-10 range), making it reliable for everyday driving in fair conditions. While comfort excels, durability issues and limited all-season capability in harsh weather may give pause for drivers needing year-round versatility.

...Dry traction is good even now...
These tires have been on my '08 tacoma new. I bought the truck with approx 13,000 miles on them. At first the tires handled great. Can't comment on snow or ice because it's Ga. We did get a couple of inches of snow one year and it handled fairly well. Even though I didn't drive fast. From the beginning these tires have had considerable noise and a constant vibration even though I've had them balanced after I bought the truck. Tread wear to me has been normal for the amount of miles of them. Dry traction is good even now but I have to be more careful in wet conditions because performance is not there now. I will probably not buy these again.

According to the warranty, I have about 9k miles left. According to the wear bars, I have about 5-9k miles left. They're not the best in Florida downpours, hydroplaning a bit. Dry traction has been pretty good.

...Im impressed with these tires; they handle very well in dry weather and they look good too.
I will be replacing my current AT20s with the same when I hit 60K. Ive been across the country and back and trips up to Big Bear and they work great. On one trip to Big Bear, I later found I had 2 screws in the tire and it was almost running flat, yet it handled well despite this. Im impressed with these tires; they look great, handle very well in dry weather and they look good too.

...I've got 30500 miles on my 4Runner and they are very comfortable on the road, quiet on the highways, have never let me down on dirt trails and mild off roading...
I'm not sure why these tires get such a bad rap. I've got 30500 miles on my 4Runner and they are very comfortable on the road, quiet on the highways, have never let me down on dirt trails and mild off roading. They also did fine the few times we've had ice and light snow here in metro Atlanta as long as I did my part. In those conditions drive like your grandmother is in the back seat holding a hot bowl of chili... Tread life is good, the edge tread is showing a little rounding but that's to be expected. They are definitely not a hard core mud tire (and shouldn't be judged to that standard) but Toyota picked a winner as an OEM offering.

Tires came with my Tacoma and I've driven for 12000 miles. It's very quiet and comfy. Good traction in the rain. It hasn't spun out on me on wet surface, and I live in Hawaii. It rains most times. Aloha!

Wet traction disappoints with numerous scores 0-5. Customers report slippery performance, hydroplaning, and sliding on wet roads. While some rate 7-10, concerns about mediocre wet grip dominate feedback.

I'm actually looking forward to spending the money to replace these OEMs. Wet traction has been poor since the very first mile. Cornering, handling, noise all subpar. Never again.

These tires hydroplane & loose rear end grip during turnsworse than any I've experienced...
These tires hydroplane & loose rear end grip during turns worse than any I've experienced. Severe wobbling began on BOTH front tires at 21,000. Toyota diagnosed & determined all chassis components were perfect (matching all manufacturers spec readings). HOWEVER, the Road Force balancing of the two front tires revealed numerical measurement results that defined the problem: Although no wear was visible on the tiers, the belts inside the tires had separated & done so suddenly on BOTH front tires simultaneously. Toyota simply said (with a strait face), "The tires will eventually wobble so bad you won't be able to drive the 4Runner." I have researched on-line & found 17-exact complaints that occurred between 15,000 - 25,000 miles (most around 15,000)& have done so consistently on this tire from 2005-2009 on Toyota 4Runners & other Toyotas larger SUV's. Funny, Toyota ditched Firestones for the same problem before choosing Dunlop GRANTREK AT20's. It gets worse. Neither Toyota nor Dunlop will give any consideration. In fast acceleration the front end shakes so badly you think you're loosing control of the SUV (always between 62 -66 MPH - the exact same speed range all other complaints I've read also reported). I'm in contact with several attorneys that report to me several incidents with those exact tires where folks lost control and were injured and law suits are at various stages - some settled. The point: It appears Dunlop GRANTREK A20's are defective tires that could, and, appear to have already resulted in injuries.

...Wet traction is hard to come by, with tire spin pretty much a given when accelerating from a stop even with light throttle application (with limited slip). Grip on wet gravel or turf is also pretty dismal, necessitating 4WD to get to my cabin in VT on fairly easy terrain...
Tires were OEM on my truck. I run dedicated snow tires in the winter so my experience is 3 season only. Tire wear is very good, reasonably quiet on the highway at 65 MPH and a comfortable ride. The rest of my impressions are not very favorable. Wet traction is hard to come by, with tire spin pretty much a given when accelerating from a stop even with light throttle application (with limited slip). Grip on wet gravel or turf is also pretty dismal, necessitating 4WD to get to my cabin in VT on fairly easy terrain. Tire squeal in moderate turns, even after two dealer alignments, which is annoying. I would tolerate this for a few more summers except they now show sidewall ripples on all four tires, with a significant bulge on the inside of one of them. NOT very comforting. So I'm shopping for replacements now, but will definitely not consider this tire. All this being said, if all you do is highway driving in a dry region you could live with these tires which seem to have great tread wear and a decent, quiet ride. Otherwise, my recommendation is to look for another tire, which seems to be the consensus opinion in these reviews.

Winter traction ratings are concerning, with many scores between 0-6. Customers report slippery in snow, loss of traction, and getting stuck. Some note mediocre ice performance despite the all-season design.

...Ice and snow traction is non-existent, even with full time 4 wheel drive...
My wife drives the car about 10 miles per day to work and the treadwear is pathetic. We are replacing them already with only 32,000 easy miles, we average 8,000 miles per year. Ice and snow traction is non-existent, even with full time 4 wheel drive. These tires have a nice and quiet ride but that is all they offer.

I was driving my FJ up through an ice storm for Christmas and nearly wrecked 4-5 times on ice because of how terrible these tires were. Toyota should be ashamed to pick a tire out this terrible considering how outstanding the vehicle is. The tires do however do pretty well off road and in shallow mud. I have never had such a scary drive in ice as I did with these. I watched countless other cars and trucks and semis driving the roads with little to no problems and I nearly ended up in the woods or involved in other collisions. Had I not been an experienced snow and ice driver I doubt I would have been able to save the FJ.

I drive in central Pennsylvania and I can tell you these are by far the worst performing tire I have ever driven in the winter... if there is any amount of snow slush or ice on the road even in 4 wheel drive your confidence will be greatly reduced...
I drive in central Pennsylvania and I can tell you these are by far the worst performing tire I have ever driven in the winter. They were ok on dry highway driving and adequate for dry city driving. However if there is any amount of snow slush or ice on the road even in 4 wheel drive your confidence will be greatly reduced. I have been driving for 30+ years and I had more confidence in a rwd 1978 coupe than I do with these tires on a modern 4x4 with traction control, locking diff and ATRAC. I was stuck in the driveway in approx 9 inches of snow. I'm deciding what to replace these with now, as these are just not a safe tire for any type of winter driving in PA!!

Treadwear disappoints with numerous low scores (0-6) citing rapid wear and premature replacement. Despite some 9s/10s, excessive wear concerns dominate feedback for this highway all-season tire, falling short of expected mileage.

These tires were OEM and are nice looking...thats about it. Im replacing them at 15K!? They have absolutely no traction whatsoever on snow-covered roads. Excessive Treadwear is apparent on the inner edge of all four tires. Horrible..would never purchase again.
