Firestone FT140 Reviews

Customer feedback data reveals strong comfort ratings (7-10) with many praising the smooth, quiet ride quality. Treadwear scores (7-10) show durable performance, aligning well with grand touring expectations. Winter traction (0-6) raises concerns, with frequent low scores in snow and ice highlighting limitations for severe conditions. Wet traction (7-10) earns consistent praise for secure handling and hydroplaning resistance. Dry traction (7-10) stands out as a strength, with high marks for responsive steering and confident cornering. While ideal for all-season touring in moderate climates, drivers needing reliable winter performance may find this tire less suited to harsh conditions.

Tires have great grip around corners or slippery/rainy roads. Car seems to stop a lot better but the noise when driving at higher speeds is a tad more compared to my older tires.

...No complaints with traction wet or dry.

These tires have been great. We live in Florida and mostly highway miles.
Currently at 105,000, ready to buy another set of the same tires.
No complaints with traction wet or dry.

...However they are quiet, no cupping and tire and offers good grip in dry and wet...

We have 21k miles and there is cracking between the treads on the surface of the tires. Only about 3/32 left after 21k miles. Snow ice traction now is terrible. However they are quiet, no cupping and tire and offers good grip in dry and wet. Would avoid for anyone who has snow or ice. Question the longevity

...Handling very good to excellent in dry conditions...

Found tires somewhat noisy for 1st 500 miles but they seem fine now. Handling very good to excellent in dry conditions. Haven't pushed it extremely hard in wet conditions and haven't noticed any slippage or hydro plaining in heavy rain at speeds up to 70mph. Consider these tires the best OEM tires I have ever had. I usually drive on Michelin all weather tires. So far these Firestones seem about equal. Will update after the 2017/2018 winter season

...These tires do pretty well in dry conditions. I feel confident slugging my car around corners faster than I should be with these tires in dry conditions. When traction does break in dry conditions, it's very predictable...

Like many other reviewers here, these tires came on my car from factory. The mileage on my car is at about 45k, and I purchased the car at around 37k. Over the course of these miles, I've noticed these things:

DRY, WARM CONDITIONS:
These tires do pretty well in dry conditions. I feel confident slugging my car around corners faster than I should be with these tires in dry conditions. When traction does break in dry conditions, it's very predictable.

DRY, COLD CONDITIONS:
While these tires are pretty good in the dry and warmer seasons, when things get chilly, but snow has not yet fallen, these tires start to show their ugly side. There was this one time when I had to brake relatively hard (maybe about 70% of the brake pedal), and even though it was dry outside, the tires started losing traction, and the ABS had to kick in to save me. All season tires start to harden at about 40-ish degrees (f), and these tires are no exception to that.

WET CONDITIONS:
When accelerating from a dead stop, it takes a lot of throttle control to not spin the tires when the roads are wet. The amount of times I've spun the wheels from a standstill in the rain has me concerned about my tread ware. As for cornering, in the rain it's relatively good, and I haven't noticed any hydroplaning from these tires ever.

LIGHT SNOW:
The most snow I've ever driven with these tires on was when the roads were covered with about 2-3 inches of snow. Like in the rain, these tires spin easily from a standstill in the snow. These tires will get you going, however. I have never once gotten stuck in the snow with the tires. Just be aware that you're traction control light is going to be going off like crazy when driving in the snow with these tires.

Also, road noise with these tires is REALLY BAD. First time my uncle drove my car, that was the first thing he noticed.

One last thing: at 45k miles, rear tires are still pretty meaty, but fronts have me a bit concerned. Will likely replace fronts within 10k

...In the dry I find it amazingly easy to pitch this car into turns at the limit and it's easy...

Came stock on our new Civic coupe. My daughter drives it and I warned her as yesterday was her first real experience driving in the snow and ice and it was especially slick. First of all I amazed to how well the Civic drives and goes down the road. In my opinion the suspension tuning is at and beyond many cars that cost more than twice as much. In the dry I find it amazingly easy to pitch this car into turns at the limit and it's easy. So the tires are not bad at all. To me the tires look like they would be OK most of time in the slick. I took it out for spin last night and it was OK but for my daughter I'm going to re-shoe. This is coming from a guy who spent 6 daily driving years behind the wheel of a 2002 911 C2 coupe with Blizzaks, amazingly fun set up. Once ripped around a frozen lake with 3 inches of perfectly smooth fresh pow!

...The ride comfort is good in this small compact type vehicle and rides quiet unless the road has a lot of cross graining...

Bought two tires as replacements for OEM due to tire damage from an accident. The original OEM were very good in day to day driving and I saw no reason to switch brands. The ride comfort is good in this small compact type vehicle and rides quiet unless the road has a lot of cross graining. We seldom see any snow and very little ice in my part of the country (central Louisiana) so did not rate them for those categories.

...After nearly 2 years and 77,000+ miles the OEM Firestone FT140s tires are still performing and have enough tread left to not need replacement, yet. Granted, not a lot of tread, maybe another 3,000 to 6,000 miles, but they're still good... When I bought the Civic I thought I'd be buying a new set around the 50,000 mark but I have been totally surprised by the tread wear...

I bought my 2016 Civic EX-L in April of 2016 and after nearly 2 years and 77,000+ miles the OEM Firestone FT140s tires are still performing and have enough tread left to not need replacement, yet. Granted, not a lot of tread, maybe another 3,000 to 6,000 miles, but they're still good and it just snowed about 4 inches this morning and I found traction to be normal. I drive a combination of Interstate and surface streets, I watch tire pressures and rotate and balance every 8-10 thousand miles... and I don't do the "boy racer" thing screaming around corners. Pretty honest driving. When I bought the Civic I thought I'd be buying a new set around the 50,000 mark but I have been totally surprised by the tread wear. I normal buy Michelins, Pirellis or Continentals but I plan to buy another set of FT140s for the next set. They are not the quietest tires I have ever had but I would rather have a slightly noisy tire from the 50K to 70K mark than one that has no tread left after 40,000. It's all about trade-offs. Pick yours.

...At 100k they aren't even close to the wear indicator. You can't go wrong with these tires...

These are the original tires that came with the car. I cross rotate them every 10k and commute (highway) 105 miles a day to work. At 100k they aren't even close to the wear indicator. You can't go wrong with these tires. I still don't understand how these tires are holding up as well as they are, but I'm not complaining. I just turned 105k. I'm looking at prices because I'm thinking they with need to be replaced at some point.

This tire is not acceptable in even light snow. Toyota made a big mistake selling the car with the tire so I'll never buy another car without evaluating the tires too. Swapped out the tires with only 35k because of this - plenty of tread so I was disappointed but they're just like driving on skates.
