The Wrangler HP is Goodyear's Street/Sport Truck All-Season light truck tire developed for Original Equipment use on sporty pickups and sport utility vehicles like the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Avalanche, Dodge Ram, Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and Land Rover Discovery 4.6 HSE. The Wrangler HP was developed to blend on-road performance handling with year-round all-season traction, even in light snow.
The Wrangler HP features a symmetric tread design with wide outer shoulders and large intermediate blocks to provide responsive handling and traction on dry roads. Wide circumferential and lateral tread grooves help evacuate water from under the tire's footprint to resist hydroplaning while strategically placed sipes enhance all-weather grip. The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts (H-speed rated sizes reinforced with nylon cap plies) that stabilize the tread area to boost handling and high-speed capability. Depending upon application, the Wrangler HP features a polyester cord body to provide appropriate strength and enhance ride quality.

Customer feedback indicates the Goodyear Wrangler HP delivers excellent dry traction (9-10 scores) with responsive handling, making it a strong choice for street and sport truck use. Wet traction shows mixed results, with some reports of hydroplaning and inconsistent grip (scores as low as 0-4). Winter performance raises concerns, with many ratings below 5 for snow and ice traction. Ride comfort receives mixed feedback, ranging from smooth to harsh depending on driving conditions. Treadwear is a notable weakness, with frequent mentions of rapid wear and disappointing tread life (multiple 0-3 scores), suggesting limited longevity for aggressive or heavy-use scenarios.

...On a dry highway they are very responsive and saved me from a sure death when an old guy entered the Xway up an off ramp, headon...
These are great tires for a place where it does not rain. I live in Louisiana, so that lets me out. I admit I drive too fast in the rain, but I think these things look for a chance to hydroplane. On a dry highway they are very responsive and saved me from a sure death when an old guy entered the Xway up an off ramp, headon. They are reasonably quiet and comfortable. I have ordered a set of Bridgestone Revos from TireRack to replace them, and I am going a little wider on the tread.

...they were stock on my 4wd Ram with 20s but have awesome traction in dry, wet, and even snow...
this is a great tire if you want cheap all weather performance. they were stock on my 4wd Ram with 20s but have awesome traction in dry, wet, and even snow. we had 8 inches of snow fall last week and they did a great job. i was worried about how such a wide tire would do in the rain and snow, but i have had zero problems in any weather condition. they ride a bit rough but that is to expected in a short wheel base 4wd truck with 20s i guess. i put 400 pounds of sand bags in the back for the snow and it rides a lot better now. they work too well not to buy again, so far tread life is really great. this truck has the best wear patterns ive ever seen for such a large tire. i would put these on any large truck with confidence. not to mention they are 1/2 the price of anything else out there for 20 inch rims.

20 inch 60s handle great on dry. I put the winding roads to the test with the Quad Cab 1500 Ram Hemi Wet highway is good, but tail of truck tends to drift on take offs. 15 inches of snow was no problem in 4wd, but 2wd spin hints at poorer traction in deep slush. Overall, a sensible, all season tire for highway driving.

Mixed results with many scores between 0-6. Customers report slippery feel, tendency to hydroplane, and mediocre wet traction-unacceptable for an all-season tire.

...no wet weather traction at all. Once the pavement is damp, all traction is lost. I actually had the rear end snap out from under me the other day while going around a gentle curve at 30mph...
Unfortunately, these tires came equipped on my Ram. Without a doubt this is the worst tire ever made. Absolutely no wet weather traction at all. Once the pavement is damp, all traction is lost. I actually had the rear end snap out from under me the other day while going around a gentle curve at 30mph. Thankfully, there was no one in the opposing lane, cause I would have creamed them. Goodyear and Chrysler are setting themselves up for a lawsuit when someone finally dies as a direct result of these tires. Also, these things won't stay balanced. I had to have it rebalanced right after delivery, around 6000 miles, and now at 13000 miles they're out of balance again.

...Where this Goodyear really fails the driver is in the rain. Wet weather performance, in every respect, is weak...
This tire reinforces the notion that with most vehicles, OE tires are a mere afterthought. It does nothing well, whether its wear, noise, traction, cornering or stability. Where this Goodyear really fails the driver is in the rain. Wet weather performance, in every respect, is weak. Dont settle for these. You can do better.

