The Discoverer Rugged Trek is Cooper's Rugged All-Terrain tire built for the drivers of pickup trucks, crossovers and full-size SUVs looking for a tire with a capable off-road appearance and performance which also maintains a smooth, comfortable ride on streets and highways. By carefully combining powerful off-road features with on-road design attributes, the Discoverer Rugged Trek is engineered as an aggressively stylized all-terrain tire with a performance emphasis on dry, wet and wintry conditions, including light snow.
The Discoverer Rugged Trek utilizes a durable all-season tread compound molded into a bold, symmetric tread pattern designed to wear evenly with longer tread life than many traditional off-road centric tires. Cooper's Stable Trac Technology built into the inboard tread blocks help provide clear road stability and control with omni-directional, micro gauge siping engineered to enhance grip on pavement and rough surfaces. Whisper Grooves molded between the center and outboard tread elements help dampen airborne noise from the pattern for increased on-road comfort. The deep, high-void tread pattern helps increase hydroplaning resistance while outer block sipes enhance slippery road grip and control. Aggressive Stone Blockades built into the edges of the tread grooves expel lodged rocks to protect against damaging stone drilling. Earth Diggers molded into each shoulder help propel through loose surfaces for traction in difficult all-terrain environments and snow.
The internal construction of the Discoverer Rugged Trek features a robust two-ply casing supporting twin high strength steel belts which focuses on blending durability with comfort. A single-ply nylon reinforcement is also added for high speed control and stability.
Select Discoverer Rugged Trek tires are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol to identify they meet the industry's severe snow service standards and if so, will be noted in the tire's Details & Pricing section. The absence of the "Severe Snow Service Rated" text indicates that size is not 3PMSF-branded.
Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek tires allow drivers to personalize their vehicles by offering dual sidewall designs on every tire. One side features a "Knife-Edge" styling with straighter lined shoulder elements, while the other side's "Mountain Pass" design includes jagged elements reminiscent of rugged mountain peaks. All tires feature both designs, allowing drivers to choose their look based on which is mounted outward on the wheel.

Twelve selections from the On-Road, Off-Road, and Rugged All-Terrain categories comprise this All-Terrain tire test to see how they stack up when it comes to daily driving. A/T tires excel off the beaten path, but what about the rest of the time? The popular aesthetics of this category lead to many using them on their daily drivers. So, what are you sacrificing by choosing these products for your concrete journeys? Noise, comfort, handling, safety, and winter performance are all considered when we test all-terrain off-road tires on the road!
Customer feedback data reveals strong performance in dry traction (scores 9-10) with consistent praise for responsive handling and cornering stability. Wet traction receives high marks (8-10), including reliable hydroplaning resistance. Winter traction shows robust capability in snow (7-10), though ice traction scores vary (0-10), with some users noting reduced confidence on icy surfaces. Ride comfort and noise levels are generally rated positively (7-10), described as smooth for all-terrain use. Treadwear scores (7-10) highlight durability, aligning well with on-road and light off-road demands. ...Tires performed very well on a wet road both city and highway. Going about 35-40mph on corners there was no issues...
Purchase was delivered the next day. Thanks Tire Rack. This morning around 4am in about 29 degree weather I drove from the city to a small town on a two lane highway up in Eastern WA. Tires performed very well on a wet road both city and highway. Going about 35-40mph on corners there was no issues. When driving on a partially snowed highway in a wooded area the tires performed well considering I never went into 4-High or 4-Low. My speed in the area was from 30-40mph. I did slide when braking hard going up to a stop sign going about 35mph. I slid about 3 ft. I was seeing if the traction would catch and I did before coming to the stop sign. Never drove in the mud yet. Overall I am happy with the tires and would recommend. Hope this helps.

Great budget tire. Ice and snow traction is very impressive which is the reason why I purchased this tire over the others. Stayed in 2wd the entire time during ice/snow. Very satisfied with my purchase and would definitely buy again. Tire looks aggressive and visually pleasing.

