The Road Venture MT71 is Kumho's Off-Road Maximum Traction tire built for the drivers of pickup trucks, full-size SUVs, Jeeps and other capable all-terrain vehicles looking to conquer tough off-road conditions while retaining on-road competence and highway stability.
Kumho utilizes an advanced Tri-Blended tread compound optimized for durability and long tread life while providing enhanced grip on pavement and in loose terrain conditions. The proprietary polymer mix is engineered to endure the severe conditions encountered while hauling heavy payloads and provide cut-and-chip resistance in extreme off-road landscapes. The high-void, zig-zag dual-pitch tread design helps ensure maximum loose surface traction and employs mud and stone ejectors molded in between blocks that help prevent damage from stone drilling and aid self-cleaning of packed debris. The tire's aggressive shoulder and sidewall design features robust biting edges that help provide powerful off-axis traction and increased sidewall protection. Stiffened tread elements continue to enhance off-road performance while also retaining a consistent contact patch for predictable handling on-road.
The Road Venture MT71's traction capabilities are further complemented by a rugged construction utilizing three plies of high-strength polyester and two Super-Tensile steel belts derived from commercial tire applications. Two high-denier nylon protection plies in the cap and bead area reinforce integral areas of the tire while helping provide structural integrity.
While Off-Road Maximum Traction tires, which are often called mud tires, are branded with the M+S symbol and able to churn through deep snow, their typical oversize applications and the absence of snow-biting sipes in their large, smooth lugs can challenge their on-road wintertime traction on packed snow and icy surfaces.

...Wet traction of my previous tires was the worst ever. These tires have plenty of traction and reasonable hydroplane resistance...
I’m very sensitive to the responsiveness of steering inputs from my tires. These work great and yet I have removed the harshness of my previous tires. Wet traction of my previous tires was the worst ever. These tires have plenty of traction and reasonable hydroplane resistance. They may have been the lowest price tire available and I would buy them again. We’ll see whether they last 20,000 miles or 30,000 miles but I would still purchase them again

...The biggest improvement is wet traction, with the full time AWD and these tires my confidence in rain equals dry traction. Long high speed turns in rainstorms no problem, standing water on the highway no problem, emergency braking in rain no problem. its a very dangerous confidence because of the wet grip levels...
i have 1000 miles on the truck so far and no complaints whatsoever. I must admit that some of my great praise for these particular tires has a lot to do with the truck itself, its a 2005 Yukon Denali xl with 62000 miles and brand new auto ride shocks and compressor. With that being said, on to the review. First I went with 275/60 17 on the factory 17 inch Denali wheels for a bit more size and grip than the 265/70 17 factory tires, handling is much improved due to the slightly shorter sidewall, grip is improved and braking is improved. The biggest improvement is wet traction, with the full time AWD and these tires my confidence in rain equals dry traction. Long high speed turns in rainstorms no problem, standing water on the highway no problem, emergency braking in rain no problem. its a very dangerous confidence because of the wet grip levels. Dry traction is excellent and there has not been any snow yet in NYC as of this writing but i have experienced some black ice and again no problems. the combination is so good that i dont think ill put my summer rims and tires (2009 Cadillac Escalade 22 inch and 285/45 22 Bridgstone Dueler) back on.

...When it does rain, these tires have responded to the challenge like a pro...
Very happy with these tires. The tire is excellent in terms of comfort, noise and handling. The tread has held up in the brutal Arizona desert heat. When it does rain, these tires have responded to the challenge like a pro. More than satisfied with this tire and how it has performed, and will likely put them on our Yukon XL as well.

...even on really bad weather like hurricane season, I use the Mdx for though jobs and this tired haven't failed on muddy road, wet and heavy rain or cruising the highway on our way to the east cost of Rincon.
Been using these tires since 2014 on my road warrior Mdx 2nd gen and coulbe heppier with the performance, treat wear and comfort…a little noisy due to the size for this heavy suv but they stand the road without issues. In Puerto Rico we have not the beet road as mainland and these Hankook Ventus manage the road without issues…even on really bad weather like hurricane season, I use the Mdx for though jobs and this tired haven’t failed on muddy road, wet and heavy rain or cruising the highway on our way to the east cost of Rincon.

...And these tires finally completed that sporty look and feel and I couldn't be happier... If you are a spirited driver and want your truck/suv to handle like a sports car these are the tires for you.
I have a 2wd 2008 Ford F-150. I am much more than just a "spirited" driver. I had the Pirelli Scorpion STR's On the truck prior to the hankooks. I always struggled with traction/handling in wet and dry conditions. I have lowered my truck and done suspension work as well as some engine modifications adding more power. And these tires finally completed that "sporty" look and feel and I couldn't be happier. I will absolutely be purchasing another set when that time comes. If you are a "spirited" driver and want your truck/suv to handle like a sports car these are the tires for you.

