The G-MAX RS is General's Ultra High Performance Summer tire designed for the drivers of performance sedans, modern muscle cars, sports cars and sporty coupes looking for bold performance in warm dry and wet conditions. Like all summer tires, the G-MAX RS is not intended to be driven, stored nor serviced in near- or below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

General G-MAX RSA high-performance summer compound is molded into the G-MAX RS's purposeful, directional tread pattern. The solid center rib provides confident on-center feel and aids acceleration and braking, while General's SmartGrip Technology provides crisp steering response and sporty handling. StabiliTread Technology creates a wide contact patch with even pressure distribution to benefit both cornering traction and tire longevity. Wide, angled notches in the intermediate ribs help channel water to the deep circumferential grooves to resist hydroplaning, and along with open shoulder slots create biting edges for traction in slippery conditions.

Internal Construction of the G-MAX RS consists of a single-ply polyester casing. The high-turnup casing improves steering response and results in a two-ply sidewall. Two high-strength steel belts feature a two-ply polyamide reinforcement to further enhance handling, along with providing high-speed capability.

G-MAX RS tires utilizes General's SmartMonitor Technology, with the words "Replacement Tire Monitor" molded into the tire's center rib. When the tire reaches 2/32" remaining tread depth, the Replacement Tire Monitor evolves to read "Replace Tire" alerting the driver the tire has reached the wear bars.

Ultra High Performance Summer tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels, or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Note: Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Ultra High Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. While compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

...Great Dry and Wet Traction. Great Price. Great Performance...

General G-Max RS: I purchased these tires after researching for countless hours. I wanted a good set of Sport Performance tires to go on my 2012 Mustang I just purchased. There wasn't a lot of information out there on the RS, but what I found, I liked!! After getting the tires delivered to my local preferred shop in less than 48 hours, I took them out for a test. And MAN, these babies are sweet. You won't be disappointed. Great Dry and Wet Traction. Great Price. Great Performance. And with a 45k mile warranty and 45 day trial period, you have to try them for yourself.

...Got unexpected rain also soon after installation, so I got to test their performance in wet weather conditions. The deep water channels really work. These tires are - perhaps - the best summer tires I've tried in wet conditions. Unbelievable traction on wet roads...

I now better understand what the hype is all about. Put around 500 hard miles so far. These tires are excellent in their category. The price plus current $70 rebate made the purchase a no-brainer. Dry traction and cornering are excellent pushing through the most aggressive highway conditions in the southwest open desert roads. Very good grip and steering response. The tires also make a comfortable ride and absorb road imperfections quite well. Some owners complain about noise. I have a loud rotary engine so I whether the tires are noisy or not it's irrelevant in my case.

Got unexpected rain also soon after installation, so I got to test their performance in wet weather conditions. The deep water channels really work. These tires are - perhaps - the best summer tires I've tried in wet conditions. Unbelievable traction on wet roads.

No experience on a track, so I cannot comment on that. I can imagine the tires would perform quite well on the track, and there are some legitimate reviews online with high horse power vehicles on a track to confirm that assumption. Of course, not sure this would be the best tire for a track-only vehicle. But again, most people with track-only vehicles typically go with track-only tires anyway, so that's a mute point.

Overall this is an excellent summer tire. It performs well, it makes the ride comfortable and the price range along with with the current rebate makes it a super deal. Unmounted, they felt significantly lighter than other tires I've used. They replaced a set of Continental summer tires. Though Continental also produces General, so far I am thinking that the these tires are performing better than the Continental ones they replaced.

Also, for those who care, it is a good looking tire too. The sides are mostly plain looking but the directional thread pattern looks really good. Highly recommended!

...After driving on them a while, I've found that I pretty much agree with Tirerack's testing conclusion. They are a very good all around tire...maybe a little better than indicated in ride and comfort, but also not quite as good as indicated in raw dry grip.

In the absence of good reviews of this little known tire, I'd thought I'd add my .02. Everyone says that you have to put Michilins Pilot Sports on a Porsche 911. Admittedly, they are very good tires. However, at almost half the price, I thought I'd give these General G-MAx RS's a try. They are technically made by Continental and are a brand new design. Figuring that the latest technology is probably the best technology in tires, I ordered them up.

The only info I could get about them was Tirerack themselves (sorry, Tirerack, but sometimes you guys are a little too friendly to point out the flaws in tires you are hawking).

After driving on them a while, I've found that I pretty much agree with Tirerack's testing conclusion. They are a very good all around tire...maybe a little better than indicated in ride and comfort, but also not quite as good as indicated in raw dry grip. Wear has been very, very good. Aquaplaning resistance is great, no concerns there at all.

If you drive a Porsche 997 100% on the street and are concerned that these tires are so cheap that they can't be good, I can confirm your concerns are unfounded. These are very good tires at a great price. I would much rather have these brand new than half worn Michelin Pilot's any day.

