The Solus TA51a is Kumho's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of compact cars, passenger sedans, crossovers and SUVs looking for a reliable daily driver joined with a luxuriously quiet experience. Targeting dependable performance in wet and dry conditions, the Solus TA51a aims to deliver Kumho's combination of ride comfort, low noise and all-season traction, even in light snow.

Kumho Solus TA51a

Solus TA51a tires feature a high-grip silica compound molded into an asymmetric tread pattern designed to maintain traction in all weather conditions. Technological advances, such as the noise-canceling ribs integrated directly into the tire's grooves dissipate road sounds. 3-Dimensional chamfered edges of the tread blocks take advantage of the tire's natural deformation under load to maximize tread contact. Quad circumferential grooves help expel water to resist hydroplaning, while high 3-D sipe density enhances both wet weather handling and wintertime snow traction.

The internal construction of the Kumho Solus TA51a consists of a 2-ply polyester body casing for additional protection and ride quality. This foundation supports a layer of twin steel belts for satisfying handling and stability topped by two nylon cap plies granting the reinforcement needed to maintain uniformity and high-speed performance.

These Kumho tires excel in that and haven't had any issues in dry or wet conditions!...

These tires are great and definitely an upgrade from the Laufenn tires I had before in which were “sportier” and were supposed to be great on dry conditions. These Kumho tires excel in that and haven’t had any issues in dry or wet conditions! The only thing that I can negatively say about them is that the steering feel is very light and while it handles bumps and different pavement well, you can definitely “feel” what you are going over through your foot and steering wheel. Nonetheless, I say for the price these are great all season touring tires and have great performance in comfortability and reliability. Would 100% purchase again I would say these are above average for sure.

...I've found this to be true, and I've also been pleasantly surprised by how well they perform on both dry and wet pavement... their performance in heavy rain leads me to expect at least adequate performance in light snow as well.

I bought these tires because I'd read that they were a quiet and comfortable tire at a reasonable price. I've found this to be true, and I've also been pleasantly surprised by how well they perform on both dry and wet pavement. I have yet to experience them in winter, but their performance in heavy rain leads me to expect at least adequate performance in light snow as well.

...What was unexpected was decent traction in snow...

Kei trucks are not performance vehicles by any stretch, however these tires turned the truck from a golf-cart into a go-cart. Of course any good tire would have been an improvement over the stock truck tires. I've had (different model) Kumhos on my BMW Z3 and loved them so was optimistic on how they would do on a vehicle on the other end of the spectrum. I was impressed with the smooth ride and great cornering (for a mini-truck) on dry payment. What was unexpected was decent traction in snow. This was true for the Subaru Sambar that they were on before the Daihatsu.

...These tires deliver on all of these factors, in addition they are surprisingly good in light snow and rough ice...

This size of tire reduces choices in the US to just a few tires. I tried these as the manufacturer is reputable and the cost was reasonable, also the focus on quiet ride and a smooth ride were high priorities. These tires deliver on all of these factors, in addition they are surprisingly good in light snow and rough ice. I do switch to dedicated winter tires for the 1/2 year that we have such conditions, but I got to try these in winter conditions before the changeover.

...When roads are dry the traction is good and the steering is responsive without pushing it through the corners.

Feels like a more expensive tire, really quiet.
I never push the car hard on wet conditions but it feels in control at speeds under 55 mph on the hwy
or 20-30 on city streets.
When roads are dry the traction is good and the steering is responsive without pushing it through the corners.

These are the best tires that I have used in a long, long time! I am continually reminded that they are so quiet and smooth riding. yet grip well and seem to be wearing very well also.I routinely drive on country roads as well as interstate highways and in town. When I need tires again, I will definitely buy these. Very pleased with them.
