The Assurance MaxLife is Goodyear's Standard Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sedans, minivans, crossovers, and coupes looking for a tire to help conserve fuel, prolong tread life and provide all-season traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even light snow.
The symmetric pattern of Assurance MaxLife tires features a continuous center rib for constant rubber-to-road contact and solid on-center feel. The intermediate ribs of the Assurance MaxLife feature Goodyear's Wear Gauge, which provides a visual indication of the tire's remaining tread depth, allowing drivers to continually monitor their tires' condition, instead of simply providing a warning at the end of their life. Notched intermediate ribs and semi-closed shoulders help the Assurance MaxLife track straight on the highway, while providing block edges for grip in wet conditions and, along with the deep circumferential grooves, a path to evacuate water from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning. The all-season compound and multiple sipes help provide confident all-season traction in inclement weather.
The internal construction of the Assurance MaxLife consists of two steel belts supported by a single-ply, polyester casing. A one-ply, polyamide reinforcement aids handling response and delivers high-speed capability.

Breaking Down Tire Performance Categories - 2024 Special Test With Winter Update (26:05)
We understand that tire performance categories can be confusing. You want an all-season tire, but there are several all-season categories; how do you know which one is right for you? You want a summer tire, but again, which summer category? In this special demonstration, we took six all-season tires from three all-season categories and three summer tires from two summer categories to lay it out for you. Category-leading tires from the Standard Touring All-Season, Grand Touring All-Season, Ultra High Performance All-Season, Max Performance Summer, and Extreme Performance Summer categories are tested so you can see exactly what each "step up" gets you as a driver and what trade-offs were made along the way.
Customer feedback data reveals strong performance for the General Grabber A/TX in its intended off-road all-terrain role. Dry traction earns consistent 9-10 scores, with users praising confident grip on rugged terrain. Wet traction also shines, with hydroplaning resistance frequently rated 9-10. Winter capabilities impress, with deep snow traction often scoring 9-10 and ice handling mostly 7-9. Ride comfort receives mostly 8-10 ratings, though a few note firmer feedback on paved roads. Treadwear scores 8-10 align with expectations for rugged tires, with multiple users reporting durable performance across mixed surfaces. Noise levels trend favorably for an all-terrain tire, typically landing in the 7-9 range during highway use.

...I've not once hydroplaned going 50+ through large puddles, and the grip is excellent. I have a lot of confidence in them and prefer to use the rig with these vs my daily if it's raining out...
Tires look and feel excellent. I have very few miles on them so I am unsure of their longevity or tread wear. I recently replaced the majority of front end components and got a fresh alignment so only time will tell. Overall, they feel good on the road, are responsive to steering input, and have excellent traction on and off-road.

Through many years of driving on / off road, I have purchased many brands / types of tires. BF. Goodrich, Maxi Track, Firestone, Yokohama , Mickey Thompson's. I find these General Grabbers ATX to be the best overall tires I have ever purchased for all around use. Very good in Mud, Snow, Rain. Very little road noise, and the tread wear is excellent, and the price of these tires are very reasonable. I have 24,000 miles on them with my FJ Cruiser and they still have over 50% of tread left. I will most certainly be purchasing these tires again.

Drove my truck up bald eagle state forest, the road was solid ice and deep snow in the ditches. I passed several stuck Subarus. Im blown away by the grip I had on the ice going up hill. Seriously I had to stop and get out of my truck to pee and I slipped on the road, almost pissed my self, my tires never slipped the whole 3 mile drive over the Mountain. Mind you o was not speeding, just doing 5-7mph in 4H on the upward side. When going downhill I dropped her in 4L and just coasted down the mountain. I 100% trust my life to these tires in ice conditions. As for mud... bring a winch. I got stuck on a slighty muddy hill. Handle great on pavement wet or dry.

The General Grabber A/TX delivers strong winter traction, with most snow and deep snow scores in the 8-10 range. Ice traction shows solid performance (many 7-10 ratings), though some variability exists. Off-road drivers praise its capability in rugged winter conditions.

Bought these tires for winter and had them studded. Work Incredibly well on snow and ice. Drive to Kirkwood during monitory chain and snow tire control, had Absolutely no problem keeping traction. Tried gunning it hard and slamming on the breaks to see they’re reaction. They maintained traction very well, No slide no fish tail. Also used them for off-roading to reach ghost towns across Nevada and California. INCREDIBLE traction on rocks and muddy areas. Used be die hard BF KO2 fan. These tires blow them out of the water, in performance and price.

