The TerrainContact A/T is Continental's On-Road All-Terrain tire developed for the drivers of pickup trucks, Jeeps, SUVs and crossover vehicles looking for civilized behavior on-road with the benefit of off-road capability when they need it. Designed to combine a quiet highway ride and long tread life with all-terrain performance, the TerrainContact A/T provides year-round traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even in snow.
TerrainContact A/T tires feature a +Silane enhanced all-season compound molded into a mild all-terrain tread pattern. The open pattern improves traction off-road, while the stable tread blocks and closed shoulder design help provide long tread life and resist uneven wear. The +Silane additives further extend tread life and increase wet grip, and the full-depth sipes and edge-of-the-block traction grooves increase all-season traction throughout the life of the tire.
Internal construction of the TerrainContact A/T includes two high-tensile steel belts with a spirally-wound polyamide reinforcement supported by a two-ply casing.

Tire Rack Test Results Continental TerrainContact A/T
The Continental TerrainContact A/T is a well-rounded consumer favorite, so we used it as a benchmark to test two other solid competitors in the category.
Customer feedback data reveals strong performance across key categories for this on-road all-terrain tire. Dry traction receives consistent 9-10 ratings, praised for reliable grip and stability. Wet traction also excels, with high marks for hydroplaning resistance. Winter traction shows robust capability in snow, though ice scores vary slightly more (7-10). Comfort earns positive feedback for a smooth ride, while noise levels are generally well-received. Treadwear stands out with frequent 9-10 scores, indicating above-average longevity for the category. A few isolated 7s in steering responsiveness and deep snow traction suggest minor trade-offs, but overall satisfaction remains high for rugged on-road and light off-road use.

...It'll still slide a bit on ice, but wet and snow traction is outstanding...
Had these tires for about a year, and both winters saw 8-1 of snow. These tires performed phenomenally! I actually passed a Subaru Outback on the snow covered highway! Itll still slide a bit on ice, but wet and snow traction is outstanding. No noticeable difference in MPG, and there is more road noise on the highway. Dry pavement traction is good, and performs like a regular SUV tire. But in those few weeks of snow, it really shines through. I can confidently say this tire will get you there and back (except for maybe climbing over big rocks and downed trees, havent tried that yet)! Overall, amazing tire!

...My wet weather handling has improved notably over other tires I've used...
This is my 4th set of tires on this car since new and I've been looking for a tire that could handle daily driving duties well, but also get me to work 25 miles each way when it snows. These tires are the best thing I've put on my Pathfinder. The ride is nice (slightly noisier than all my other tires, but still not really noticeable). My wet weather handling has improved notably over other tires I've used, and handling in snow has improved greatly. I finally have some level of confidence in this vehicle when it snows. They are heavier than any other tire I've had on there, but it seems to smooth out the ride a bit and my gas mileage has somehow gotten (just slightly, very slightly) better. I've been waiting for an A/T tire that fits my (not really an) SUV. I'm buying these again for sure

Customers praise the Falken WildPeak A/T Trail's excellent snow and deep snow traction, with most scoring 9s and 10s. Ice performance is solid (scores 7-10 dominate), though a few lower ratings suggest variability in extreme ice conditions.

...The Falkens are really good in the snow, especially in blizzard-like conditions on the expressway...
I bought these tires (mounted on LP Aventure LP1 wheels) within days of taking elivery of this new car. I wanted a tire and wheel combination that gave my Outback a more rugged look, while providing great winter traction, good ride and limited road noise. These tires are delivering on that and more. I replaced the factory Yokohama Avid GTs and don't notice any appreciable difference in ride quality, road noise or fuel economy. I'm actually surprised by that, as I figured I would have to compromise some (or all) of those characteristics. Nice surprise.
The Falkens are really good in the snow, especially in blizzard-like conditions on the expressway. Tire wear has also been really good...all tires measure between 9/32 to 10/32 after 12,000 miles of driving. I feel my 5,000 tire rotations are part of the reason for this excellent wear.
I would buy these tires again, in a heartbeat!

