The Aklimate is Falken's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans, crossovers, and SUVs looking for confident performance in any season. Conceived as an all-weather, one-tire solution for environments that experience all four seasons but don't receive enough snow or ice to need a dedicated winter tire; Aklimate tires meet industry severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
The Aklimate features a specially developed all-season compound molded into an asymmetric tread pattern to provide optimal traction in a myriad of conditions. Large shoulder blocks generate sure-footed dry cornering, with lateral notches to evacuate water when the situation calls for dynamic handling. Four wide circumferential grooves provide hydroplaning resistance in conjunction with the generous siping. 3D Canyon Groove Technology provides enhanced grip in slush and snow.
Internal construction of the Aklimate features a single-ply polyester casting supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement is added for enhanced high-speed stability and performance.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...Wet traction is phenomenal compared to the OEM tires they replaced... They are a bit noisier than the OEM tires and I am down about 1-2 mpg on the highway, but I'll take that given the superior handling in wet conditions.
So far these tires have been fantastic. Wet traction is phenomenal compared to the OEM tires they replaced. I haven't had a chance to use them in any amount of snow or ice yet. They are a bit noisier than the OEM tires and I am down about 1-2 mpg on the highway, but I'll take that given the superior handling in wet conditions.

I don't have any road noise, they drive great in dry, wet, snow and ice conditions...
I bought these because they were cheap but still had some good ratings. They were a newish brand at the time. I figured I could get my money's worth even if they weren't great tires. These tires are some of the best I've had. I don't have any road noise, they drive great in dry, wet, snow and ice conditions. I truly have no complaints about these tires at all. I wanted to wait a year to see how they did before I wrote a review. I had to add a little air when winter came, but I haven't had to do any other additional maintenance. Super happy with these tires.

Bought the tires for driving long distances in NY winter conditions. Put them to the test recently on snowy and icy roads and they performed exceptionally. Was able to change lanes through slush in the middle of the road without being pulled sideways and did not loose traction at all. Felt zero loss of control on icy overpasses. Was very confident driving at a higher rate of speed than many other drivers. Drove faster than normal under these type conditons but never felt any loss of control.
There is a noticable penalty on overall fuel mileage. At least 10%, but worth the compromise.

...During our first big storm of the season, I watched as other vehicles were stuck, spinning their wheels, and sliding around in parking lots. Meanwhile, my van cruised through with ease. I even navigated the Tim Hortons drive-thru without a single issue, while others were left struggling in the snow...
When I started looking for tires for my commercial van, I originally wanted the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails. However, my van required heavy-duty commercial-rated tires, so I opted for the Falken Aklimate instead. Let me tell you—this was the best decision I could have made!
Living in Buffalo, New York, means dealing with harsh winters and relentless lake-effect snow. For those who aren’t familiar, lake-effect snow can dump several feet of heavy, wet snow in a single storm. It creates some of the most challenging driving conditions imaginable. Luckily, the Falken Aklimate tires are up to the task.
These tires come with the coveted Severe Snow Service (3PMSF) rating, and they absolutely live up to it. During our first big storm of the season, I watched as other vehicles were stuck, spinning their wheels, and sliding around in parking lots. Meanwhile, my van cruised through with ease. I even navigated the Tim Hortons drive-thru without a single issue, while others were left struggling in the snow. The traction these tires provide is nothing short of amazing—it’s like they’re made specifically for lake-effect snow!
What makes the Falken Aklimate tires even better is their versatility. While they dominate in snow, they also perform well on dry roads. Whether I’m cruising on the highway or maneuvering around Buffalo’s city streets, these tires provide a smooth, quiet ride.
As a commercial driver, I need tires that are not only reliable but also capable of handling the added weight of my van. The Falken Aklimate tires are built tough, offering durability and peace of mind during long drives in harsh conditions.
Considering their outstanding performance and reasonable price, these tires are an exceptional value. They rival, and even surpass, more expensive options.
If you’re on the fence, trust me—get the Falken Aklimate. They’re perfect for anyone facing tough winters, especially here in Buffalo. Thanks to Falken for making such a great product!

Absolutely great in the snow. I'm in the Poconos, Northeastern Pennsylvania . We've just got snow & ice several days in a row. I can climb hills, mountainous roads just like in my 4x4 lexus gx470. There were dozens of cars crashed, and abandoned on my way to work. I just kept moving along. When the roads are clear I'm getting normal mpgs. Highly recommend. Don't forget if the snows very bad, you can lower your tire pressure 10 to 20% to make it home, then fill back up with air. I haven't had to do this with these tires, just a tip.

Very nice so far. Significant improvement in road noise over old Continentals. They feel a tiny bit more vague, but they are better mannered going over bumps. No real extreme handling situations encountered so far, but I have confidence they would do well. If they made these for our CR-V, I would put them on there in a heartbeat

...They are really quiet and feel a little softer on rough surfaces compared to the OEM tires...
I drove through heavy rain this week, and these felt like they cut through puddles, no fear of hydroplaning. They are really quiet and feel a little softer on rough surfaces compared to the OEM tires. We didn't get a lot of snow this winter but the small amount we had didn't cause any traction issues.

I will say they are good for that. They are great in the dry especially in the corners...
I was looking for what this tire said it was. A good all season with a little more snow traction. I will say they are good for that. They are great in the dry especially in the corners. No they are not race tires. The best part i thought was in the wet. Going down the highway with it raining it would take the rain well barley hydroplaning. If it did all I had to do was take my foot off the gas and it would stop. The noise yes they have a little more hum then other tires. If I had to say how much. Then your radio up one or two more notches and you won't notice. It does not make me mad cause the performance of the tire makes up for it. For the snow part. It is not for deep snow a couple of inches around 4 it does well. No it's not a snow tire and you will make it up a mountain. In the city I found that my tires didn't slip as much on coming from a stop sign. They do good when stopping also. This also depends on your driving just remeber it's snow. I would say if you live in ohio where we have only had a couple inches last couple of years they would do good. If you are wanting a snow tire performance then get a snow tire. I will buy again.