...As far as dry traction is concerned, there is no comparison. On nearly any road surface these tires will squeal like a pig if you press the throttle too far starting up (I don't drive with the traction and stability control engaged due to the poor throttle response and the unpredictable nature of the system). The Goodyear tires would never squeal no matter how hard you drove them.
I bought these tires for the rear wheels because they had 11/32" tread depth (vs 10/32" or less for other tires) and the tread pattern thinking it would emulate the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 I had on my '02 Camaro SS. Although these tires have fairly good wet traction, they don't match the Goodyear tires (which aren't available for the '10 Camaro). As far as dry traction is concerned, there is no comparison. On nearly any road surface these tires will squeal like a pig if you press the throttle too far starting up (I don't drive with the traction and stability control engaged due to the poor throttle response and the unpredictable nature of the system). The Goodyear tires would never squeal no matter how hard you drove them. Just goes to show you can't expect a tire with a 420 tread wear rating to be as grippy as one with a 280 rating (what was I thinking). As far as that tread wear rating is concerned, the tire life doesn't seem to be much better than the D3's ( already used up 45% of the tread after only 3700 miles...yes I have a heavy foot in stop and go city traffic). Bottom line I guess is you just can't compare a $140 tire to one costing $300. Lesson learned.

Excellent service from Tire Rack, delivered quickly , rebate processed smoothly. Great price,
Less than 400 miles on tires. So far they provide a comfortable ride with little to no road noise from tires. Truck handles well with these tires. Haven’t noticed “flat” spots after sitting for a few days.
So far I’d say they’re great tires at an excellent price, time will tell.

I think I finally have discovered how smooth and comfortable this SUV can be with these tires. Balanced up they are smooth, quiet, and comfortable...
I had 64,000 miles on my VW Toureg TDI when I put these Hankook tires on. I purchased the car new with Goodyear Eagle GT2 tires lasting 23K miles and were horrible. Second set was a Pirelli Scorpion Verde plus that lasted 40K and were far not that great for what they cost. I think I finally have discovered how smooth and comfortable this SUV can be with these tires. Balanced up they are smooth, quiet, and comfortable. No snow traction testing yet but it does not happen consistently in Nebraska as 95% of the time driving is on dry pavement so it does not concern me in the least. Incidentally, I only have 6000 miles on the tires but they have let me discover how great this vehicle really is. So far to new to rate tread wear but none so far. I am hoping to get 40-50K out of them with proper rotation and balancing. If I can get anywhere near that then this tire will be the one and only choice for this vehicle. Thanks Hankook for designing such a great SUV tire.

...Our first observation was how noisy the vehicle is - because the tires are so quiet we can now hear everything else!...
Just had these mounted in South Bend then jumped on the toll road for a 250 mile drive home. Our first observation was how noisy the vehicle is - because the tires are so quiet we can now hear everything else! Great grip even before break-in and the grip was tremendous going around those toll road cloverleafs once the tires warmed up. Sidewall was perfect - not too harsh but no roll. It's obviously very early, but we are quite happy so far, especially for the price!

...It seems to check all the boxes for the type of vehicle I drive... and great and even tire wear (still have 5-6/32 tread life left)...
This is the fourth set of tires I have purchased on two different F150's over the last 12 years. All have been the same size; 305/45/22, which seems to be the best combination of visual appeal and performance for my tastes. While the Parada Spec-X and the Goodyear Fortera were good tires this is the first one that I actually want to buy again. It seems to check all the boxes for the type of vehicle I drive, good handling (on a truck), good in wet conditions, very quiet and smooth for a tire this size, even at 42,000 miles (although the Parada Spec-X may slighlty edge it here), and great and even tire wear (still have 5-6/32 tread life left). Not to mention it's a good looking tire. I will definitely be buying another set in about 5-8000 miles.

...After 30,000 plus miles, they still have more than 50 percent tread...
These tires have been great from the moment I had them installed. After 30,000 plus miles, they still have more than 50 percent tread. Wet road traction has diminished a bit since new, but is still very good; this is normal with performance tires in my experience. That said though, I can still corner with confidence on dry roads without braking. I'm not sure why they are only rated as summer tires because they got me through two winters and handled the snow much better than the seasons I replaced. They're still fairly quiet up to this point and also impressive is at how well these tires have stayed in balance. This will absolutely be on the top of my list when it's time for new tires.