...Dry traction is acceptable, but wet traction is terrible... The ram has more power than the Ford so it is even more noticable how poor the wet traction is...
I have this tire on my ram from the factory. It is a poor tire. Dry traction is acceptable, but wet traction is terrible. It is a quiet tire but don't expect more than 40k out of it, max. I also had these tires on a 2006 F-150, same size as ram 275/60/20, on custom wheels and they were just as bad. I didn't realize how bad they were until I put the factory hankooks back on the F-150 to realize what I was missing. The ram has more power than the Ford so it is even more noticable how poor the wet traction is. I have had this tire in all weather conditions on both trucks and am not impressed with them. I would not buy this tire again, and am disappointed that I was forced on them by Dodge with my new truck.

Winter traction receives concerning scores, with many ratings between 0-4 and inconsistent 5-7s. Despite being an all-season tire, customers report slippery conditions, loss of traction, and unstable handling in snow and ice, indicating significant winter performance shortcomings.

...It does ok in the snow, but not great. It is driveable, at least with 4WD...
This tire is absolute junk. I would not recommend it to anyone. It is a waste of money. It was OEM on my Jeep. It ----s in the rain. It ----s in light mud, it just doesnt want traction. Its not like I had it off road for real, I am talking dirt parking. It does ok in the snow, but not great. It is driveable, at least with 4WD. It is great on dry pavement, but that is about it. However, it is rather loud, especially as it wears.
Dont buy this tire. There are better tires out there.

...unsafe at any speed in any weather, especially in rain...
Let me start off by stating that I am an ASE Mater Tech. and a Honda Master Tech. with over 12 years experience, all starting with the tire industry. I rotate and balance every 3000 miles, do a 4 wheel alignment once a year, and check cold tire pressure twice a month, and these tires went bald at 30,000 miles. Completely unsafe at any speed in any weather, especially rain. I wouldn't use or recommend these tires to anyone, even if you won a free lifetime supply.

...The ride was very uncomfortable. The jeep banged on road bumps. On larger bumps it banged so much I thought something would break.
When I bought my jeep I chose 17" mags and they came with wrangler HP tires. From december to march the weather was around 14 F to -32 F. The ride was very uncomfortable. The jeep banged on 1" road bumps. On larger bumps it banged so much I thought something would break. Every time there were bumps Id cringe. Other drivers had the 16" regular rims and tires and had no complaints. As summer tires though they handle well, corner very well and have good braking adherence. I will have to buy 16" rims and tire just for winter driving. And by the way, I discovered that the mags that came with the jeep have an incredible bug. If I lower the rear windows the spokes produce some sort of air compression so that above 45 m.p.h the noise hurts the ear drums enough to have to close the windows. Its deafening

...After 13,000 Miles I am shopping for new tires since there is not enough tread to go through another New England winter. More than 50% of the tread is gone and we will be lucky to get 20,000 miles out of them...
We purchased our 2005 Landrover LR3 after driving our 1999 Discovery II for three years and it came with Wrangler HP tires on it. After 13,000 Miles I am shopping for new tires since there is not enough tread to go through another New England winter. More than 50% of the tread is gone and we will be lucky to get 20,000 miles out of them. I went to the dealer with this problem and he said we were one of the lucky ones to get that many miles out of them. I have had trouble with goodyear tires not lasting before on various vehicles (corvette, Ford F150 and Mitsubishi Eclipse) I will not ever purchase a set of goodyears as replacements!!! Unluckily I am sure I will have to replace one or two in the future. I would not recommend these tires to anyone.

...By 19k milestread on front 2 tires had completely separated and were undrivable...
Tires came oem on my 05 ram. Rotated tires at 7500 mile service. At 15k service technician noted tires need rotating and had them rotated again. After service started to notice "wop" while driving which increased steadily. By 19k miles tread on front 2 tires had completely seperated and were undrivable. Took them to local goodyear dealer expecting warranty claim. Dealer said since tread wasn't worn evenly there was no claim. These tires are absolute junk. You get from them what they say "one goodyear".
