High Performance All-Season tires are for drivers who want a combination of a sporty appearance, predictable handling and H- or V-speed rated durability along with all-season traction, including in light snow. High Performance All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans.
O.E. High Performance All-Season tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Feedback consistently shows the Firestone FR740 delivers excellent dry traction (scores 8-10 dominate) with responsive handling, aligning well with its high-performance all-season intent. Wet traction receives mixed feedback-some report solid hydroplaning resistance (7-8 scores), but lower ratings (0-5) highlight occasional instability in heavy rain. Comfort scores vary widely, with praise for smooth rides (7-10) countered by complaints about harshness and noise (0-3). Treadwear raises concerns, as many report rapid wear (scores 0-5 common), though a few note acceptable longevity (7-10). While excelling in dry conditions, buyers should weigh wet performance consistency and tread life against their driving needs.

...Dry traction was very good with nothing negative to mention...
These tires came OEM on my new 2015 Toyota Corolla S. I had never driven Firestone tires before so had no idea what to expect. I experienced some hydroplaning in heavy rain and never trusted the tires in wet weather after that but had no significant issues. Dry traction was very good with nothing negative to mention. The tires were not quiet and became even louder and not as smooth as they accumulated more wear. The treadwear on this particular set of tires was phenomenal, at least based on my experience. I replaced them at 80,000 miles with tread still left. I did rotate the tires every 5,000 miles and the greatest majority of driving was open highway for a 100 mile one way commute four days a week. I replaced them with Cooper Zeon RS3-G1s. We'll see how these do.

...I almost never hear them squeal, and this is on a Corolla S- hardly a high-performance sports car suspension!...
In my opinion, this tire suffers from the same thing as other popular OE fitments: guys like to be critical of whatever the manufacturer put on the car and they want new, more interesting tires.
These tires came on a 2013 Corolla S I bought a while back. My first thought was, they must be cheap because the factory installs them and that's what this dealer chose to put on this lease turn-in. But I decided to give them a chance.
I've been amazed. Although they are a W rated tire, they ride smoother than many H rated tires I have owned. The tread pattern is pretty aggressive yet not very noisy compared to other W and H rated tires I have had from Michelin and Yokohama. I almost never hear them squeal, and this is on a Corolla S- hardly a high-performance sports car suspension! In rain, they are predictable and stable. I have not driven in much snow or ice but the few times I did, they were likewise solid and predictable. I notice folks often give a tire a very bad rating for snow or ice (a 1 or 2) as if any loss of traction means the tire failed. This is unreasonable. A studded snow tire is one thing; but an all-season tire cannot truly stick in ice, the best you can ask for is some warning when it's losing grip and some confidence in getting it back. These tires gave me exactly that and that's why I gave them good ratings for those conditions.
I recently traded in the 2013 for a new 2017 Corolla SE and was pleased to find the same tires on this car.

The FR740's wet traction shows mixed results, with many customers scoring between 0-6. Reports of sliding, floating on wet roads, and tendency to hydroplane highlight mediocre wet performance, disappointing for an all-season tire.

...Wet traction is atrocious...
I recently purchased a Honda Fit Sport for a daily driver. It's a great little car on horribly horrid tires. Wet traction is atrocious. The sidewalls are very flimsy.I have less road noise from the sticky Hankook RS-4s on my Chumpcar. To top it all off while driving to the grocery store this afternoon I had a sidewall blow out on me. It's a brand new car and now I'm stuck with the predicament of do I purchase one of these tires for a ridiculous price of $131.00 or just get an all new set of something better?

These tires came new on my 2017 Honda Fit, and I've driven less than 10,000 miles with these tires on. These tires are loud at all speeds, scary in wet conditions. They had little traction in light snow causing panic in the wife and me on the highway. I've driven on summer tires that had better handling in wintry conditions than these tires. I will fairly consistently lose traction when accelerating from a stop in all conditions if I am not extremely careful with my clutch control. This happens with my very conservatively driving wife on dry roads as well.
I would NOT recommend these tires to anyone as you can purchase tires with a higher level of comfort and (especially) control in the same price range if not cheaper. Piece of mind is forcing me to buy new tires after only four months in this new car.

These are some scary tires in wet conditions. They have a tendency to hydroplane at 55mph when you hit even the slightest amount of standing water on the highway. My wife has had the traction control light come on in the rain once and we have both noticed the car wanting to get squirrelly in the rain...
These are some scary tires in wet conditions. They have a tendency to want to hydroplane at 55mph when you hit even the slightest amount of standing water on the highway. My wife has had the traction control light come on in the rain once and we have both noticed the car wanting to get squirrelly in the rain. If you buy a Corolla with them factory you will want to replace them if you have had experience driving with higher end tires. I wouldn't feel safe with them in the winter if they feel this unsafe in rain! My wife is not a spirited driver and usually doesn't notice things like this but she picked up on it like a bad habit! Buyer beware!!

Winter Traction scores show concerning patterns, with many ratings between 0-5. Customers report slippery in snow, loss of traction, and getting stuck despite being an All-Season tire. Some 7s and 8s exist, but frequent 0s in ice highlight unacceptable winter performance.