After several instances of losing traction in multiple conditions with the set of BF Goodrich Advantage T/A Sport tires I previously had on my vehicle, I decided to try the new Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires. I am very glad I did! Falken has come a long way in the last several years and this tire is proof of that. Thus far, the dry, wet, and winter traction are phenomenal. Shortly after installing the tires, I encountered heavy rain, frost, and light snow conditions; the A/T Trail handled them all with aplomb. I still haven't had any instances of losing traction, even in heavy rain or varied snow, whereas the prior set of tires would've given up grip and sent my sliding. These tires feel sure-footed in all the conditions encountered in the 1,500 miles I've been driving on them. Compared to the previous set of BFGs, these Falkens outclass them in every category except noise. These tires do have a noticeable growl to them, but nothing annoying and they're not noticeable with the radio on with a moderate volume level. Considering they're an A/T tire, these are quite comfortable. They have a smooth ride, good road feel, and excellent response. They're essentially a more aggressive all-season performance tire with the added bonus of being more durable and rated for severe snow usage. The icing on the cake is that they're affordable as well, priced well below many competing tires. Overall I'm very happy with them and unless the rubber compound takes a dump halfway through the service life like the aforementioned BFGs, I'll gladly purchase another set.

...I drive very 'spirited' and have put these tires to the test around corners in parking lots with vigor, to riding up on curbs to get in that parking spot just right. These tires have passed all the tests so far...
Very impressed with the design of these all terrain/all use tires. I went wider one size hoping it didn't rub and it fit like a glove giving the vehicle a wider footprint and beefier look overall. I drive very 'spirited' and have put these tires to the test around corners in parking lots with vigor, to riding up on curbs to get in that parking spot just right. These tires have passed all the tests so far. I drove 130 miles on the highway to test road noise and the difference in fuel economy in comparison to the economy highway tires I had on it beforehand. The fuel economy difference was hardly noticeable. The road noise was not bad at all. A little drone around 70 mph but that could have been due to the type of road I was on. Overall, I would definitely recommend these tires. They have a nice aggressive look that sets them aside from other all-terrain tires of the same size. The price point put them at the top of my search and I never found a better deal in all the tires I searched on many sites. TireRack has the best selection. These tires were the best value and I am very very happy with them thus far. 100% recommended.

...Dry traction is very good as is traction during light to steady rain...
Bought these tires this past summer hoping to find a good all season option. I do some light off roading to get to remote fishing spots in the summer and these worked very well, great traction in mud and sand with excellent sidewalk protection going over rocks and small debris.
On both city and highway roads there was less noise and vibration than I expected. The drop in fuel economy compared to my old all seasons was also less than I expected, losing about 1.5mpg. Dry traction is very good as is traction during light to steady rain. These tires do tend to hydroplane at times during heavy downpours.
Where these tires fail mightily is with winter driving. My experience has been very different than the majority of reviewers here leading me to initially question whether it was my driving ability, despite driving in snow every winter and several blizzards over the past 25+ years now, or, an issue with my vehicle rather than the tires themselves. However, several family members tested these tires out in an empty parking lot recently and had the same experience, and I can’t imagine a Subaru Forester would be a poor winter car with its AWD system.
The Wildpeaks have essentially no ice traction along with very little traction in any amount of snow. I have tried idling up to a stop sign at 5mph after a fresh snowfall of 2 inches, applying very gently pressure to the brakes, and sliding (more like idling very slowly) straight through the intersection. Several times now and on a level surface to boot. I’m at a bit of a loss here as I can’t not brake coming up to a stop sign, but then I can’t stop even at very low speeds with these tires either.
Summary: Great all terrain tire in sandy, muddy, rocky conditions. Relatively smooth ride with low hit to fuel economy, especially for an all terrain tire. Terrible in all winter weather conditions, worse than nearly bald all seasons. Recommend for light off road use or summer conditions only.

Put about 2000 miles on these tires so far. Have not seen snow or off road use yet imagine they will be excellent. So far these tires have exceeded my expectations. They have excellent cornering stability. Super super quiet for an all terrain tire quieter then the factory Falken Ziex ze001 a/s tires that were on the car. Steering is along the same lines as the factory tires. I did notice a slightly firmer ride barely noticeable. Also its worth noting that during a heavy rain storm the tires were a little loud on the highway nothing crazy but noticeable with the radio off. I can't really say I noticed a MPG drop maybe 1 mpg but well worth the trade off's compared to the factory tires. They also look great and give the car a more off-roady sporty look!. Would defiantly recommend and buy again. Can't wait to try in the snow.

