The Grandtrek AT20 is Dunlop's Highway All-Season tire that was developed for the drivers of pickups and sport utility vehicles. The Grandtrek AT20 was designed to deliver low noise, a comfortable ride, and year-round traction, even in light snow.
The numerous Grandtrek AT20 sizes developed for the aftermarket are branded with UTQG Ratings of 500 A B and have been designed to provide a balance of traits appropriate for today's lavish pickups and luxury sport utility vehicles, while the few Original Equipment Grandtrek AT20 tires developed several years ago are branded with UTQG Ratings of 300 B B and appear to place emphasis on low rolling resistance to increase the vehicle's fuel economy above poor weather traction and treadwear.
On the outside, the aftermarket tires feature Dunlop's advanced all-season compound molded into a tread design that combines independent intermediate and shoulder blocks with a continuous center rib to enhance dry traction and treadwear. Then crosscut sipes, wide circumferential grooves and deep lateral grooves provide the biting edges needed to enhance poor weather traction. On the inside, twin steel belts stabilize the tread while a Dimensionally Stable Polyester cord body and bead design promote ride comfort, handling and treadwear.

Consumer experiences reveal the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 delivers strong dry traction (scores 7-10) with responsive handling, paired with a smooth and quiet ride that earns consistent praise. However, treadwear receives widespread criticism, with many noting rapid wear and disappointing tread life (scores 1-5 dominate). Winter traction raises concerns, particularly in snow and icy conditions, while wet performance shows mixed results-some report decent hydroplaning resistance, but others note reduced grip in heavy rain. As a highway-focused all-season tire, it satisfies drivers seeking comfort and dry-road confidence but struggles with longevity and severe weather versatility.

...They provide very good dry handling, responsiveness, low noise and good ride quality...
My experience with these tires has generally been good. They provide very good dry handling, responsiveness, low noise and good ride quality. In the rain they are about average and snow traction is ok but nothing to write home about. I only have 12,000 miles on them and they seem to wearing fairly quickly (but evenly) which is a surprise since Im very careful about alignment and pressures. Id guess they are a soft compound tire which helps explain the good dry handling. If they make it past 45,000 miles Id consider buying another set, if not Ill look else where.

...I have had to do some quick steering with these tires, sometimes for deer and some for other drivers and these Dunlops did not fail...
These AT20s are not that bad except for the treadwear. Is that softer tire compound sticking to the ground better? I dont know. I have had to do some quick steering with these tires, sometimes for deer and some for other drivers and these Dunlops did not fail. No problem in the rain and so far, good performance in the snow after 2 winters [unless you think your king of the road with a 6600lb 4X4]. If you have a leadfoot, get tires with better treadwear, pay 150% more than these Dunlops [at time of writing] and get 50% better mileage. That doesnt add up does it?

This tire came as standard equipment on my 2006 Tacoma. I was originally un-impressed. They didnt appear to have an aggressive tread or stand out in any category. However, my opinion changed as the miles racked up.
They had great stability on wet roads and resisted hydroplaning very well. They wore evenly and were only rotated about every 15,000 miles. Although they were replaced at the listed mileage, they could have gone another 5,000 miles. I changed them because I travel up into the snow belt and didnt want to take any chances.
I would certainly recommend these tires and wish that I had replaced in-kind. I switched to Michelins (paid more for less performance). They appear to be a bargain for the price.

...I've got 30500 miles on my 4Runner and they are very comfortable on the road, quiet on the highways, have never let me down on dirt trails and mild off roading...
I'm not sure why these tires get such a bad rap. I've got 30500 miles on my 4Runner and they are very comfortable on the road, quiet on the highways, have never let me down on dirt trails and mild off roading. They also did fine the few times we've had ice and light snow here in metro Atlanta as long as I did my part. In those conditions drive like your grandmother is in the back seat holding a hot bowl of chili... Tread life is good, the edge tread is showing a little rounding but that's to be expected. They are definitely not a hard core mud tire (and shouldn't be judged to that standard) but Toyota picked a winner as an OEM offering.

