The Assurance WeatherReady2 is Goodyear's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of compact cars, passenger sedans, and crossover SUVs looking for the smooth and quiet ride of a premium touring tire combined with the year-round confidence that comes from driving a vehicle equipped with all-weather tires, having met industry severe snow service requirements and qualifying for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Assurance WeatherReady2 callouts

Assurance WeatherReady2 tires feature a soybean oil derived compound molded into a directional tread pattern designed to maintain traction in all weather conditions. In addition, taking advantage of small, regular variations in tread block size, the Assurance WeatherReady 2 uses multi-pitch sequencing to dissipate road sounds and comfort inserts in the sidewall to smooth out uneven road surfaces for a comfortable ride. Goodyear's AquaTred technology comes alive in heavy rain, with V-shaped grooves expelling water and slush, enhancing both wet weather handling and wintertime snow traction. The soybean oil compound ensures the tire remains grippy and flexible when the temperature drops.

The Assurance WeatherReady2's internals make use of two layers of polyester plies surrounded by twin steel belts for the right blend of strength, rigidity and straight-line tracking. A polyamide cap completes the package, providing additional stability at highway speeds.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Customers Say

Ratings highlight excellence across all key categories for this Grand Touring All-Season tire. Comfort stands out with a smooth, quiet ride praised by most, though a few note slightly firmer feedback. Treadwear earns strong praise for long-lasting performance, with only occasional mentions of quicker-than-expected wear. Winter traction receives consistent 9-10 scores, showing reliable grip in snow and ice. Wet performance shines with top marks for hydroplaning resistance and confident handling in heavy rain. Dry traction maintains the tire's premium reputation, delivering responsive steering and stability at higher speeds. While most scores cluster in the 9-10 range, a small subset of 7-8 ratings suggests minor variability in tread life expectations among users.

...Resistance to hydroplane and tracking in standing water are superior to all other tires I've driven on...

In the Pacific NW driving environment these tires are a standout. I was concerned that the new fairly aggressive V tread pattern would be noisy but the are as quiet as the OEM Continentals that we replaced. Resistance to hydroplane and tracking in standing water are superior to all other tires I've driven on. The winter tire "Mountain" capability means I can engage the 4 Wheel drive and travel with confidence in snow. A fine tire so far and had great rebates that made it a bargain compared to the closest competitor. Great job Goodyear and Tire Rack!

Excellent traction and dry and wet so far. Great comfort. Only downside is they are very noisy. Likely would not buy again. Would get something a little more quiet

...But I tried a couple of panic stops in a rainstorm and was impressed by how hard I could brake before finally activating the anti-lock braking system. Same thing for acceleration from a stop before activating traction control in the same rainstorm.

We've only put about 1,000 miles on the tires in the month since they were installed and we haven't had any deep snow so far. But I tried a couple of "panic stops" in a rainstorm and was impressed by how hard I could brake before finally activating the anti-lock braking system. Same thing for acceleration from a stop before activating traction control in the same rainstorm. And, while not a match for the true winter tires I use on my other car, I did some impromptu testing on a side road and was also impressed at how much additional acceleration and braking the tires provided in light snow and pack ice compared to the OEM "all-seasons" that were previously on the car.

I have noticed that, at lower speeds, the tires produce a slight whine with a pitch that rises and falls with speed, much like a muted version of winter tires. But it's not nearly as loud as true winter tires and it isn't noticeable at all at highway speeds.

This may be dependent on my specific vehicle, but I also immediately noticed while driving home from the installation that, on the highway, the vehicle seemed to feel more planted than on its previous OEM tires. My wife commented later that she noticed the same thing. The vehicle just seems more stable and, "stuck to the road," at highway speeds. And, prior to changing the tires, I never thought that the vehicle previously felt unstable or bad in any way. It just feels even better than before with these tires.

The only reason I said, "Probably," to the question asking if I'd buy them again is that... who knows what might be available by the next time I need to buy tires for this vehicle? But if the choices are the same, I'd buy these again. I'd recommend these tires to a friend -- in the unlikely scenario that a friend would ever actually ask me, "What tires should I buy?" Who am I supposed to be? Consumer Reports?

Not a lot of miles on the new WeatherReady2 tires, but on our 3rd set of the original version of WeatherReady tires for my wifes outback and they have been EXCELLELT year round tires for her - working extremely well in snowy conditions. bought the weatherReady2 tires as my winter tires for my 2025 pilot and 2 weeks ago after 20 inches of snow in denver, with 6 trips from golden to Denver Airport and 1 trip from Golden to Glenwood Springs and back, tires were awesome in the dry to snowy/slushy conditions - so far, I love them!

