The SP Sport 5000 is Dunlop's Ultra High Performance All-Season radial developed for drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans. The SP Sport 5000 is designed to provide ultra high performance and all-season versatility by blending traction on dry and wet roads with traction in light snow.
Depending on the tire size and/or Original Equipment vehicle application, the tires feature either an asymmetric or symmetric tread design to tune their comfort, traction and performance characteristics. Most lower profile sizes feature an asymmetric tread design that feature large interconnected outer shoulder blocks and independent intermediate tread blocks to enhance dry road cornering and stability, while the inner tread blocks with open shoulder grooves enhance wet traction and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Most higher aspect ratio sizes feature a symmetric version with large shoulder blocks, notched intermediate ribs and a continuous center rib to balance dry cornering and handling with wet traction and hydroplaning resistance.
Full-face, cross-cut sipes engineered into all sizes provide more biting edges for slush and snow traction, and an exclusive high performance all-season tread compound is used to blend traction, treadwear, and rolling resistance to meet a wide range of driving and weather conditions. The tires' internal structures include twin steel belts reinforced by Dunlop's Jointless Band (JLB) technology that uses spirally wound nylon to provide high-speed durability while it reduces weight and helps provide more uniform ride quality.

...These tires are a lot of fun if all you'll encounter is dry weather though. I'm a pretty aggressive driver and don't mind pushing tires to their limits. In the dry, you can roll these through any turn and go confident knowing traction will continue...
Do NOT buy these tires if you live in an area where it rains, unless you're a cat and have lives to spare. These tires came stock on our 22 Corolla SE and have to be the WORST tire I've ever experienced in my life with wet traction/handling. These tires are a lot of fun if all you'll encounter is dry weather though. I'm a pretty aggressive driver and don't mind pushing tires to their limits. In the dry, you can roll these through any turn and go confident knowing traction will continue. Toss in a drop of water and you better hang on. Water left from a mist is dangerous. Standing water during heavy rain is dangerous. With 17000 miles on these, they still have a bit of tread, so tread life is good, even with really spirited driving in dry weather. Can't complain about that. I'm not sure how Toyota got away with putting these on a regular car most will buy to commute daily in. It's a great value if you'll only drive during warm/dry days. Even cold days are "ok" with traction, maybe a bit more of a slide or late reaction based on steering input. Seriously avoid if you value your life in wet weather. There are better, cheaper, tires out there that will get you home in one piece.

...These tires do somewhat well when it is dry and takes hard turns somewhat well. I don't hear the tires squeal...
As mentioned by another 2018 C-HR owner - This is the OEM tire for this Toyota vehicle. The tread pattern is not the same as in this photo at all. It looks somewhat like the Dunlop SP10. The tires on the C-HR does not have the curving in water channels (asymmetric?). May look for either a more better performing tire for this next year 2021. I don't have many miles on this vehicle - not like my daily driver 2018 RAV4 -( Falken Wildpeak AT Trails on that). These tires do somewhat well when it is dry and takes hard turns somewhat well. I don't hear the tires squeal. I don't want to push this vehicle too hard as the weakest part is the transmission. So far wear on the tires is appearing normal - still have lots of tread left. No noticeable cracks in the sidewalls from not being driven as much and being over three years old. I am not overly impressed by this tire, I will replace them with something else, eventually.

Wet traction disappoints with many scores between 3-5 and some as low as 0-2. Customers report sliding, hydroplaning, and mediocre grip on wet roads - unacceptable for an all-season tire's intended performance.

...in dry conditions are decent but in rain is suicide, not to mention snow...
worst tired ive ever owned. This tires came with toyota corolla SE and in dry conditions are decent but in rain is suicide, not to mention snow. They are extremely noisy and treadwear is awful.

...that still doesn't compare to how awful they are in the rain. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if drag slicks handled better in the rain because these are nightmarish. Absolutely will kill you any chance they get in the rain, my Corolla would break loose at highway speeds without much throttle and cornering at any speed in the rain is a hazard...
I would not recommend this tire to my worst enemy.
These tires came oem on my Corolla and I used them for daily use and for a good amount of spirited backroad driving. After 42,000 miles of mostly highway use mine were at 2/32nds and I had one blow out on the highway without warning. Overall horrific tire, doesn’t matter what the pavement is like they will DEAFEN you with how much noise they make. On top of that, they’re very noisy and unpredictable in corners and have a tendency to randomly get too hot too fast and that still doesn’t compare to how awful they are in the rain. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if drag slicks handled better in the rain because these are nightmarish. Absolutely will kill you any chance they get in the rain, my Corolla would break loose at highway speeds without much throttle and cornering at any speed in the rain is a hazard.
Overall terrible tire and I would absolutely not recommend them.

These were the OEM tires on my Infiniti. Every time it rains I get nervous. You feel the car dancing on top of the water. It's not fun. Additionally at 18k they needed to be replaced. I milked them through this summer (dry season) but I have to replace them before the snow falls. I would not buy these tires again. I will change brands as I have never had so much trouble with my tires in the past.