...We had a snow storm 3 days ago here over 1 foot of snow. I drive 36 miles to work many areas un touched by plows. This truck didnt slip once, i dod have it in 4 high the entire time but no concerns of me slipping and i was very confident with these tires...
I have had these tires on my Tacoma for about 2 years since i purchased this truck with 115k miles. It has currently 132k miles n these tires are still very nice tread left easily another 15k out of em, (i live in north east pa so i dont wear my tires to the steal belt and then replace em).
We had a snow storm 3 days ago here over 1 foot of snow. I drive 36 miles to work many areas un touched by plows. This truck didnt slip once, i dod have it in 4 high the entire time but no concerns of me slipping and i was very confident with these tires. Last 2 years not much snow around here so this is the first real test for me with these and with it being 15k on the tires I have no doubt these tires are even better when their newer.
The only issue i have with my truck (idk if any tires will make it better) is certain areas at intersections that get the slushy, gross mix of overything with the deep gire tracks in them is a little harder to stop in than everything else. So u have to know ur tires and vehicle if u do n dont drive like an idiot you will go everywhere u need to go just fine.
I took this truck because i love driving in the snow and drove it the next day down and untouched offroad trail, which is more less (not real offroading or nothin) but a dirt road mixed with larger rocks than ud find a town dirt road, this thing went perfectly. I truly believe these tires do bettwr in deep snow than they do in a 1/2 in. The excell the deeper the snow gets no joke.
Just an fyi id never in my life consider buying these tires (they came on the used truck i bought 2 years ago) but i will 100 percent these tires with an identical set no joke.
Ive always been a huge proprietor of name brand tires and get the best u can afford. These tires are the best a/t tires ive ever used.
My gf has a 2020 tacoma with Firestone destinations brand new, that it came with, n my 130k beat up taco out performed the s out of it in this storm, for sure.

I had these tires and a new set of wheels installed on my wife's vehicle a little over a week ago. Talk about great timing. Two days after they were installed our area experienced a minor blizzard. So my wife got the opportunity to test out these tires in 12 inches of powdery snow. Her 35 mile drive home was fairly smooth and uneventful. She said the tires performed very well. Part of her drive had been slightly plowed and part of her drive hadn't been plowed or even traveled by another driver yet. She made it home without incident. I will definitely consider purchasing these tires again.

...I've been doing a lot of dry highway driving lately, and steering, cornering, and wear are excellent...
Much quieter on the highway than I expected given the aggressive tread. I've been doing a lot of dry highway driving lately, and steering, cornering, and wear are excellent.
I haven't done much off road 4-wheel driving in the year I've had these tires, but have had no issues with traction when I did.
Overall, this is a great tire. I won't hesitate to purchase them again.

...The grip on road is very impressive, when doing hard braking where my ABS would usually kick in with my previous Goodyear Fortera HL they just keep gripping, I have not been able to get the ABS to kick in yet despite some pretty hard braking...
Have only tried this tire on road and gravel/dirt roads. The grip on road is very impressive, when doing hard braking where my ABS would usually kick in with my previous Goodyear Fortera HL they just keep gripping, I have not been able to get the ABS to kick in yet despite some pretty hard braking. I have also been towing my 8000 lbs travel trailer with these tires, including pulling it up a fairly steep dirt road with very fine loose dirt, the tires slipped a bit but considering that these are not offroad tires at all I was impressed and at no time did I feel like I was about to lose traction or wouldn't be able to make it (full disclaimer I do have a locking center diff which obviously helps with the wheel slipping). I'm obviously not planning on using them in the winter and I live in a very dry climate so I have not had much chance to experience the tires on wet roads.

...On the highway they are quiet, comfortable, and wear very well...
Initially bought tires for an Outer Banks beach trip and knew I needed an upgrade to on/off road tire. This tire performed excellent on the beach sand. No issues at all and didn’t even deflate the tires. On the highway they are quiet, comfortable, and wear very well. Handle great in heavy rain where water pools on the road ways. Don’t get much snow in NC so have no review on the snow and ice traction but I’d say for those who live down south this tire is good for everyday on/off road use. Price was excellent too.

I' m very happy with the set of tires, still have lots of tread left, tires have 60,000 miles on them and still look like they could go another 10-15thousand more miles. No tire can stop safely when it starts to drisell especially down hill or up an incline when a medium heavy drizzell has just started to wet the pavement !!!
