Highway All-Season tires are for drivers who want a combination of pleasant on-road characteristics, long wear and all-season versatility, including traction in light snow. Highway All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on 2WD and 4WD, light- and medium-duty vans, trucks and pickups, as well as crossover and sport utility vehicles.
O.E. Highway All-Season tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Ratings show mixed results for the Goodyear Wrangler ST. Concerns about rapid tread wear and inconsistent tread life are common, with some reports of shorter-than-expected longevity. Ride comfort receives mixed feedback, with some noting adequate smoothness while others mention noticeable road noise. Winter traction proves challenging, with many drivers experiencing poor performance in snow and icy conditions. Wet traction struggles significantly, with low scores in hydroplaning resistance and wet grip. While dry handling shows occasional competence with decent cornering stability, scores in this category vary widely, suggesting inconsistent performance for a highway all-season tire.

...Wet road traction is nonexistent, directly resulting in an accident that reqired major front end repair, and some close friends with the same model vehicle and tires had the same experience, both accidents at speeds below 40 mph on wet level roads. Even at 35 mph with ABS on a level wet road, these tires slid like roller skates and were unable to stop my vehicle in 5 car lengths and t-boned a vehicle which had pulled out in front of me. These tires act as if theyre riding on slick glass on a wet road...
I have a 05 Liberty CRD diesel. These tires would be better suited to passenger car service than trying to deal with the weight (4300 lbs) and low end engine torque of a diesel SUV. While treadwear, ride comfort, and noise level are adequate on dry pavement long distance interstate driving, in nearly all other ways Ive found them wanting. Wet road traction is nonexistent, directly resulting in an accident that reqired major front end repair, and some close friends with the same model vehicle and tires had the same experience, both accidents at speeds below 40 mph on wet level roads. Even at 35 mph with ABS on a level wet road, these tires slid like roller skates and were unable to stop my vehicle in 5 car lengths and t-boned a vehicle which had pulled out in front of me. These tires act as if theyre riding on slick glass on a wet road. The torque of the diesel engine will often break these tires loose even on dry pavement, especially with an upgraded torque converter and aftermarket ECM tune, in particular when making a right turn accelerating out into traffic. Cornering on winding secondary roads is dicey, vehicle often feeling as if its on the verge of tipping over, unless I significantly decelerate before entering a curve (often below the posted limit). Unless your vehicle is equipped with electronic traction control, stability control, and ABS, I would definitely not recommend these tires on a larger vehicle and/or in bad weather situations. In summary, these tires would do well for fair weather light duty passenger car service, but are way out of their league for light truck/SUV duty in bad conditions. Even with what looks to be the majority of their tread life still ahead of them at 25K miles, I will be replacing them prior to the onset of winter weather and/or another long trip.

...Unfortunately, I was shocked and dismayed my first time out in the rain to find I had no traction on the wet roads while not in 4wd: hydroplaning in highway puddles, slipping on neighborhood roads at low speeds, and having serious difficulty re-accelerating (in forward or reverse) from stopped position on hill without dragging my tail end. I now must drive in 4wd whenever it rains for safety...
I purchased my 2004 Libert Sport 2 months ago with 40K miles on the engine. Im not sure how long the Goodyear STs were on the vehicle but appeared (and still do) to have much tread life left - they look almost new. Unfortunately, I was shocked and dismayed my first time out in the rain to find I had no traction on the wet roads while not in 4wd: hydroplaning in highway puddles, slipping on neighborhood roads at low speeds, and having serious difficulty re-accelerating (in forward or reverse) from stopped position on hill without dragging my tail end.
I now must drive in 4wd whenever it rains for safety. I may very well change these tires even with good tread left before the first snow fall - just for piece of mind. I definitely do not recommend this tire - at least for the Jeep Liberty.

...Poor traction then accelerating, braking, and cornering on wet snow and ice forget about it...
Bought these tires because they came with the truck brand new.they were rotated and balanced and properly inflated when needed. The tires ride good. One tire bounces badly at 40mph or so and is scalloped. The tires squeal loudly when corning at low speeds on good dry roads. Poor traction then accelerating, braking, and cornering on wet snow and ice forget about it. Going to replace with Uniroyal Laredo AWR tires. Wrangler ST tires are two thumbs down.

Winter traction draws concerning scores between 0-5, with customers reporting slippery conditions, getting stuck, and lack of snow/ice grip. While some rate 7-10, most indicate unacceptable performance for an all-season tire.