...I traveled for a contract a year ago and had these in light snow. Amazingly, I got stuck in about 2" of snow on a 4 lane road, with tons of other cars driving right past. Had to get a pull from a friendly Jeep owner who was amused at how pathetic my traction was...
Trash. Came OEM on my car. They were hydroplaning on the first rainy season. Wet traction is low but at least predictable and loss of traction is pretty linear. At this point, wet traction is a joke, the tires break loose just trying to leave a stoplight as other cars pull away without issue. Dry traction started out ok, but has now become unsafe. I still have a decent amount of tread left, I'd estimate at least another 10k miles before I hit the wear bars. But the tires lose traction with moderately firm braking, as would be used in an emergency - well before I would expect a tire to and much worse than previous quality tires I've owned.

Had to get a pull from a friendly Jeep owner who was amused at how pathetic my traction was. I've driven in snow before without issue on other AS tires.
The only positive is that treadwear has been decent and wear has been even. The fact that these cost more than a quality tire from Conti, BFG etc is a joke.

...Traction in the wet is poor, and in the snow is completely unacceptable for all-season tires. It is very easy to lose traction and squeal the tires in wet conditions, in a low-horsepower Toyota Corolla. You can basically forget about driving in the snow...
Tires have started to dry rot, with cracks in both the tread and sidewall after only 2 years and 40,000 miles. This is entirely unacceptable for tires that are less than 2 years old. The performance of these tires was fine brand new, but over time have gotten much worse. Tires are extremely loud, especially on certain types of asphalt. Comfort is ok, but you really do feel a lot of bumps on these tires. Dry performance is fine and always has been. Traction in the wet is poor, and in the snow is completely unacceptable for all-season tires. It is very easy to lose traction and squeal the tires in wet conditions, in a low-horsepower Toyota Corolla. You can basically forget about driving in the snow. Tires were installed by the dealer before I bought the car and have been an absolute nightmare overall. Would not reccomend.

Frequent low scores (3-6) for comfort, with complaints of harsh ride and unbearable noise. While some rate 7-10, widespread dissatisfaction highlights poor ride quality and jarring sound in this all-season tire.

...They are also very noisy and hard ride quality...
Came OEM on my car. Decent tires when it's dry, but I live in the Seattle area, and it's wet 70% of the time, and the traction on these tires is just not good. They are also very noisy and hard ride quality. There are definitely much better options available with lower price. Just put the CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS XL, and the difference is huge across traction, noise level, and ride quality.

...The road noise is extremely noticeable, especially on the highway-it's one of the loudest tires I've ever driven on...
This tire certainly does not live up to its name. I had it installed as an add-on for my 2022 Toyota C-HR, and it’s been a letdown from the start. The road noise is extremely noticeable, especially on the highway—it’s one of the loudest tires I’ve ever driven on.
Living in a very hot climate, I also noticed the treadwear disintegrated much faster than expected. It simply doesn’t hold up in high heat. While I’ll give it credit for maintaining good traction in rainy weather, that’s about the only highlight.
Overall, I expected more from a brand like Dunlop. Unfortunately, this tire fell short in durability and comfort.
Vehicle: 2022 Toyota C-HR XLE Miles Driven on Tires: 40,000 Driving Conditions: Combined Highway/City Location: FORT LAUDERDALE, FL Driving Style: Easy Going
Tires are extremely loud and not particularly comfortable...
Tires have weather cracking after less than a year and a half and about 40,000 miles of use. This includes cracks in the tread and in the sidewall, causing pressure to leak out over time. This is entirely unacceptable for tires that are less than 2 years old. After 40,000 miles of use, all tires are down to about 3/32nds, and need to be replaced anyways. Dry traction is fine. Wet traction is not good. It's pretty easy to break the tires loose in a low-horsepower Toyota Corolla. Traction on ice is virtually non-existent. Tires are extremely loud and not particularly comfortable. The traction on these tires wasn't great when they were new and is extremely poor now. I am extremely disappointed, and I would not recommend these tires.

Many customers report unacceptable tread life, with scores between 0-5 indicating premature wear and dissatisfaction. While some rate it 7-10, excessive wear and early replacement concerns dominate feedback. Disappointed in mileage expectations for an Ultra High Performance All-Season tire.

...Treadwear has been decent. I'm about half way to the wear bars now...
Terrible poor weather tire. They're ok in the dry, responsive enough for the vehicle they're on. Average noise. They fall apart in anything other than dry weather though. I got stuck in about 2-3" of snow on a road with sedans and other 2wd cars easily passing by, had to get towed out. Embarrassing. In the wet, these things are super slippery. Traction control regularly engages, and I'm spinning on takeoff at traffic lights all the time, without even being very aggressive. It actually surprises me how easy it is to break loose. These tires feel unsafe, and are the 2nd worst out of the six or so tires I've tried over the years. Somehow, they're also expensive?!
Treadwear has been decent. I'm about half way to the wear bars now. However, given the poor performance I'm looking to change them out anyway.

...But between the quick tread wear and very loud noise, I just couldn't stand these tires...
This was one of the worst set of tires I ever had. I think this was a poor choice on Mazda to fit these with the 6. A small pot hole easily took 2 of them out and I replaced the first one waste of money. But between the quick tread wear and very loud noise, I just couldn't stand these tires. I swapped out with some Michelin's and it transformed the car. It was fun to drive but the new tires made it much better. To me, it is the first thing to do if you purchased a new Mazda 6 with these tires.
