The Wrangler SR-A is Goodyear's Highway All-Season tire developed for the drivers of pickup trucks, crossovers and sport utility vehicles. Extensively used as Original Equipment on a wide range of popular light trucks, the Wrangler SR-A is available in a comprehensive range of 15" through 20" rim diameter sizes. The Wrangler SR-A is designed to reduce noise, vibration and ride harshness while providing all-season traction, even on gravel roads and in light snow.

The Wrangler SR-A features Goodyear's WetTrac Technology that molds an enhanced wet traction tread compound into a symmetric tread design which combines independent tread blocks, wide circumferential grooves and hundreds of zigzag sipes to promote traction in wet and wintry conditions. The wide circumferential grooves help move water through the tread for wet traction while self-cleaning lateral grooves in the shoulders help evacuate water, mud and snow.

The tire's internal structure includes twin, high-tensile steel belts on top of a polyester cord casing. Heavy-duty LT-metric-sized Load Range D & Load Range E tires are reinforced with spirally wound nylon to promote strength, even wear and extra durability.

Customers Say

Drivers find the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A delivers strong tread life with many reporting long-lasting performance, though some note rapid wear in certain conditions. Ride comfort and noise levels are highlights, with smooth handling and quiet operation praised. Winter traction struggles, particularly on ice and deep snow, with scores reflecting limited confidence. Wet traction shows mixed results, with some drivers experiencing hydroplaning concerns. Dry traction stands out as a key strength, earning high marks for confident grip and responsive handling, aligning well with its highway all-season focus. Overall, it excels in dry conditions and comfort but faces challenges in winter and wet scenarios.

...Rain traction was expected and dry traction is expected as well...

Summary:
Overall a good summer and dry highway tire. Super questionable when it came to winter driving. and reduced confidence when road was wet. Forced me to be extra cautious when conditions weren't perfect.

Detailed:
Michigan Winters and these tires do not mix. These came stock on my 2017 RAM 1500
I am an experienced Michigan driver, and former truck driver with over 500,000 miles under my belt. With these tire in the summer i have no issue. Rain traction was expected and dry traction is expected as well. However where i have the beef with these is if there is the slightest of snow on the ground these tire become almost useless. Driving in winter made me not feel confident with these tires, and even driving extra cautiously, ended up in a ditch to avoid rear ending some idiot that stopped in the middle of the road with obviously a better set of tires that i had.

Pulling a 5500 lb trailer, these tires would often slip loose during wet conditions under acceleration. One time sliding the truck sideways almost into a barrier while pulling my camper. Again, i have vast experience pulling trailers and driving and these tires reduced my confidence in the contact with the road and forced me to be even more cautious then i normally would.

...Dry traction, ride comfort, and off-road use these tires were great...

After a full cycle of this tire I felt compelled to write a review on it to help others making tire buying decisions. I had these tires all over the place - on road and off road in a variety of conditions, so I feel as though I have 'put them through their paces'.

First the positive - Dry traction, ride comfort, and off-road use these tires were great. While not the best for off roading they certainly held their own. Tread seemed to last the expected time or maybe even slightly better than expected.

Now the negative - Wet traction on these tires was horrible. They would spin on acceleration, felt unstable in corners while wet, and seemed to hydroplane very easily. This lead me to a different brand when I went to replace them, and after driving through some we conditions I can definitely say it was these tires causing the traction issues.

While they were fine for OEM tires, I would stay away from this brand while replacing tires. There are better options out there for the price.

...Excellent steering response, ride and handling. Smooth and quiet - part of the credit goes to the truck with it's coil springs in the rear. Good characteristics have remained through the 33,000 miles.

Good tires. They deserve a fair review. OE on new 2017 Ram 1500 4WD. Alignment and balance spot on. Size 275/60-20 always inflated to 39 psi cold as recommended.

Dry/Highway: Excellent steering response, ride and handling. Smooth and quiet - part of the credit goes to the truck with it's coil springs in the rear. Good characteristics have remained through the 33,000 miles. Rotated twice so far and very even wear.

Wear : At 33K, they are about 60% worn. Compared with my last tires on my Tundra 4WD, Michelin LTX, they are wearing quite a bit faster.

Wet: When these tires were new, they were excellent in the rain. I had the occasion to drive back home from the Adirondacks in a torrential rain last year with about 15K on the tires. They were excellent and in my opinion just as good as the last set of Michelins. However, now with about 60% wear, they are still good in light rain but will hydroplane in standing water/extremely heavy rain. As expected with significant tread wear.

Snow: Again, when they were new and up to about 25K they were. decent in the snow for an all weather tire. Now with significant tread wear, they are still OK in light. snow but poor in heavy wet snow/slush. Again, as expected as tread wear has advanced. I will replace them next fall with about 45-50K on them for winter driving.

Towing: I tow a 6000 lb. car hauler all over the North East and these tires are very good. Even with the truck heavily loaded and the Mustang on the car hauler, these tires are very sure footed and stable. I am sure the truck/trailer combination is near or even at the gross combined load rating and these tires are excellent. Inflated to 39 psi cold. 100% happy with these tires for this purpose. The steering, handling and ride makes long haul towing easy.

