Firestone Affinity Touring Reviews

Customer surveys indicate the Firestone Affinity Touring tire delivers strong dry traction (scores 8-10) with responsive handling, aligning well with its touring all-season purpose. However, treadwear scores show inconsistency (0-10 range), with many reports of premature wear. Comfort receives mixed feedback, with some praising a smooth ride (scores 7-10) while others note road noise or harshness (scores 0-5). Winter traction raises concerns (frequent 0-3 scores), suggesting limited confidence in snow. Wet performance is similarly inconsistent, with hydroplaning resistance scoring 3-6 in many cases. While dry performance shines, buyers prioritizing year-round capability or long-term durability may find trade-offs compared to typical all-season expectations.

2005 Ford Taurus-81,000 miles..
Just bought these tires. A definite improvement over the Cooper tires I had previously.
Dry traction- tires stick to the road like glue. Very quiet also.

...However, at highway speed 60-75 (and over), these tire have performed well for me and my older Solara, both on dry pavement and wet road including pooled water on the highway at highway speeds. Again, I am not corning like there's no tomorrow but I am confident taking clover leaf on/off ramps at higher than recommended traffic speeds, both wet and dry pavement...

Have put mostly highway miles on these tires. They are sized for current Camrys (205/65-16) and my specific version is rated 500 AB with "S" speed rating. Stock size for my car is 215/65-16. Note that these tires come in 500 AA and "H" speed ratings which also changes the tread depth. As noted by other reviewers, accelerating from a complete standstill on wet pavement is poor. With a 2.4L engine, I can always spin the tires when water is on the road. However, at highway speed 60-75 (and over), these tire have performed well for me and my older Solara, both on dry pavement and wet road including pooled water on the highway at highway speeds. Have not experienced hydroplaning and feel confident in the road contact. Again, I am not corning like there's no tomorrow but I am confident taking clover leaf on/off ramps at higher than recommended traffic speeds, both wet and dry pavement. They are quiet, which might have more to do with the car than the tires but I have not experienced any noise issues noted by other Toyota owners. These tires are stable (after a couple attempts at balancing - good results from my local big box store) and provide what I would call a "Highway Touring" feel - comfortable, but not squishy or driver-input-laggy. My current tread wear is 9/32" on the rears and 8/32" on the fronts, down from 10/32". I suspect that at suggested 32psi, I will get the expected 50,000 out of them. My current driving mileage averages about 30,000 per year, 90% highway. I am currently getting the average 33 mpg with these tires. For what they designed to be, good touring all-seasons, these tires perform as well as expected. The current price point is what I would value these tire at. Also note, I don't expect to have an all-seasons have superior performance in all weather conditions so I am swapping these out for winter tires this month and will replace these again in the spring. (Have purchased tires from TireRack previously. This review is for tires bought locally.

Mixed results with wet traction. Many scores between 0-6 indicate mediocre wet performance, hydroplaning concerns, and reports of sliding. Even with some 9s/10s, dissatisfaction is common for an all-season tire.

these tires were OEM on my 2014 Camry LE. They were very noise, handled poorly on wet surfaces and treadwear was terrible only 3/32 left at 25K miles, tires were always kept properly inflated and rotated. Extremely disappointed in these tires, would not recommend and will replace with a different tire / manufacturer.

...They have virtually no traction on any wet road condition, they ride terrible and have given us bad wear...

These tires that came on my new Camry Hybrid are bar none the worst tires I have ever owned. They have virtually no traction on any wet road condition, they ride terrible and have given us bad wear. They are rated as 55,000 mile tires and are now down to 2/32's of tread life with less than 25,000 miles. They have worn the most on both sides of all 4 tires. They are total crap and we just replaced them with General RT43 Altimax's.

I will never buy a Firestone tire again.

Winter traction ratings reveal significant concerns, with many customers scoring 0-5 for snow and ice performance. Frequent mentions of slippery conditions, loss of traction, and being stuck highlight poor winter handling. While some give 7-8s, the majority indicate unacceptable snow performance and unstable behavior in winter scenarios.

I got these tires on a rental car in upstate NY for a business trip. They are unbelievably dangerous in the snow. They spun just sitting at idle with the slightest pressure in the snow. I cannot over state how unstable they are in snowy weather. If you own them in the snowy areas, ditch them now! (Before they put you in a ditch)

...I live in New England where the it snows a good amount and even with a light flurry, I would lose control...

These tires came with my 2017 Camry and I have put 35000 on them and need new tires. I drive a lot and having tires that are reliable and last is very important. I feel that 35000 is very low number in today's day and age, especially with a Warranty of 5 years/ 50000 miles. I live in New England where the it snows a good amount and even with a light flurry, I would lose control. The tires are noisy and do not allow for a comfortable ride. I plan on staying away from the Firestone brand in the future.

I live in upstate New York. I NEED traction and handling. I got a month into December after I purchased the new vehicle. The least amount of snow and the handling went away. Off went the Firestone, on went the Michelin. I finished using them again toward the spring, a few years later when the Michelin were worn out.

...It's now 14 months and 16,417 miles later and the tread is gone. The tread was actually gone a few thousand miles ago...

I purchased a new 2017 Camry LE in May of 2017 and these tires came with the car. It's now 14 months and 16,417 miles later and the tread is gone. The tread was actually gone a few thousand miles ago. I've just been pushing my luck and driving very cautiously in wet weather. I have no idea how the tires passed inspection 2 months ago. They were rotated at 5K, 10K & 15K miles by the dealership. It's actually very disturbing that Toyota places these tires on their cars. Since new cars don't come with tire warranties I'm buying new tires on a new car I just got last year. Do not purchase these tires. They have marginal performance in dry weather and abysmal performance in any other weather conditions. The treadware is completely unacceptable. Living in the Pittsburgh, PA area we truly experience all 4 seasons and these tires didn't perform acceptably during any of them. If you live somewhere that it's always dry and you don't care about treadlife then these tires are marginally acceptable if you can get them for free. Otherwise do yourself a favor and don't consider these any further.
