Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

AltiMAX RT45 is a versatile Grand Touring All-Season tire for sedans, coupes, and CUVs, developed for drivers seeking a balance of all-season handling, comfort, and longevity. The AltiMAX RT45 offers confident dry and wet performance as well as satisfying light snow traction.

The General AltiMAX RT45 tire's all-season compound is molded into a symmetric tread pattern featuring robust interlocking tread blocks for reliable handling and satisfying dry grip. Four circumferential grooves evacuate water to promote wet weather traction and hydroplaning resistance. Lateral voids, shoulder slots, and sipes across the footprint create additional biting edges for improved traction in slippery conditions. The AltiMAX RT45 also comes equipped with technology to visually alert drivers of wear issues. Visual Alignment Indicators (VAI) on the shoulder blocks wear off evenly to indicate proper alignment. Uneven wear warns the driver of alignment issues. A Replacement Tire Monitor (RTM), imprinted into the AltiMAX RT45 center rib wears to read, "REPLACE TIRE" when change is needed.

The General AltiMAX RT45 internal construction consists of two steel belts atop a polyester casing. A polyamide reinforcement ply further stabilizes the tread to provide high-speed handling and durability.

...I also drove through standing water at about 45-50 and these cut through the water with barely any resistance...

21 Tesla Model 3 AWD (Long Range)

So far, these tires have far exceeded my expectations. I have always purchased EV specific tires in the past and sometimes have had very mediocre to poor experiences with them. These tires so far have been a wonderful surprise at a much cheaper price.

Traction
The traction has been good on all surfaces I've driven on, pavement, snow, ice. These tires allowed my car to seamless pull off of a sunk in snow/ice parking spot with less effort than the dedicated winter tires I had replaced with these. The road noise has also been noticeably quieter, I don't notice the hum I've experienced from past tires. Handling has been excellent, I have not noticed any instance of tire slippage. I also drove through some standing water at about 45-50 and these cut through the water with barely any resistance.

There is a bit of loose soil/mud off the side of my driveway. I got stuck with the winter tires I previously had, the car started sliding sideways and even with AWD and limited slip engaged, I could not get out. These tires didn't even notice it, no slippage at all.

Range
I have seen a remarkable improvement in range over previous tires. I normally averaged 300 wh/mi in a vehicle rated for 220. I always thought there was something else going on with the car. I'm now at 222 wh/mi and I think I can get that lower. This is with driving mostly 55mph, some 45mph, mostly highway with some city.

I'm hoping the tread lasts as long as they claim, if they do, I will not hesitate to buy these tires again. I may even purchase a second set sooner if I see the tread is holding up, just to have on my second set of rims.

Would absolutely purchase again.

I have driven approximately 1,000 miles on these tires at this time, so I can not comment on treadwear.

Great tire, very quiet with a better than average steering response. Handles wet and dry environments Great. No hydoplanning experienced. Grabs on cornering superbly. Stable and long wearing. Would recommend this tire as a top three all around performer and the price is amazing.

Wanted to try these. Much less expensive than the more popular brands. They have been great… more quiet, good ride, better than the Conti's I replaced. Had a chance to try these in light snow today. Wow! I was afraid I wouldn’t have sufficient tread, but it was like driving a track vehicle. Very pleased. I’ll buy them again when needed. Perfect for my car and I’m a bit of a tire nut.
Suggested a friend buy them for the same model Tesla. He is also sold on them…

...The 3rd day I had these on the car, I had drove to Western Nebraska and got a surprise in snow with over a foot of snow. While I can definitely say these don't perform as well as actual snow tires (which I didn't expect them to), they were sufficient and predictable, leaving me with sense of confidence and I was still able to navigate with no unexpected surprises...

I do a lot of driving for my job so I will usually spend the extra money to get the best product because reliability is extremely important to me. However, I also do a lot of reviews before making big purchases like this. I saw these had a similar rating as the more expensive brands and excellent reviews so I decided to give them a chance. So far, I have not been disappointed at all. I've put about 2000 miles on them so far and they've performed as good or better than I expected. The 3rd day I had these on the car, I had drove to Western Nebraska and got a surprise snow storm with over a foot of snow. While I can definitely say these don't perform as well as actual snow tires (which I didn't expect them to), they were sufficient and predictable, leaving me with sense of confidence and I was still able to navigate with no unexpected surprises.

