The Firestone Destination LE2, Firestone's Highway All-Season tire, was developed for the drivers of light-duty pickups, vans, crossovers and sport utility vehicles. It is designed to combine long wear, a comfortable ride and all-season traction, even in light snow.

The Destination LE2 uses a silica-enhanced light truck compound molded into a symmetric tread design that helps grip the road in dry, wet and wintry conditions. Notched shoulder blocks backed by continuous ribs work together to promote dry road handling, even wear and long treadlife. Circumferential and sweeping grooves across the tire's footprint help evacuate water to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction. Cross grooves, stepped inside shoulder rib notches and zigzag sipes provide biting edges that promote traction in snow.

The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon to provide strength, uniformity and durability on top of a polyester cord body that helps cushion the ride.

...They are awesome on dry, wet, snow and ice roads...

I waited until now to post a review so I could rate all levels of weather and traction. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these tires. They are a year old now, have about 8000 miles on them. I bought during black friday last year, got one free when bought 3, which was a deal since $140 per tire. They are awesome on dry, wet , snow and ice roads. They dont leak alot of air, so checking once a month, only lose 1-2 psi per tire. Smooth and quiet on all kinds of roads, also bumpy roads on highways they silence somewhat. Just got snow/ice last week and eager to see how would handle...went thru the snow like it was melted butter and the ice at cautious speeds, gripped well esp when gently braking to stop. No rear sway ( rear drive ) or slippage on ice as driving cautiously. So very impressed with Firestone, havent bought since they had the recalls from over 15 yrs ago...they have a customer back.

...These tires are the best I've ever had for wet traction & hydroplaning resistance and they work pretty darn good in the snow...

I've used a lot of different tires on my Suburbans over the years, but these have been the best tire I've used so far! Great ride & handling along with being one of the quietest tires I've ever used on an SUV. These tires are the best I've ever had for wet traction & hydroplaning resistance and they work pretty darn good in the snow. I had a problem early on with these tires getting them balanced at first, they had to be RoadForce balanced to get them right even though I bought them mounted & balanced from Tire Rack on new rims. The other problem is that at 25000 miles, three out of the four will not balance even on a RoadForce machine. I would have expected a little more life out of these, they have already used up 1/2 of their tread depth.

One thing I will warn everyone on, if you buy your tires with new rims upgrade to McGard Tough Nut lug nuts! The lugnuts that Tire Rack sends you (included in the purchase of new wheels) are junk, I had 6 of them freeze on the studs and the rest rusted badly within 6 months. Do yourself a favor & spend the extra money for good lug nuts!

...Wet traction is very good so far. ABS has been quiet...

Use the TR reviews for my research, so I'll add a review. My truck had Dunlop Grandtrek for O.E. Tire was nothing special, but got 19 to 20 mpg (30 psi). Lasted 38K miles (rotate every 6K), then purchased a set of Yokohama Geolanders per the reviews. Could definitely feel the stronger sidewalls of this tire. Their wet road traction was fair, but my ABS seemed to kick in often, on wet roads. Was a decent tire, but dropped 1 to 2 mpg (32 psi). Got 48K miles on the Yokohama's. Pretty good tire, but a more aggressive tread and stiffer sidewalls, caused a stiffer ride, and more noise. Time for a new set, so after reading the reviews, I went with a set of Firestone Destination LE2. What a great tire! Haven't had Firestones, for a decade, but this is a great all season tire for my truck. My truck rides much smoother and quieter. Bumps are now just quiet thuds, instead of loud bangs. The ride is smooth and steady, and not jittery. The truck tracks straight, with little wander, even in the wind. Handling is very good. The tire takes an instant to load, but has excellent grip thru tight cornering. Wet traction is very good so far. ABS has been quiet. I'm very happy, because I got my 1 to 2 mpg back (35 psi). I'm very happy with this tire and the price, and if Firestone doesn't change it, I would buy another set.

...These tires handled the ice on the freeway very well. The Off ramps were not plowed on the way home. The first off ramp to not be plowed was getting off of I-694 to HWY 36 snow was at least a foot deep...

Just went through one of the worst winter storms in Minnesota/Wisconsin. Had to drive to the airport in Minnesota. These tires handled the ice on the freeway very well. The Off ramps were not plowed on the way home. The first off ramp to not be plowed was getting off of I-694 to HWY 36 snow was at least a foot deep. Yes I put my trusty Dodge Durango in 4H and and let er rip, I had my doubts about this tire and no longer do handled that off ramp like a champ. Then came the fun part.... I live in rural Wisconsin and when I got close to home ...no roads had been plowed, again had to put the old Durango in 4H and plow through about a mile and a half of snow drift that were about four feet high, it was a scary ride but these Firestone's did not have a problem with the high drifts and got me home bottom line. I was thinking of getting a pure A/T tire but now know these LE 2 tires out performed what I thought they could do. Nice tire !! If they keep it the same I will be buying these tires again when the time comes no need to research again.

...After a very hard winter with a lot of snow, they have handled very well in deep snow and ice...

I did extensive reviewing for tires for my Honda Pilot. I live in Illinois where we get a decent amount of snow and ice but at the same time I drive a lot of highway miles. I wanted something that handles well in the city and in the snow and rain. So far they are doing very well. After a very hard winter with a lot of snow, they have handled very well in deep snow and ice. On my highway commutes they are not a noisy tire. I was worried they might be at first but have been proved wrong. I have not noticed any difference in mpg either. I would definitely recommend these tires over the stock michelin tires any day.

