The Solus TA71 is Kumho's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for sporty coupes and luxury performance sedans and the people who love to drive them. Designed to combine responsive handling with quiet comfort, Solus TA71 tires deliver all-weather traction, even in light snow.

Solus TA71 tires feature Kumho's advanced nano silica compound that is engineered to disperse heat for extended treadlife and traction in cold temperatures. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design to create a contact area that promotes grip and steering response in any weather. Four wide grooves evacuate water to promote wet traction and resist hydroplaning while precisely angled snow sipes create tiny gripping edges that are fine-tuned for traction on cold, slick surfaces.

Kumho's ESCOT Casing Technology optimizes sidewall cord tension distribution to promote steering response and treadlife. The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon to enhance high-speed stability. Use of jointless bead bundles help isolate bumps and vibration for a smoother, quieter ride.

Customers Say

User feedback reveals the Kumho Solus TA71 delivers strong dry traction (8-10 ratings) and responsive handling, paired with reliable wet grip (7-9 ratings) and hydroplaning resistance. Comfort receives mixed praise, with many noting a smooth ride but some reporting road noise inconsistencies. Treadwear scores (0-5 ratings) highlight significant concerns about longevity, a critical weakness for an all-season tire. Winter traction shows mixed results, with adequate snow performance (5-7 ratings) but frequent struggles on ice (3-5 ratings). While customers appreciate its confident dry and wet performance, tread durability and inconsistent winter capabilities temper overall satisfaction.

...They provide a smooth, quiet, comfortable ride as well as excellent traction on wet roads...

I just had these tires installed a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy with them so far. They provide a smooth, quiet, comfortable ride as well as excellent traction on wet roads. They cost a little more than the OEM tires, but so far they seem to be worth it. As an Uber driver, I have to keep keep an eye on operating costs, so I'm hoping they last longer than the OEM tires also. They also have a higher load rating than the OEM tires, providing extra peace of mind when my vehicle is loaded with passengers and their luggage. If these tires have a long life and continue to perform this well, I won't hesitate to buy them again.

...Regarding the handling, they don't turn-in quite as quick as I'd hope, but once in the turn they grip very well on dry. Feedback from the road is also very good...

I only have 100 miles or so on these tires, but wanted to post my initial impressions for anyone on the fence. I wanted a set of all seasons that offered a smooth ride and were quiet....all while being responsive enough for a sports sedan. So far the tires are very quiet and run very smoothly. Regarding the handling, they don't turn-in quite as quick as I'd hope, but once in the turn they seem to grip very well on dry. Feedback from the road is also very good. Haven't had any chance yet in the rain, but I'm guessing they'll do just fine. Overall I'm very pleased them, but time will tell how they act with mileage. First time purchasing this brand, so a bit of a gamble, but the price was right considering the current rebate offer.

...The traction on dry pavement has been great...

I picked up a set of 4 of these Kumho's based on the reviews I read here. I was in desperate need of tires for my car as the Bridgestone tires that were on the car when I bought it were shot, they were extremely loud and stiff. The deal on these tires was really good and it got even better with a rebate from Kumho.
Once I had the tires installed I almost couldn't believe I was driving the same car, the tires were so quiet I just couldn't get over how different the car felt on the road.
The tires have been on my car now for about 2,500 miles and I am very pleased so far. I drive a decent amount of highway miles via the turnpike and the Kumho Solus have not disappointed me. They are very quiet, even at high speed and they are responsive in handling. The traction on dry pavement has been great and the performance in rain (sometimes heavy downpours) has been a pleasant surprise. I've been on the highway in some very heavy rain and I have not had any issues with traction or handling.
Today was the first chance I've had to try the tires in the snow and I was not disappointed. The car was responsive in handling and traction, as good as you can expect in bad conditions. I was not driving at normal speeds due to the conditions but I also felt like I was in full control of the car without worrying about traction.
I'm impressed with these tires at this point, I hope they continue to perform well and I can get some mileage out of them. I like them so much I may pick them up for my other Infiniti.

...I don't drive hard, so they may not be as good as the summer tires at the track, but for me, they handle similar to the summer tires...

The stock summer only tires 18" tires that came with my Ford Focus wore out in 21K miles. The stock tires receive high marks at Tirerack other than mileage and snow/wet traction. Using the stock summer tires (which cost about $250/each) as comparison, the Kumho tires are barely worn after 21K miles. They seem to handle just as good and are a little softer than the stock. I don't drive hard, so they may not be as good as the summer tires at the track, but for me, they handle similar to the summer tires. They are clearly superior in snow, and I believe better in rain. I'm pleased with the purchase price and the performance of these tires.

I bought these tires because the price was right and they came with a good rebate incentive. The good about them is that so far for an inexpensive Tire they hold to the road fairly well in wet or dry conditions. The ride Comfort level is also quite good considering. The noise from these tires, however, is the worst I have ever heard from any level of quality set of tires. The old tires on my dad's 78 Chevy pickup are much quieter than these brand new ones on my Kia Optima. The noise level alone is what would make me never order these tires again.

...This winter, in the lightest of snow, I have been unable to get out of my driveway because I have NO traction. I had to back into my dry garage and get a running start to get through 3 inches of snow up a slight incline...ridiculous...

I bought these tires in September 2016. They have less then 15,000 miles on them, they were rotated twice and they have unacceptable and excessive treadware. This winter, in the lightest of snow , I have been unable to get out of my driveway because I have NO traction. I had to back into my dry garage and get a running start to get through 3 inches of snow up a slight incline....ridiculous.
So, less then 2 years and <20,000 miles I have to replace them. I read the other reviews before I purchased these and am now totally confused by their comments "Good in the snow." "Long treadlife." What a waste of money.

I am a professional auto technician of 15 years and own a small used car lot. I bought these tires last year for my girlfriends car. She does not drive the car hard at all. She drives 70% highway and 30% city. I had to replace two tires already at only 10,000 miles and the other two are half tred. They are also absolutely terriable in the snow.

Tires were replaced under warranty at 19K miles (and 21 months) due to extreme treadwear - given that these were 60K tires, it is shocking that they were down to 1/32 and 2/32. While these tires seemed to be decent from a performance perspective while they still contained acceptable tread, their durability was so abysmal that I will likely not buy Kumhos again...

Will the Kumho Solus TA71 Move to the Head of This Grand Touring All-Season Class? - Winter Update (02:31)

Remember the guy in high school who seemed to be good at everything? Grand Touring All-Season Tires are expected to be that guy. But tires from this category are not specialized enough to be the best in any one subject. So to be a success, they need to at least stand out across the board (including in winter's snow, slush and ice).

Is one of the four tires in this test the perfect fit?