...These tires are as sure footed in the snow and on ice as the Cross Climate 2's on our Highlander, and perhaps even slightly better on ice. The grip that these offer when the roads get icy is as good as it gets (save for dedicated winter tires)...

I was originally going to purchase the Cross Climate 2’s as I already have those on two of my vehicles, but figured I’d give these Goodyear’s a shot. So far I have not been disappointed! There’s a slight hit to your MPG’s, but the benefit of the all weather rating more than makes up for that. These tires are as sure footed in the snow and on ice as the Cross Climate 2’s on our Highlander, and perhaps even slightly better on ice. The grip that these offer when the roads get icy is as good as it gets (save for dedicated winter tires). I used to recommend the Cross Climate 2’s to everyone who asked, but I may have a different recommendation based on what I’ve seen so far. We haven’t had more than an inch or two of snow yet in Wisconsin, but I know I won’t be worried when the first major storm hits with these tires.

The general ride quality is good as well. It seems to be getting quieter as the miles go on. The tires still look brand new with the first 1000 miles on them. With the tread life warranty, I doubt I’ll notice much of a difference for the next several thousand miles.

...I tend to push my cars in a very spirited manner, and these tires perform beyond expectations. Wet and dry road traction has been excellent and I have not felt any loss of traction in either condition...

Replaced the OEM Yokohama tires on my new Outback after only 3000 miles. They were beyond useless on roads with ANY snow on them.
I saw these new Goodyear Weather Ready 2 tires on the tire site, read up on all reviews online, and decided to purchase a set.
Tires were delivered the next day, and installed by a local shop. The same day, we had about 2 inches of snow, and these tires were
excellent in it. They gripped well, with no issues stopping or starting.
I tend to push my cars in a very spirited manner, and these tires perform beyond expectations. Wet and dry road traction has been excellent and
I have not felt any loss of traction in either condition.
Tires give 100% better feedback of road traction than the OEM tires, and are very quiet on all surfaces so far.
To make things even better, there was a total of a $300 rebate on the tires AND a 60 day satisfaction policy.
I would recommend these tires and Tire Rack as a well rounded tire and a great company to deal with.

...In dry weather, really exceptional cornering at speed driving from Wildcat down to Bartlett...

Great tire and really glad I switched over when I did as I was able to experience winter conditions before we switched seasons to spring. In the snow, had some around the town driving in 6 inches of snow and it handled quite well, on one right turn it get a tad bit loose, but otherwise it tracked well in both the plowed section and also fresh tracks. Breaking was good, I didn't force it kick in the anti-locking, and everything responded correctly. In snow, took it out at speed driving from Gorham to Wildcat in New Hampshire and it tracked very well and very responsive, the s-turns up top were crisp and no slip. In dry weather, really exceptional cornering at speed driving from Wildcat down to Bartlett. In windy weather, the tire feels a bit drifty, but honestly I just think I have driven into many strong cross drafts. In wet weather, really excels, at highway speed for long stretch of rain and ponded highways, the car was very confident. I have these tires for Spring through Fall and really impressed how it handles the rain and also cornering at speed. No change in gas mileage. I could probably leave them on through the winter, but I like dedicated winters for looping from RI to NH for ski season!

So far, I would say I am very impressed. I think Goodyear hit a homerun with this tire. I was a little worried about the tread design and road noise, but they are quiet and smooth riding. I am an aggressive driver and while this is not a performance all season, they have handled well on winding twisty roads. I drove to Chicago in a rainstorm and stayed at 70 mph with no issues. We had a mild winter and only drove in light snow but there were no issued. We will see what happens next winter.

Ride comfort is excellent including very low noise. Steering response is predictable and no squirming or drift. Easy to keep in the driving lane at highway speeds. Wet handling and braking have been uneventful. Behaves nicely just like on dry surfaces. I have had little experience with snow/ice as of yet but briefly did recently and was very satisfied with the feel and composure while driving through some.

Previously I had two sets of Goodyear WeatherReady tires. I was pretty happy with them. They had very good wear resistance and traction in all weather conditions. The only downside was noise at high speeds. Now I decided to give a shot to their next generation WeatherReady 2. I've driven them for 8K miles, so far. Excellent, predictable control and traction in dry, rainy and light snow weather conditions. Very acceptable noise level at highway speeds . Definitely better than OEM tires on my Tesla Model Y. So far I had no chance to drive them in deep snow, but tread pattern seems to be right for deep snow as well. I hope they will not disappoint me.