I picked up a 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo a few weeks ago, and the dealer had put a new set of the Wrangler STs on. I have to say, through the recent snowstorms weve had here in Denver, I have been extremely UNimpressed with this tire. The rear tires constantly spin in slick/snowy conditions, and I must ALWAYS been in 4WD to get any type of traction. I feel slippage and hear the tires squeal if I take any corner with a decent amount of speed, which really reduces my confidence level in the tire.
I just sold my 1996 Explorer which I had used with BFGoodrich TA/KOs for the last 3 years, and even with 2-3" of snow on the ground, I rarely had to use 4WD. Im immediately selling these Wranglers and going back to the BFG.
STAY AWAY from the Wrangler ST if you do any driving in snow/ice, or ever go off-road. These tires are just atrocious. But if you live in a very dry place where you are only on roads - they should be just fine. And I will admit - they provide a VERY quiet ride when driving on pavement.

Original equipment on Jeep Liberty. They were OK for the first Northern Pennsylvania winter. After 12000 miles wet traction became a serious problem, snow traction was non existent. They were rotated every 6000 miles. At 29000 miles they are worn out and will not pass state inspection. I should have replaced them long ago due to the traction and safety issue. I am shopping for tires now and am not sold on Goodyear, certainly not this particular tire.

Dry traction shows concerning inconsistency with numerous scores between 4-6, reflecting poor grip and responsiveness. Despite some 7-8 ratings, the Wrangler ST's performance in its intended category leaves many customers dissatisfied.

These tires in my opinion are dangerous in wet weather and sloppy in cornering. I am sure that the style of vehicle does not help and that these tires were a happy medium. Well they should of designed a tire to match this vehicle. I will be looking at new options and these tires will not be anywhere near my vehicle anymore.

Poor choice for an OEM tire. Virtually no wet traction and they frequestly loose their grip on dry pavement. As theyve worn they have become very noisy. Not recommended.

Treadwear shows mixed results with many scoring 0-4, citing rapid wear and disappointed in tread life. While some report 9s and 10s, frequent mentions of premature wear and needing early replacement raise concerns for a highway all-season tire.

...These tires are crap that GM put on my 4x4 Chevy and they are worthless... I have driven all my highway miles in a real easy manner and still only got 29,500 before they were almost at the treadwear bars all around...
Like the guy down a few posts wrote: saddle up cowboy your ride is here, well, you better be used to riding bareback cause this tire will be bare long before it should! These tires are crap that GM put on my 4x4 Chevy and they are worthless,no traction in wet grass, wet roads,or anywhere else I take my truck.May be alright for granny to ride on to church and the grocery store once a week but not anyone else.I dont stomp on it or spin my tires anymore,I have driven all my highway miles in a real easy manner and still only got 29,500 before they were almost at the treadwear bars all around.Just put some new Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts on yesterday, sure look good on her and hope they last longer than the Goodyear junk that came on it.Wish new vehicle mfgs.would put more aggresive tires on new 4 wheel drives instead of street tires that wear out in less than 30k miles.Avoid this tire, your life may depend on it!

...I have not even made it to the wear indicator and am having to replace them. I listed myself as a spirited driver but even for the average driver these are not good tires to have...
These tires were stock on my truck when I got them. I have not even made it to the wear indicator and am having to replace them. I listed myself as a spirited driver but even for the average driver these are not good tires to have. I have a large V8 in my truck and that might be part of the cause but I can not get traction to save my life. Dry traction results in alot of squealing especially while on take off around corners. Wet traction is vertualy non exsistant. I drive carefully during rainy conditions due to the increasing inability of other drivers in my reagion ability to drive declining and still am all over the place. Hills are terrible if it is wet out. Traction off road is also terrible. While off road I have had nothing but spinning on all 4 tires. I am origionaly from Illinois and am extreamly comfortable with icy and snowy conditions but with these tires I wont even make the drive to visit during winter months for fear of my life. Not quite sure how these tires can get a good rating but the deffinently do not and should not be used on a truck. The only good thing I can say about them is the noise level is very low until you try to turn into a parking spot or make a right hand turn up a hill from a light. Would not recomend these tires to anyone. I have just ordered new General Grabber AT2s and am looking forward to them. Excelent pricing even with shipping costs.

...38,000 miles and the tires have 4/32 front, 6/32 back...
Goodyear should be ashamed of themselves. This tire is dangerous in wet weather. 38,000 miles and the tires hace 4/32 front, 6/32 back. Can feel rumbling on highway, hydroplanes very easily and without warning, from around 60mh on highway. If your buying a new car and it has these tires on it, have the dealer switch them to anything else. Will be buying Firestone Destination LEs now.