I have just gone through my first winter with these tires. While the are very good on dry pavement, they are the worst tires I have ever owned for snow. I have never needed snow tires on a car & have always had very good luck with all season tires in the past. Avoid these tires if you plan to drive in snow!

These are the tires that came on my new 2016 Honda Fit EX.
I love the car, but these tires provide a very firm harsh ride and very poor traction on wet roads or snow covered roads. With even a dusting of snow traction lessens significantly and requires very careful driving behaviors. Definitely not recommended for driving in anything greater than an inch of snow cover. Traction even on dry roads is acceptable if you drive carefully, but if you've got a heavy foot you'll likely burn through these tires quickly.
Initially, when the tires were new, the ride was acceptable, but the ride becomes increasingly very harsh and noisy as the tread wears. Although I've only worn 50% of the tread life, I'm looking forward to replacing them soon.

These tires came on my 2015 Corolla S. I live in Wisconsin and drive in snow. These are HORRIBLE tires in snow, light or heavy. I wanted new tires by the time I hit 20k but decided to hold out as long as I could. At 30k the car would barely go straight through the snow. Luckily the season was almost over and I decided to make them last through the non snow months. I am now getting new tires before this new winter. These are fine for no snow. But definitely don¿t last long. Fine summer tire for the first 20k. Don¿t waste your money on these

Comfort ratings reveal frequent low scores (0-6), with complaints of harsh ride, unbearable noise, and poor quality. Some 7-10s exist, but dissatisfaction dominates for this all-season tire.

...These tires are noisy as heck. Even worse they are incredibly uncomfortable tires. You will feel EVERY bump in the road...
I agree with the reviews here. These tires came OEM from Toyota.
First the good.
Traction wise these tries do great in rain and snow. No problems there. So from a safety perspective they are great.
Now the bad.
These tires are noisy as heck. Even worse they are incredibly uncomfortable tires. You will feel EVERY bump in the road. Even on a perfectly smooth looking road you will find and feel bumps no other tire would. While I gave it high scores for traction, for noise and comfort it gets a 0.
Will not recommend this tire and would not buy after market.

...Noise and comfort, heh, well these tires are horrible!!! I will not buy them again for that reason.
These came stock on my new 2015 Toyota Corolla S. It is a decent tire as far as traction and treaswear. I have 60k miles on them, they have been rotated every 5k by toyota but they definitely need replaced now, actually prob about 5k ago. Traction wet and dry is pretty good when they were new, wet traction definitely slipped pretty fast after about 20k miles. Only had to drive it twice in snow and it wasn't horrible or great. Noise and comfort, heh, well these tires are horrible!!! I will not buy them again for that reason.

...They are loud, not very sporty, and kind of soft on the corners...
These came OEM on a 2015 Fit LX 6speed manual. Coming from high performance AWD sports cars and SUVs I wasn't sure what to expect. Tires perform well in snow up to 3 inches or so, haven't had many issues on ice/snow/slush and have driven quite a bit through the elements even with the 1000 miles or so I have on the tires. They are loud, not very sporty, and kind of soft on the corners but I would say these are definitely better than most of the ticky tape OEM tires you would get on a car.

Treadwear shows concerning patterns with many 0-6 scores. Customers report rapid wear, premature tread loss, and needing early replacement. While some rate 8-10, dissatisfaction with tread life is notable for a High Performance All-Season tire.

Worst tire I have ever owned. I have already replaced one tire now looking like 2 more need replaced. The car only has 3000 miles on them. Toyota tells me I should have got insurance, I say why are they putting such bad tire on their cars that I need to insure them.

...The largest issue I had with the tires was how fast the tread disappeared. At 41,600 miles, the tread was less than 2/32 and so I had to get new tires...
I drive 36k miles a year, 80% highway commute, and mostly between PA & MD. I tend to drive lightly for decent gas mileage. The tires overall were adequate. In dry conditions they had decent grip and were predictable. In wet conditions, things could be a little slippery if caution isn't taken: more so when braking than acceleration. In snow, they were able to get by as long as a slow, steady pace was maintained; however, braking in the snow was generally a bit nerve-wrecking. The tread wore evenly. The largest issue I had with the tires was how fast the tread disappeared. At 41,600 miles, the tread was less than 2/32" and so I had to get new tires. I did not purchase these tires again because I do not want to have to spend the money to replace them every 14 months - especially when comparable tires cost much less, have a higher treadlife(one that is backed by warranty), and better over all reviews.

...I have (only) put about 10,300 miles on them so far, and already the sidewall labeling is stripping off. I have them rotated as part of my complementary dealer maintainance program, and the wear is rediculous. I would be surprized to see another 15,000 miles out of them...
These are the factory tires that were on the vehicle upon delivery. I have (only) put about 10,300 miles on them so far, and already the sidewall labeling is stripping off. The road noise is HORRENDOUS; compared to the Conti True Contacts I had on my older vehicle, these are LOUD. I will be changing to the Conti's when these wear out.
