The iON evo AS is Hankook's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of electric vehicles (EVs), sedans, and coupes looking for an adaptable mix of dry and wet traction with confident wintry weather traction for four season performance.
Utilizing a tread compound specifically developed for use with the heavy weight of EVs, the iON evo AS takes advantage of an optimized curing process and pressure distribution for more even contact with the road. The naturally quiet operation of EV motors requires a dedication to noise management at every step. Rigorous adjustment of the tread pattern's pitch count and variation in conjunction with knurling patterns carved into the grooves to minimize sound are all ultimately aided by a sound-deadening layer of foam for a low-volume experience. 3D GripKontrol sipes have been strategically applied to aid the four longitudinal grooves in resisting hydroplaning in the wet, and, if weather demands, offer additional biting edges for reliable snow traction.
The iON evo AS's internal construction features a polyester body ply with a high turn-up for enhanced sidewall stiffness and durability that can handle additional vehicle weight in lateral maneuvers for smooth control. Twin steel belts ensure a stable base for the tread package joined with a polyamide reinforcement for predictable handling and high-speed performance.

Are EV-Specific Tires Better than Popular Non-EV Tires? – 2024 Test 1 – With Winter Update(29:49)
The EV tire space has a lot of hype and anticipation, but what’s the substance? What do you get by choosing a tire marketed as an EV product? What do you give up? In this round, we have Touring, Performance, All-Season, and Summer tires – in both EV-focused and non-EV-focused applications – making it our most complete test to date, including our 2024 winter test results!
Customer surveys indicate the Goodyear Assurance MaxLife excels in treadwear, with many ratings in the 9-10 range, showing minimal rapid wear concerns. Comfort receives strong praise for smooth ride quality and low noise levels. Winter traction is highly rated in snow and slush, though ice traction shows occasional lower scores (3-7 range) in some feedback. Wet performance is consistently strong, with excellent hydroplaning resistance and grip. Dry traction earns near-perfect scores, with drivers highlighting responsive handling and stability. While a few note ice performance as less confident, the tire delivers reliable all-season capability, aligning well with its touring design for everyday driving.

Great smooth and relatively quiet tires with good wet and snow traction...
Great smooth and relatively quiet tires with good wet and snow traction. They are not as quiet as the OEM Bridgestone but they’re not as expensive either.

I highly recommend these tires, They are great in the rain and have lasted 75,000 miles, I will need to replace them sometime soon but they did last the 80,000 miles.

...We just finished a very wet winter season in LA and they have performed perfect in the wet...
I installed these for freeway driving 120 miles a day in my Clarity. One year and 30,000 miles later, I could not be happier. Very quiet in an electric car is a must, and they deliver. They have worn from 11/32" to 7/32" which means they will last about 70,000 miles for me. We just finished a very wet winter season in LA and they have performed perfect in the wet. So glad I purchased these.

So far they have exceeded my expectation in every way. I thought the tires were going to be hard as a rock to the the crazy mileage warranty, but they are awesome even in harsh Ontario winter conditions. Wet and ice traction are really good, the deep snow not so much. We live a bit out of town and the roads don't always get plowed, so have got stuck in snow. As soon as we hit the highway, tires gripped nicely and ran smooth.

...On snow, they aren't as great as an actual snow tire, but they are better than average for an all season... These have gotten me through slick spots up hills that other vehicles, (including other AWD's and 4x4's) weren't able to get over...
No issues at all! The Continental tires that were OE on my Ford Escape were noisier, had less traction (in all conditions), and didn't have as nice of a ride as the Goodyear Assurance Maxlifes do! I drive a mix of city and highway, and also do a few road trips per year in various conditions. I've driven on gravel, snow, rain, ice, and anything else that was in the way. The Goodyears are excellent in all conditions, and handle nicely while still offering a quieter, smooth ride.
On snow, they aren't as great as an actual snow tire, but they are better than average for an all season. I've never had them hydroplane or make me feel unstable in wet conditions. Of course, use common sense when driving in bad weather, but no issues for me. Cornering and handling are great. No screeching or traction loss in corners or sharp curves. I tend to be a little spirited sometimes, so I do notice when a tire has an issue gripping around corners. They also do well with braking in both dry and wet. These have gotten me through slick spots up hills that other vehicles, (including other AWD's and 4x4's) weren't able to get over.
If you have an Escape Titanium with the 19's, get these. So much better than the OE Continentals in all conditions. Even if you don't have the same vehicle, get them. Great all-around tire!