Bottom line a good tire and for the money, a great tire. When I go to replace them, Michelin's will cost $300 more - a tough call for a Michelin fan.

...I can say that they ride great, are quiet and seem to be holding up fairly well...

Nice tires. Some of the questions aren't particularly applicable ("cornering stability?"), it's a pickup, not a Porsche. I can say that they ride great, are quiet and seem to be holding up fairly well. I just hit 20K miles and estimate I'll get maybe 50K total out of them. Haven't done any mudding but they are excellent in snow. They do fine driving across a fairly soft field. Maybe not a serious 4-wheeling tire but very competent for year-round highway and occasional off road use.

...QUIET SMOOTH...

TIRES CAME WITH NEW TRUCK 2015. DROVE TO FLORIDA FROM CONNECTICUT. (DEAD SUMMER) ALL THE WAY DOWN TO KEY WEST. TIRES WERE BRAND NEW. DROVE SECOND TIME 2017. GREAT RIDE QUIET SMOOTH. NOW 44,000 MILES ON THEM (2019). WILL GET NEW TIRES SOMETIMES THIS YEAR. I DEFINITIVELY WILL NOT BUY TIRES RATED ANY LOWER THAN THESE. (NOW EVERY PICK UP TRUCK OWNER KNOWS THAT A EMPTY PAYLOAD IN THE BACK OF TRUCK OF EQUALS NO TRACTION ON WET ROADS. I THINK I,M PRETTY ACCURATE ON THAT STATEMENT. MY TIRES ON THE TRUCK NOW. FRONTS STILL HAVE 1/2 OF THE TREAD LEFT. BACKS NOT. I HAVE ROTATED THE TIRES AT LEST 3 TO 4 TIMES ON OIL CHANGES. BASICALLY NO PROBLEM WITH THESE TIRES. NOW DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVISE IF THERE IS A BETTER TIRE THAN THAT AS I WOULD LIKE TO TRY ANOTHER BRAND.

These tires have to be the best I have ever owned, they have lasted 85,000 miles. I pull at 21 foot boat with my truck (4X4 F-150) in the summer and drive through 3 inches of snow quite often in the winter. These tires are for the guy who wants a great all-round road tire. These tire are very quiet on the highway, bite well in light/med snow and at the boat ramp, disperses water well on wet roads, fuel mileage is good, and the tread life is excellent. I would not recommend these tires to a farmer, on site construction worker or the guy who wants to go off roading. These tires are for the city trucks. You can't beat these tire on asphalt, come rain, heat, sleet or snow! They stick!

...At about 42000 miles it was time to replace the tires and I replaced them with SR-As. Now at 83500 miles the time is coming to replace them again very soon. I probably have a few 1000 miles left on them but not much more...

My Ram 1500 came new with 275/60R20 Goodyear SR-A tires. At about 42000 miles it was time to replace the tires and I replaced them with SR-As. Now at 83500 miles the time is coming to replace them again very soon. I probably have a few 1000 miles left on them but not much more. I've read the reviews and they don't seem to score very well. But my experience is very different. I pull a 6500 pound camper about 3000 miles per year and frequently haul a very full and heavy load of mulch or compost. Hydroplaning resistance, dry and wet road traction handling and braking traction has been very good for most of the tires life. I certainly will agree that my nearly worn out tires dont have very much hydroplaning resistance and on wet roads the traction leaves something to be desired, but then my tires are very near the wear indicators. No doubt the traction in the snow will be bad this winter, but remember my tires are nearly worn out. Tread noise and ride comfort and handling has always been very good and is still pretty good. Although I wouldnt want to do it now with nearly worn out tires, I've pulled the camper through snow, ice, heavy rain and high winds with no problems. My only complaint is I wish they lasted longer, but then they arent a very expensive tire, so my opinion is 43000 miles out of a fairly inexpensive tire is a good value. No doubt whatever I replace them with will perform better than worn out SR-As at least when the new tires are still new. But that does not mean the SR-As are not a good tire, only that worn out SR-As aren't that good. But then does anyone make a tire that still does everything well when the tread is as thin as the hair on my nearly bald head? Thats why I'm replacing them very soon and I may very well go back to SR-As. I'd give them an A+.

This tire came on my 2015 GMC and is terrifying in the rain and light snow. I know I do not have the ability to accelerate without spinning and cannot slow down without skidding in inclement weather. Be cautious if you plan on purchasing this tire. I have 37k on mine and probably enough tread for another 12k but I cannot take another winter with them on my truck.

As with most reviewers, these came OEM on my truck. They were fine at first but with just 20K miles on them and plenty of tread left (more than 50-60%) these are terrible in anything but dry roads. Lots of spinning in the wet and or even light snow. --- help you if you need to panic break. The tread pattern looks like it should work well, it just doesn't. Maybe it's an issue with the compound. On the plus side these are smooth and quiet on the highway. These tires would be fine if you do most of your driving in dry warm states like Arizona or Nevada. If you have to deal with any kind of wet, cold weather on a regular basis, especially if you have a RWD only truck, pass on these. It's sad that I own a 4WD truck and my go-to vehicle for bad weather is my FWD GTI with snow tires.
