Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

Michelin's Classic tires are designed for vintage automobiles. Using modern materials and manufactured to original specifications, these tires are manufactured in small batches and designed to preserve the vehicle's driving character and provide period-correct aesthetics.

The XAS is Michelin's Grand Touring Summer tire designed for classic cars. An innovation to the tire world, it was the first tire with an asymmetric tread pattern, taking advantage of variations in weight distribution during driving to maximize performance. This modern iteration was engineered to improve and maintain the characteristics owners love about their vintage vehicles. The XAS delivers exciting performance and traction in warm, dry and wet conditions.

The XAS updates its classic tread pattern with modern compounding techniques for the best of both worlds. The lower void outer shoulder allows for more tread in continuous surface contact and greater available grip during cornering. Greater void along the inner shoulder aids the four circumferential grooves in displacing water from the contact patch to increase hydroplaning resistance. The zig-zag inboard channels augment grip in wet conditions, and sipes throughout provide the biting edges needed for additional traction when drivers need it most.

The XAS's internal construction is comprised of a dual-ply sidewall and polyester casing. Twin steel belts provide strong additional support for the tread and nylon reinforcement further aids in handling response and high-speed durability.

Making the Right Classic Car Tire Choice – 2025 Test 5(19:07)

Classic cars are a staple of the automotive enthusiast world, and there are more options than ever when choosing the right tire. Manufacturers like Michelin, Pirelli, and Vredestein have lineups of Classic Tires, which blend modern-day technology and performance with the aesthetics of vehicles dating from the 1990s to the 1950s. But are they worth it? To answer that question, we took two '80s vintage sports cars and tested them each with two Classic Tires and one modern offering that happens to fit.

...I am very happy with the traction in dry, wet and light snow...

Really like this tires. Moved on from BFG KO2 to the new Wildpeaks. It was a great decision and I couldn't be happier. I am very happy with the traction in both dry, wet and light snow. Only concern is, from day one they made some road noise.

Extremely pleased with these tires thus far. Not issues in dry, wet, or snowy conditions. Tractions is good as well as stopping distances. These make it easy to go from my rural roads or highway to off-road with full confidence. Would I purchase these Wildpeaks again, as long as they continue to wear well (which I think they will), it would be an easy decision to get these again!

...In the snow they provide great traction, fantastic bite...

As soon as I drove on them I could feel a great difference from my old Goodyear Wrangler A/T. Much quieter, better absorbing of road imperfections, solid and better road feedback. On the highway and around turns they are very responsive without the floating feeling of the Goodyear Wranglers but quieter. No problems doing 80 mph, smooth and track well. In the snow they provide great traction, fantastic bite. No problems with balancing, just make sure the yellow dot , on the tire, lines up with the valve stem, as per Falken. I run them with 35 lb of air. I just wish that we would have the option of raised white lettering. Strongly recommend them.

Very good tire in appearance, tread depth, traction, and stability. Haven’t had much rain since putting this set on, but I’d give it high marks for excellent performance on dry roads and dirt roads. I honestly was expecting a lot more road noise, but these Falkens are only slightly louder than the Bridgestone Duelers they replaced.

I was also surprised by how well they handled on the pavement - both in town, and on the highway. At no point was I worried about hydroplaning, or having grip while cornering, etc...

I live in rural New England, with a lot of dirt and gravel roads that can be incredibly muddy with deep ruts at times. I also have to travel a lot on the highways sometimes, so I have the best of both worlds. Recently there was a massive rain storm for several days, and it wrecked our local road - I had absolutely zero issues getting in and through the mud and ruts, and I was also surprised by how well they handled on the pavement - both in town, and on the highway. At no point was I worried about hydroplaning, or not having grip while cornering, etc.
I bought these in the spring, so I obviously haven't experienced any snow or ice yet, so I cannot comment on that.
The tires look great, with a nice aggressive profile, but they're not super loud on the road, so it's the best of both worlds.

...Tires are super quiet and comfortable driving...

2nd set of A/T4W - very happy with tires to date. Stayed with stock size as my 5th wheel trailer is already pushing 13'6" and didn't want to add any more height to it. Tires are super quiet (can't hear them over my diesel engine) and comfortable driving. Assuming traction will be excellent - it is on my other set of A/T4W.

Coming from the Toyo Open Country A/T's - The Falkens are WAY smoother, WAY quieter and just overall pure bliss. I have also had Ridge Grapplers in the past and these beat them hands down for comfort, all while still having an aggressive looking tread and side wall. My only complaint with these tires is that at highway speeds, with what I perceive to be softer sidewalls (that give this tire a better ride), it seems like there is a lot of "sway" in the tires when in corners. Picture a long, high speed turn/sweeper.... you're going 70mph... when you turn the wheel for the initial part of the curve, it's like the steering wheel turns, but then a delayed response as to when the body of the truck leans/sways due to super soft sidewalls. And it's not the truck or the suspension as this is a direct comparative to my Toyo's just coming off the truck. So my handling in high speed turns/corners can be a bit unsure footed with these new tires which I don't love. But yes I would buy them again as they make my F250 ride so much ---- better overall!

...About 2,500 miles off-road and 7,000 miles on highways...

Very good tire overall. Coming from General Grabber AT/X most recently. The tire is reasonably quiet on highways and performed extremely well off-road in a 2024 summer trip to Europe (Serbia/Bulgaria/Albania). About 2,500 miles off-road and 7,000 miles on highways. Extremely good on rocks and loose terrain, acceptable in mud (as long as you keep momentum and spin the tires to clear them). Fuel mileage was the same as the worn out Grabbers (which was 1-2 mpg better than the new Grabbers). Had one flat only from a sharp stick in the forest. One major sidewall impact (strong enough for front to need an alignment afterwards) left a poke mark but sidewall stayed intact.
Minor downsides: took a few hundred miles for break-in, in which they became much quieter and better riding. Thread and sidewall show lots of minor cuts, but I am not sure another tire would have done better (the off-road surface in the Balkans is often full of star shale rocks).