...Living in the Northeast, winter traction is a big concern but these did very well in both light and deep snow the first two winters. The past winter (3rd), however, was a bit on the touchy side...
I did my research before purchasing these and for the first 30,000 was mostly pleased. Traction, noise levels and handling were all an improvement over the factory Michelin Primacy MXM4 so I had high hopes. Living in the Northeast, winter traction is a big concern but these did very well in both light and deep snow the first two winters. The past winter (3rd), however, was a bit on the touchy side. This spring and current summer I'm now experiencing issues with wet roads as well. Over 50mph, moderately wet roads are starting to upset the car with the rear getting a bit loose occasionally and yes, alignment is within spec. Braking, ride and dry handling have been fine throughout, although 3-4 rebalances have been required. The biggest issues have been treadwear and noise. At 43,000 miles my 85k tires are down to about 4/32 so there is no way possible these will see another 40k of service. In all fairness, the factory tires only made it about 30k of their 55k lifespan so apparently these new Accords are hard on rubber. That being said, I would not feel safe trying to make another winter, so they are being replaced. The other big issue is noise. They started quiet but have gotten progressively worse to the point that I it sounds like I'm running big rig super singles. People actually look when I'm driving because of the noise. Like I said, first 30k was great, last 13k it's like a different tire. These might be great for another application, but don't seem to be right for mine. I spoke with a fantastic customer service representative from Tire Rack about my warranty and she was able to help. I will be replacing these with a set of Vredestein Quatrac Pro. Hopefully they will suit me better.

...These tires handle extremely well on the highway, city and back roads in all conditions...
Goodyear's Assurance MaxLife is an excellent tire overall. Actually, the best tires I've had in the past 10+ years, and that's spanning a dozen+ different vehicles. Unfortunately, I only had the pleasure to put around 2,000 miles on them before my Cherokee was totaled. I would not consider these tires for off road use, but then again they are not designed for that. These tires handle extremely well on the highway, city and back roads in all conditions (I can not comment on deep snow or tire wear due to the short duration I had them). Goodyear considers the Assurance MaxLife a Standard Touring All-Season tire, but I believe it should be in a premium level category such as with the Grand Touring All-Season tires. I highly recommend. I'm currently buying another set for a Kia Soul, and soon to be Buick Enclave.

Very comfortable ride which was my first objective along with long life...
Very comfortable ride which was my first objective along with long life. Tire has more tread depth than most other tires. Like the design as this influences the quietness of the tire. At 72 years old I have had Michelin, Pirelli, and other top of the line tires. Currently this tire may be the best. Kudos to Goodyear for making an excellent tire.
San Diego does not have Winter conditions so could not rate that factor. Will provide information about wet /rain conditions in a few months. Treadwear will be rated after 20,000 miles but expect very good results.

...They replaced the oem tires at 38,000 miles and now have over 113,000 miles on our Pilot and the tires are between 5/32 and 4/32... This is the first set of tires we've had that have actually meet the manufacturer's claim of 80,000 miles.
The tires have worn evenly with rotations every 10,000 miles and have performed exceptionally well. They replaced the oem tires at 38,000 miles and now have over 113,000 miles on our Pilot and the tires are between 5/32 and 4/32 They are a tad noisy on cement roads, but is understandable with this type of high mileage tire. Excellent tire for someone wanting a high mileage tire. This is the first set of tires we’ve had that have actually meet the manufacturer’s claim of 80,000 miles.