Very Comfortable ride. Good snow traction. Very quiet on dry highway. Good response. Too soon to rate treadwear, however tire shows no treadwear after 4,000 miles. Vehicle never taken off road so unable to rate that aspect. 3rd set of tires on this Ridgeline. Michelin's were OE, replaced by General Grabbers, now Firestones. I am very pleased with the Firestones.

...Granted the tires are still relatively new they have lived up to their claim of providing a quiet and comfortable ride...

I have the Destination LE2 on my 05 Frontier replacing the Destination A/T and I have to say I'm very impressed thus far. Granted the tires are still relatively new they have lived up to their claim of providing a quiet and comfortable ride. Then again a change from an A/T tire to a highway tire is expected to do so. My gas mileage is about the same as with the A/Ts so I wouldn't put much worth in the advertisement of a 5% increase in fuel efficiency. The two things that stand out for me is the confident feel of the road (wet and dry) the tires provide and their snow traction. When I had the Destination A/Ts on my truck I seldom used the 4 wheel drive and worked out of small situations as any driver would without 4 wheel drive. Now having the LE2 installed I had expected to engage the 4 wheel drive more often but surprisingly they have gripped the snow very well. I imagine this will change as the tire wears but as of now I can't complain. I haven't gone off road with the LE2s on my truck but then again they are highway tires so readers who drive off road or on gravel need to be reasonable. Overall I am very please with the performance of the LE2 and would recommended them to any midsize truck owner.

I got it fixed drove about 500 miles to my test its started snowing and the tires did pretty good with the gusty snow winds and the ride was smooth all the vibration was gone no noin...

I am writing an early review for this tire, I had been a Michelin Fan , had always used Michelin Cross terrain on mine. The first set that came with the car started breaking down at 65,000 miles had good tread in it though still. But fear of comfort and road noise I went again with MCT the second time I changed but this time, within 25,0000 miles the tires were noisy uneven tread wear lots of vibration on the steering and while braking. I was very frustrated since I spent a lots of money on these tires and did not get what I paid for.I saw the Destination LE2 and had high reviews in tirerack, so i took a try with it the price difference was 200$ in the long run not a big difference between Michelin Ltx and the destination. I got it fixed drove about 500 miles to my test its started snowing and the tires did pretty good with the gusty snow winds and the ride was smooth all the vibration was gone no noise similar to MCT. I feel comfortable driving it. But yet to test on rain and driving in heavy snow and dry tarction. I would come back and give a review after I put more miles.

...I can tell you what a difference ride quality is now. Ride is nice and smooth, very comfortable. We could tell difference right away...

Just some information in regards to softer ride to a Lexus Rx 350 and 450h. It has been a tendency for automakers go with large wheel sizes. It does have better appearance on vehicle, but takes away quality of ride. Not performance. 2010 RX 350 was a very good example of this . Base model comes with a 18 " rims and tire size 235/60/18 with Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 tires V-speed rated. We test drove this car and bought it . But ride was horrible. It was so jumpy , we could feel every little bump on a road. Car drove like tires were overinflated a lot. When we check tire pressure , it was fine. Tires were worn down to 8/32, so it was still good. But wa could not have such a terrible ride. We decided to buy new tires. There are so many , you know. Hard to choose. I have utilized an NTB for my tires. They advised to go with Sumitomo Tour Plus LHV, what we deep. After installation was completed , we took our car home. The ride was even worse than with old tires. We would bounce up and down in seats even on small bumps. After doing some research and reading reviews on tire rack web site ,we decided to go with Firestone Destanation LE2. NTB agreed to change tires. I can tell you what a difference ride quality is now. Ride is nice and smooth, very comfortable. We could tell difference right away. Very happy about our choice. It is not needed to go with very high speed rating for a SUV , so we went with an H rated.

I am purchasing my 3rd set of these tires. They are great for highway driving, quite ride and good traction. I usually get 85,000 to 90,000 out of these tires. I wore out one set early due to not having the wheels aligned on a consistent schedule. I have 205,000 mile on the Santa Fe and hope to get to 300,000 with this new set of tires. Just remember to rotate your tires every 5,000 miles (for me its every 10 weeks.) and keep them aligned. Great tire and I would recommend them to everyone.

Tire Rack Customers,

I got 37,000 mileage from these tires, while driving a combined city/highway miles. These tires are great tires, comfortable and quiet. They handle great in all weather conditions. I used these tires in all weather conditions and was satisfied with their performance. But these tires just don't last their 60k tread life warranty. Firestone took ownership and gave me a credit for the tires not lasting their tread life warranty. After reviewing a lot of other tire options on Tire Rack, I noticed that a lot of different brand tires are only lasting about the same mileage as these.

Very very durable tire. We bought our CPO Rav4 with 48K miles and are replacing as I type this with exact same tires at 105K. There is still some tread so the 60k claim by Firestone is accurate. Ride comfort on the 18's is not spectacular but decent considering the treadlife. Handling is very good and Snow traction is good and predictable up to I would say about 3-4 inches. Great tire.