My area just got 8 inches of snow. These tires performed extremely well. In 4 wheel drive these tires had no issues getting traction in deep snow and packed snow. I went out driving while it was snowing and pulled 3 people out of ditches. General has a life time has me as a lifetime customer as long as their tires perform this well. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

...Great dry and wet stopping, response, and stability and best noise reduction of amp you tire ever yet on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara TJ...
I bought these tires due to reviews on Tirerack. The reviews were spot-on! Great dry and wet stopping, response, and stability and best noise reduction of amp you tire ever yet on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara TJ. Love these tires after skidding and putting up with road noise using other tires for 2 decades. They are Highly recommended!

This is my second time purchasing this tire. It has very good reliability. For a somewhat aggressive tire it is relatively quiet. Handling is very good. I rated the Wet Traction at a 7 because they will break lose very easily when starting from a stop if you have a powerful vehicle. I have never had a problem with hydroplaning. Traction in the snow is very good given the circumstance. Dry traction is also very good. All in all I give this tire a rating of 9 out of 10. I have purched again and recommended them to friends.

...All the combined Hwy and city road are very comfortable, quiet and well mannered for an off road capable tire...
I live in San Diego, CA these tires are great. Though it hasn't rained yet I look forward to their rated ability in the wet. Otherwise, I can't ask more from the tires. I've taken them to Anza Borrego Desert park and done the medium tails, no issues at all. All the combined Hwy and city road are very comfortable, quiet and well mannered for an off road capable tire. I'll have to write more once it rains as that was the one main reason beside off road capability I purchased these tires. I had some trouble with the original Firestone installer who I had the tires shipped to. I loaded up my tires and contacted Tire Rack who located me another close Firestone installer, the same day, who couldn't have been nicer and actually installed the tires for a bit less than the original installation quote. So glad I purchased these tires from Tire Rack and they stood behind their installation, thanks Tire Rack!

Tires ride smooth and quiet for an A/T. Definitely a step up from the Last tires I had in the noise department. Only drawback I’ve seen is they’re hard to get balanced correctly, recommend going to a place that does road force balance, once I did that they’re awesome. They look great and so far I haven’t noticed any unusual tread wear: they performed great in the iowa snow and so far this spring in all the rain we’ve had they’ve done equally as well. Would recommend any day.

Treadwear receives excellent 9-10 scores from most customers, highlighting long-lasting performance in rugged off-road conditions. A few 7-8 ratings exist, but overall satisfaction emphasizes durability for all-terrain use.

...After 20k+ miles, I feel I made a great choice... use a five tire rotation every 6K miles and they still look like new... I do expect to get better than 50K miles out of them!
Bought my stock 2017 Jeep Wrangler 2 door in December of 2020 with 14K miles and the original tires (Goodyear Wranglers). Wanted something rated with the 3 peak snow rating and all terrain chops. After a lot of research, I selected the General Grabber A/TX. A little bit better price point than other competitors and great reviews on tread wear. After 20k+ miles, I feel I made a great choice. Quiet for an all terrain tire, use a five tire rotation every 6K miles and they still look like new, great snow traction and smooth ride. Haven't done much off roading yet (will do more after I retire) but on gravel Iowa farm roads with the consistency of uncle Joes pudding when wet, they have worked fine. Three days ago I had Rancho RS5000 shocks installed and the ride is better yet. I am surprised that a lot of Chevy Truck owners are getting poor tread wear according to the reviews I have been reading but I highly recommend these tires for Jeep owners. I do expect to get better than 50K miles out of them!

...The tread wear is uniform and slow. I think these will last a good number of years and I will get another set once they're toast.
Great Tires for a midsize truck. As first there was looseness and play in the steering. Once the tires settled in I felt the truck was planted and responsive. Fantastic in snow and dry roads! Wet roads felt fine, no slipping on acceleration or high speed turns. One tire will loose air over a few weeks time if not driven, I may need to have it remounted... And one tire came new with white rubbed off or missing on the lettering. Not a deal breaker but I like the look of the white lettering on the outside. The tread wear is uniform and slow. I think these will last a good number of years and I will get another set once they're toast.

...The tires are at 48,150 and still have plenty of tread to get me through the summer. I will replace them - likely with same - when Oct/Nov hits and weather becomes an issue again...
I replaced the OEM tires on my 2018 F-150 Platinum because they couldn't handle light snow without sliding all over and stopping in snow was poor. The General Grabbers were the #1 rated ATV tire when I bought them in Nov-2019 and they have been nothing but solid on dry, wet, snow, mud...never an issue. The tires are at 48,150 and still have plenty of tread to get me through the summer. I will replace them - likely with same - when Oct/Nov hits and weather becomes an issue again. The only downside issue I noticed was losing about 2 mpg compared to the OEM tires but that's not a problem compared to the benefits.