I do a bit of spirited driving out on the road as well as racing in Autocross. These tires were replacing the nearly bald stock Dunlops that came with the WRXs. Right off the bat, I noticed a sharper turn in response as well as better cornering stability compared to the Dunlops. I used these tires for a couple of Autocross events, and these held up great. The steering was predictable as well as the grip, going through slaloms felt stable and precise. The limits of the tire are easy to figure out and it tends to hold grip well even when pushed to it's limits. I have used BFG Rivals in the past before, which were extremely grippy when hot but had a very pronounced limit/break point. The G-Max RS was not as grippy as the Rivals, but they are a lot more predictable and in certain areas, more stable. Because of the tire compound (Summer tires) they do feel a bit slippery when it's cold, which is not noticeable for daily driving, but it's very noticeable in AutoX. I can't say much about the wet traction aspect of these tires, as I have not to driven enough in the hard rain. However, they seem to hold up perfectly with no sight of hydroplaning or loss of grip. I have driven through puddles of water with no problems whatsoever, but I have yet to drive my car hard in the rain with these tires.
In terms of comfort, these tires are a bit loud when driving, which may not be ideal for everyone. It is noticeable especially on uneven roads, which can be a bit annoying. The G-Max RS can feel a bit rough, depending on what tires you're coming from. I can feel many imperfections on the road when driving and dips/bumps can be harsh. The last thing I can say about these tires is that these seem to wear very well. Even after a few AutoX events, they look like they're brand new which is a big plus.

In conclusion, these are great tires that hold up very well especially for the price. They are perfect for normal daily driving, but may leave a bit to be desired if you plan on racing.

...As for handling, I have tested these tires at nearly 1.0 Gs of force in turns, and they have not slipped or skipped whatsoever. The unique outer tread design tightens as weight transfers across the tire, improving lateral grip while also providing an auditory note that increases in proportion to the stress on the tire. The tires offer sharp and direct turn-in that is predictable and easily controlled.

When shopping for tires for my 2010 CTS-V, I needed something that would handle spirited driving with occasional track duty, but would also maintain long-term durability, comfort, and reliability in various weather conditions. I began looking into mid-range UHP tires to see what was offered at a more competitive price than Michelins or Continentals. I called Butch at Tire Rack to gather suggestions, and he mentioned an all-new offering from General that was designed to best the B-segment in every performance category. I decided to do some research, and the test results for the General G-Max RS held lofty claims that piqued my interest. For the price, I couldn't beat the claimed performance along with the 45,000 mile warranty and 360 UTGQ treadwear rating. While only putting around 2,000 miles on the tires, they have been incredibly impressive. From new asphalt to gravel pavement, dry surfaces to wet, the G-Max has provided excellent comfort and a quiet ride. I was immediately impressed by the ride quality, as the G-Max has a slightly softer sidewall than other UHP tires, which provides a smoother ride without being so soft that handling is negatively affected. The tires offer sharp and direct turn-in that is predictable and easily controlled. The car feels very nimble, impressive given the softer sidewall design. Another factor is straight-line acceleration. Besides wheelspin in 1st gear, the G-Max handles a ¾ throttle pull in my 550 RWHP/580 RWTQ CTS-V with little drama. At full throttle, 1st gear and 2nd gear spin, and the tires finally catch traction in 3rd, but this is to be expected. Overall, I am incredibly impressed with this tire.

...comfortable, relatively quiet high-performance summer tire with excellent grip!

I'm very impressed with the performance-to-price ratio of these tires! I drive pretty aggressively and found these tires to be a great fit for the GLA45's sporty handling characteristics - they're responsive, grippy, and predictable at the limit. Tire noise, wear, and wet traction and have been impressive for this type of tire. I think I'd be pretty cautious on snow & ice, but I live in OK where we seldom see snow/ice on the road. Highly recommended for a comfortable, relatively quiet high-performance summer tire with excellent grip!

...Treadwear has been great as well...

Put these on the Carerra S about 10 months ago and do mostly local spirited driving. My local tire place recommended this new General Brand as a very affordable option over the Michelin, Pirelli or Bridgestone options. At about 60% the cost of the others, I thought I give them a try and I am very happy with them. Smooth, relatively quiet ride, good cornering and pretty secure wet weather performance, although I don't really drive my convertible too much in the rain. Treadwear has been great as well. I don't track the car so I really can't comment in that regard but for normal, fun, spirited driving in my 911, I couldn't be happier with these tires. Don't hesitate to give them a try!

...Also the treadwear so far is negligible with 8000 hard driven miles with a few burnouts for good measure !!!...

Have had these on my '08 Vette for 8k miles. Extremely impressed with the performance/price point.
Bought the car last March with 14k miles; still had the original Goodyear Eagle run flats on it. Needless to say, these tires being 11 years old were DANGEROUS!!! Rubber was age hardened and the handling was scary... easy to oversteer on sharp throttle inputs.

I bought the Generals because of the many positive reviews and I'm VERY pleased with these tires... the Vette handles SO differently now... these stick like glue and the turn in and grip in corners inspire WAY MORE confidence than with the old Goodyear run flats...

Also the treadwear so far is negligible with 8000 hard driven miles with a few burnouts for good measure !!!

I highly recommend these tires for your Corvette if you're looking for a reasonably priced high performance option.

...Treadwear has been great so far also...

Took a chance on this tire due to reviews. So far I have been totally impressed. My car has loads of low end torque being a twin turbo car. These tires grip so well I rarely can break them loose when accelerating even with over 450ft/lbs or torque on hand. I've had more expensive tires on other vehicles before and so far these tires are as good if not better than some I've paid $300ea for. They are quiet, handle rain well, and are predictable in the corners even in my 2 ton car. Would totally buy them again. Treadwear has been great so far also. You won't be disappointed in these.