...Good dry traction, ride comfort, and steering response... As far as noise comfort they seem to be pretty quiet, although I have undercoating on my truck and the Tundra is a quiet truck anyway.
With 4100 miles these tires have been good so far. Good dry traction, ride comfort, and steering response. The wet traction is good, however the hydroplaning resistence is just so-so. I imagine Ill be avoiding water puddles like the plague whenever the tires have worn down a bit. As far as noise comfort they seem to be pretty quiet, although I have undercoating on my truck and the Tundra is a quiet truck anyway.

...It is very smooth and comfortable, but the braking and the road handling responsiveness is terrible...
These also came OEM on my vehicle and it is not doing to well in my break-in period. It is very smooth and comfortable and all, but the braking and the road handling responsiveness is terrible. Even with four ventilated disc brakes, I felt that my old Xterra (drums in the back) on Geolanders AT +II did much better.

Mixed wet traction scores with concerning ratings between 0-5. Multiple reports of sliding and hydroplaning highlight mediocre performance, disappointing for a highway all-season tire. Some 8-10 ratings exist but don't outweigh widespread dissatisfaction.

...No traction on wet pavement even with posi-trac rear end.
OEM tires, noticed severe wear at 15000 miles, progressive worse in last 12000 miles, less than 1/32 to tread bars, corners rounded on both front and rear. No traction now on wet pavement even with posi-trac rear end.

I cannot believe Lexus would put these crappy tires on a 50k SUV. I almost was killed becuase of the terrible snow/wet traction. I just got Bridgestone Revos and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! These tires should be banned!

Winter traction receives concerning scores between 0-5, with many customers reporting slippery conditions, loss of traction, and getting stuck. Despite being an all-season tire, its snow and ice performance is unacceptable.

Still early days, (only 8500 miles on truck) but had a couple of light snowfalls and these tires are a liability. Traction and braking are terrible and am now shopping for replacements, no way am I going to spend the winter with theses pigs, even though they are new.

...I live in VT and they are only good on dry payment. They are really bad in the winter, wet roads they spin, so in the winter time they are 10 worse...
Tire is an OEM that came with the vehicle. I had them on one other vehicle. I live in VT and they are only good on dry payment. They are really bad in the winter, wet roads they spin, so in the winter time they are 10 worse. Would not recommend these tire for people that drive in winter or lots of rain.

...These tires stink in the ice and snow. I have had many near misses including sliding into an empty intersection on snow...
Came stock on my '07 Tacoma. I wanted the highway tires instead of the on/off road tires because I rarely drive off road.
They are good in fair conditions for highway driving. It seems they were designed for high mpg and low noise.
These tires stink in the ice and snow. I have had many near misses including sliding into an empty intersection on snow.
I would not buy these again or recommend them to anybody. I would not take a free set nor would I sell my used ones to anybody. I guess if you live where it never rains, snows or gets cold then its possible they may be okay.
I don't have a problem with them during the warm 6 months of the year here in Iowa but I cannot stand them anymore for the cold 6 months and will be replacing them with 15,000 miles.

...They have worn poorly, mainly on the outside. They get rotated every 5k, and balanced every 15k...
These tires came with my vehicle. I wasn't happy with them within a few weeks of getting my 4Runner. Horrible in wet conditions, forget about it on ice. I didn't want to spend money to replace them until I had to and the time has come. They have worn poorly, mainly on the outside. They get rotated every 5k, and balanced every 15k. I check inflation every few weeks. I'm looking forward to my new Michelin's coming in.

These OEM tires are of good quality and build, only one problem Treadwear. I have 10K miles and they are already showing wear... I just cant believe they are showing so much wear if I get 30,000 miles out of these tires it will be a miracle.
These OEM tires are of good quality and build, only one problem Treadwear. I have 10K miles and they are already showing wear. I rotate every 5k, so these tires will be rotated frequently. I just cant believe they are showing so much wear if I get 30,000 out of these tires it will be a miracle. One other thing the temperature rating is "B", I use this truck to haul and pull with, I think truck tires should have a better temp rating bcs they are required to operate for extended periods of time while there hot. I probably wouldnt buy again.
