The LTX A/T2 is Michelin's On-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed to meet the needs of today's recreational and commercial pickup, van and SUV drivers. It was designed to provide even wear, low noise and good fuel efficiency, even in demanding commercial applications while delivering the year-round traction and durability expected from rugged off-road tires without forsaking the on-road comfort and handling expected of a Michelin tire.
The LTX A/T2 features an advanced light truck tread rubber compound molded into an independent tread block tread design featuring Michelin Biting Edges (notched blocks in the tread pattern) that enhance traction on dirt, mud, gravel, wet grass and snow. Michelin's Advanced MaxTouch Construction results in a unique tire footprint shape that allows for long-lasting, even treadwear while their Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise to deliver a comfortable ride. The tire's internal structure includes two or three steel belts depending on the tire's Load Range and manufacturing location to enhance durability and tread puncture resistance.

Drivers consistently rate the Michelin Defender LTX M/S as excellent across key categories for a highway all-season tire. Treadwear receives strong praise, with many noting long-lasting performance. Comfort stands out for its smooth, quiet ride, even on long trips. Winter traction is highly rated, handling snow and slush confidently, though a few mention slightly reduced grip on ice. Wet traction excels with top scores in hydroplaning resistance. Dry traction and responsive handling are consistently highlighted as outstanding. While most categories show 9-10 ratings, a small number of users report slightly quicker wear than expected, but this remains a minor concern in an otherwise stellar performance profile.

These tires are very quiet and comfortable and they provide very good dry and wet traction. They are much quieter than my previous set of discount brand tires. They look great and appear to be very well made. If they last as long as I have read from other testimonies then I will definitely buy another set.

...The wet traction is excellent, the dry traction is excellent, and the handling cannot be beat...
This is my second set of these exact tires. I have wide 20-in rims on my truck, these tires fill out the rim, and have a profile that I like. The wet traction is excellent, the dry traction is excellent, and the handling cannot be beat. Excellent ride, too. Buy a set.

...Noticeable increase in grip on dry and wet roads...
Replaced factory tires at 45K miles. Noticeable increase in grip on dry and wet roads. Snow is just starting to fall here in northern PA. Good traction in light snow and hardened snow conditions.

Best tire I have ever purchased... smooth on the highway. This tire checks all the boxes...
Best tire I have ever purchased. Excellent in the snow, confident in the rain, smooth and quiet on the highway. This tire checks all the boxes. I just rolled over 70,000 miles and did what will probably be the last tire rotation. Fingers crossed for 80,000+. Treadwear is even with no vibrations or abnormal noises. I had a nail puncture at 60,000 on one tire and after a good patch job it’s still holding strong. I’m very pleased.

You're going to pay more for this tire, but you get what you pay for. This is the quietest, most comfortable tire I've had on a vehicle. Superb handling in dry and wet conditions. Has my highest recommendation.

...Second area is a comfort. It is good. Really good. Even it is track tires, it absorbs irregularities of the road very good, I again enjoy my Escalade...
Michelin tires. Defender LTX M/S - Size: 275/55R20
I would like to say that these tires so far are best I ever had. Believe me, I had tons of different tires. Kumho, General, Bridgestone, Firestone and so on. There are 2 areas in which they are outstanding. It is very light tires, and they are easy to balance. I finally resolved issue of 65 m/h vibration on my large SUV. I tried everything before, tons of balancing (regular, roadside), change and balancing rotors, replace shocks … nothing really helped. I had brand new Bridgestone on my old GMC Yukon, and it was vibrating as a crazy. Second area is a comfort. It is good. Really good. Even it is track tires, it absorbs irregularities of the road very good, I again enjoy my Escalade. I would not comment on other areas, they are just good everywhere else a well. Aquaplaning, braking, cornering, noise… everything is fine. I will highly recommend it to everyone.
Was skeptical of paying a premium for this tire over Pirelli Scorpion ATR which I was used to for 3 sets, but eventually decided to bite the bullet and hope for a better tire, looking for comfort and QUIET, with a high wear life. Was I shocked at how SMOOTH and QUIET the tires are, well worth it...
Was skeptical of paying a premium for this tire over Pirelli Scorpion ATR which I was used to for 3 sets, but eventually decided to bite the bullet and hope for a better tire, looking for comfort and QUIET, with a high wear life. Was I shocked at how SMOOTH and QUIET the tires are, well worth it. 12yo truck is used for long family trips of over 1000 miles each way, have worked hard to kill rattles and noise. This tire exceeds my expectations. I was familiar with the tire family as I have noticed similar results on my Prius, so after accepting the cost, I bought the tire. Very quiet and stable tire, tracks well on highway, rain is not a problem, not squeamish at 80MPH. Tires did not need much to balance. Overall, has brought the joy back to driving a large SUV, will start driving SUV more now.

Great truck and SUV tire choice. I have been using this tire for years, I have never been disappointed. Great tire, I have never gotten less the 70,000 miles out of any of the 5 sets of these that I have had. This tire is a great all around tire choice.

...Replaced two at 68,000 miles, many of which were towing a motorcycle trailer...
These tires are so good for this vehicle, I must recommend them. Great wet and dry performance, low noise, high comfort and long treadwear that remain consistent throughout the tire life. Replaced two at 68,000 miles, many of which were towing a motorcycle trailer. Predictable in snow up to a few inches. A revelation compared to OEM Goodyears.

...Despite running massive amounts of camber in the rear with the 7000lb enclosed attached, tire wear has been extremely good...
Touaregs are sensitive to tire vibration and the old set was terrible with the Continentals flat spotting themselves from sitting all the time. Usage is mostly towing a 5000lb trailer, although also a bigger enclosed. Dry grip is pretty good but definitely lower than a normal all-season, but that's OK. Have never had issues in the rain and it's only slightly worse than my Golf on new X-Ice XI3s in the snow. No issues at all towing a car through NY in a snow storm at this nearly new tread depth. Despite running massive amounts of camber in the rear with the 7000lb enclosed attached, tire wear has been extremely good. Getting exactly what I wanted/expected from them.