Just purchased this tire, and have had them on my car for about two weeks. They are a marked improvement over the OE tires for my 19 Forester, with little compromise. They ride and handle better than the stock Falken Ziexs. I've been in this Forester for 18 months, and the OE tires were whiplash inducing over certain bumps. Hitting the same bumps at the same speed on these Wildpeaks is so much softer. With the softer tire, you would expect to sacrifice some cornering... but these again feel so much better and actually seem to want to be driven spiritedly compared to the OEs. Where I know the Ziexs would have just plowed and scrubbed, the Wildpeaks hunkered down while providing enough feeling to get a feel for its limits. I have yet to get these in a solid storm, be it rain or snow but am excited to see how they do. If they behave as they have so far, I'm going to enjoy the next two years in this Forester before my lease is up. I only got about 18k out of the Ziexs and the Wildpeaks are rated at a much higher treadrating. The only compromise is going to be a little fuel economy lost, but... I knew that going in and am more than OK with the trade-off.

...The treadwear is great - they are also very COOL looking tires and when I got my car inspected the tech noticed them, and was surprised I had already had them a year...
I bought these tires a year ago for my Forester and love them. The main con is I probably dropped 1-2 mpg after putting these on; not surprising as I do a lot of stop-start city driving. I do take them on dirt roads in NH and they have performed with good traction on those roads. They are fine on main roads - probably a little 'sticky' when getting going for the first few hundred miles. This plus the weight over the OEM tires probably contributes to the MPG loss.
They are rock solid on snow and about as well as any tire I have driven on ice. The treadwear is great - they are also very COOL looking tires and when I got my car inspected the tech noticed them, and was surprised I had already had them a year.
Overall, best tires I have had. I previously had Falken Ziex on my impreza and liked them so Falken as a brand impresses me. But these wildpeaks have achieved every expectation I had.

...After 15,000 miles, plus or minus, they still have 8/32 of tread left...
The Wildpeaks were purchased and installed as a highly recommended tire for mixed road/off-road use, and I have not been disappointed! They are quiet and well-behaved on-road, and capable off-road. After 15,000 miles, plus or minus, they still have 8/32 of tread left. I've been able to test them in mud, light snow, dirt/gravel, and mixed/rocky terrain and observed no noticeable slip. They are as quiet on the asphalt as the touring/all-season tires they replaced.

...The life expectancy is higher too, considering we have put 10k miles on these tires and they still look brand new...
These tires are great and I would definitely buy them again. I put these on my wife's car, but when we go somewhere in her car, I am the one in the driver seat. We mostly drive around town with about 50/50 city/highway driving, but we have taken these on light trails in MOAB and they did not dissapoint. Things I cannot comment on include: snow/ice driving, more intense off-roading, wet conditions (cannot comment much, because we live in the desert).
Compared to the OEM Yokohama Geolander G91 tires that came on the car, these tires knock it out of the park. If I only drive on pavement, I would still pick these over the OEM tires. Reasons being comfort over bumps and rough road, noise level, feel, life-expectancy, price, and capability. These tires are very comfy on rough roads, and on newly paved roads, they are silent. They provide better feedback to the driver as well, despite being more off-road oriented. The life expectancy is higher too, considering we have put 10k miles on these tires and they still look brand new. They are cheaper than the OEMs, and lastly, they have thicker sidewalls than the OEMs in addition to the more aggressive tread pattern, so you wont need to worry if you want/need to take these on dirt, mud, whatever isn't pavement. Thanks to the thicker sidewall, these will avoid punctures better than other non-offroady tires as well! The only negative, and it is a small one, is fuel economy. I noticed a 1-3 mpg defecit compared to the OEMs, but I am am still managing to get 400 miles on 3/4 of a tank of gas in my Crosstrek when we take it on trips. These tires are extremely capable, and I recommend them for anyone anticipating light offroading or peace-of-mind over other options for the above-stated reasons. I think they are the best "I want to offroad sometimes but I mostly drive on pavement" tires. I am personally a michelin guy, but I will be purchasing these tires for my wife again since she is VERY VERY happy with them. She loves them.