On one stretch of my travel, the speed limit was 80 mph so I decided to see how they felt at a higher speed. 100 mph was no problem. No vibrations and the grip still felt great. They have been quiet and seem to handle well. Fuel mileage hasn't changed much from the previous set that was on the car (whatever came from the factory).

I'll try to update this as time goes on but so far, I'm impressed. Great value for the money and I'd definitely recommend these.

...Excellent traction in snow or on the ice...

These tires are great for an all-season tire! I've been using the RT43 since they were released! Excellent tire for the family cruiser! Excellent traction in snow or on the ice. Great on wet or dry roads! The OEM tires on this car were just "ok". The RT43s are a vast improvement and will keep using them in the future! I use Tireracks ratings and reviews and make my own choices. Ship the tires to an authorized installer for installation.

...On dry pavement, there was an immediate improvement in cornering ability and grip. The car felt planted and much more confident in the curves and perform even better when you push them harder...

When searching for new tires, the factors I was most interested in were handling, especially in wet weather including moderate snow since the OEM Conti’s I felt were very poor even in the rain. Other considerations were the impact to EV range, comfort, and cost. After owning the tires now for about 2K miles, I have to say I am very pleased overall with the choice. One thing to note is after installation, it was a little bouncy, but after about 1K miles the tires settled down. The first thing I noticed right away was the improved handling. On dry pavement, there was an immediate improvement in cornering ability and grip. The car felt planted and much more confident in the curves and perform even better when you push them harder. Wet traction is also night and day better than the OEM tires, likely because of the deeper grooves and tread pattern. I have not used them in any sort of snow yet, so cannot comment. The next thing I noticed as how much smoother and more comfortable the ride was with these Generals. It did not transform my car into a 70’s Cadillac, but it was very noticeable. One note on tire noise which was a mixed bag when I reviewed prior comments. I would say the tire is about the same as the OEM, and maybe a little louder on some very rough roads. On EV range, the good news is that I have not seen any noticeable range degradation. If I were to estimate its maybe a 1-2% hit in worst case scenario, but the benefits as mentioned above far outweigh any range loss. I had a Model 3 previously and changed the OEM tires to the Vredestein Quatrac Pro’s. They were great tires all around, but the range hit was more like 10% which was one of the reasons I did not opt for that tire for the Model Y. Lastly on cost, these tires are the best bang for your buck out there for the Model Y. I was willing to take a chance based on many positive reviews but was also somewhat skeptical. After driving on them for close to 2K miles, I am very impressed and pleas

We rated them highest for wet traction and highest for dry traction and for a quiet and comfortable ride... There is nothing bad to say about the RT45's, they are a grippy, comfortable tire, and are very quiet.

We had the RT43's previously on our 2003 Highlander and would have purchased those again, but TR did not list the size needed for our new-to-us 2008 Highlander Limited. The RT45's are a natural choice. We rated them highest for wet traction and for dry traction and for a quiet and comfortable ride. We expect to get 50k-55k miles out of these before replacement. There is nothing bad to say about the RT45's, they are a grippy, comfortable tire, and are very quiet.

...They are very quiet and comfortable...

Bought locally but posting here. In the past I have had two sets of Pirelli AS Plus 3's to compare the Generals to. I was very pleased with the traction, quietness and low rolling resistance of that tire. It was definitely a luxury tire and is highly rated here on TireRack. This time around I wanted to save a few bucks so went with the Generals and I am very pleased. They are very quiet and comfortable. I also like the more 'open' tread block design for driving in this coming winter's snow. Rolling resistance (gas mileage) is low, similar to the Pirellis. In day to day driving the only difference from the Pirellis behind the wheel is that the steering isnt quite as precise but I am picky - most people wouldnt even notice. Recommended especially if you want to save a few bucks.

...Stock tires lasted about 20k ( and were horrible in every catagory), a set of Kumos lasted 30k, but these have 55k on them now and they still have 30% tread life left... I should add that I drive this car like a race car half the time and still have gotten this many miles out of a set of tires. I could easily see a normal driver getting 100k miles out of these.

Best tire I've ever had one the Rav4 Prime! Stock tires lasted about 20k ( and were horrible in every catagory), a set of Kumos lasted 30k, but these have 55k on them now and they still have about 30% tread life left. This is an immensely heavy and powerful car that eats tires, but these deliver superior grip in every scenario. I should add that I drive this car like a race car half the time and still have gotten this many miles out of a set of tires. I could easily see a normal driver getting 100k miles out of these.
