The CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology is Continental Tire's ecologically friendly Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed to help crossovers, sport utility vehicles and light-duty pickup trucks perform on the highway and in mild off-road conditions. The CrossContact LX20 is designed to enhance driving pleasure, save fuel and maintain grip when braking on wet surfaces while providing long wear and all-season traction, even in light snow.
The CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology uses an all-season tread compound featuring Continental's Tg-F Polymers and +Silane additives to improve treadwear, fuel efficiency and traction on slippery roads. The compound is molded into a symmetric tread design with notched outboard shoulders, independent intermediate tread blocks and continuous center ribs to blend on-road steering response and straight-line stability with reduced noise and enhanced ride comfort. Four circumferential grooves enhance wet traction while Continental's Traction Grooves (featuring ridges in the outboard grooves) promote three-dimensional snow-to-snow traction.
The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide on top of a polyester cord casing to combine strength with ride comfort. Most sizes of the CrossContact LX20 come with a flanged lower sidewall to help reduce the possibility of curb damage to expensive wheels.
...Very confident on these tires in the rain when required...
A very early review but overall really like this tire. Have had some debris in the road that needed to be avoided, and the truck felt very responsive - Plus it did what I asked it to do with a good amount of steering input without sliding. Very confident on these tires in the rain when required.
They are reversible and look good on the non-white lettered side. Time will tell on wear and/or dry rot

...Excellent stability in rain, deep puddles, and downpours...
I wanted these tires based on known performance and excellent ratings, and was fortunate to be able to receive both a Michelin rebate and a Tire Rack “pick up” discount which made them more affordable for me. Too bad we didn’t have a flake of snow and zero ice this past winter! But I would have been ready if we had. Bought them for my 2020 Taco and noticed immediately how grippy they were on dry asphalt. Excellent stability in rain, deep puddles, and downpours. There is some noise, but no big deal. Would recommend and definitely but again. Hoping to get good mileage on this set:-)

Most customers rate winter traction highly, with snow and deep snow scores mostly 9s/10s. Ice traction shows strong performance (7-10), though some lower scores indicate occasional challenges in extreme ice.

...The traction is excellent for New England winter driving including in snow and ice... The ride is noticeably rougher than the stock tires, but the traction in snow and on wet roads is far better...
I have been buying all of my tires from tire rack for 3 different vehicles in my family for the past 3 purchases, and will continue to do so in the future. The tires always arrive on time and at a good price. The Michelin defender LTX tires last a long time and work well for my 2006 Tundra 4wd double cab pickup. 60,000 miles driven on former set, and 10,000 miles on this latest set I purchased from tire rack one year ago. The traction is excellent for New England winter driving including snow and ice. The ride is noticeably rougher than the stock tires, but the traction in snow and on wet roads is far better. Cornering and handling is far better than stock as well. I believe the stock tires were Bridgestone. You will feel more bumps in the road, but notice an all together improvement in performance.

...Have never had issues in the rain and it's slightly worse than my Golf on new X-Ice XI3s in the snow. No issues at all towing a car through NY in a snow storm at this nearly new tread depth...
Touaregs are sensitive to tire vibration and the old set was terrible with the Continentals flat spotting themselves from sitting all the time. Usage is mostly towing a 5000lb trailer, although also a bigger enclosed. Dry grip is pretty good but definitely lower than a normal all-season, but that's OK. Have never had issues in the rain and it's only slightly worse than my Golf on new X-Ice XI3s in the snow. No issues at all towing a car through NY in a snow storm at this nearly new tread depth. Despite running massive amounts of camber in the rear with the 7000lb enclosed attached, tire wear has been extremely good. Getting exactly what I wanted/expected from them.

...Quiet, long lasting, amazing wet traction, even better dry traction and sublime snow traction...
These tires are the bomb. Quiet, long lasting, amazing wet traction, even better dry traction and sublime snow traction. You should buy these tires, they might be a little pricey, but I promise they’re worth it. You might be thinking “this guy only has 15,000 on this particular set of tires… how would he know anything about their longevity?” Well I had another set of these tires on a Silverado and they lasted close to 68,000 miles, and they were still fine I just traded the truck in.
Anyway, buy the tires.

...The tires still perform great in dry and light rain conditions!...
This is the second early 2000 Diesel Ford Excursion 4x4 I have run the Michelin Defender LTX M/S on. My experience was the same on both. I gave this set of tires a perfect score. For comparison, prior to the Michelin, I ran Bridgestone AT Revo's on an F350 and Escalade. I feel the Michelin provides possibly double the miles for the same tread wear. Michelin conditions (2 sets), 50,000 miles Las Vegas with a percentage of gravel road use every day and deep sand weekly plus monthly cross country highway including percent with 10k trailer.. 10,000 miles Chicago winter including percent with 5k trailer. 70,000 miles in Phoenix over 48 months. Mix of highway and paved roads. Limited trailer miles. I have 82,500 on this set. They just made it past wear indicators. All wore perfectly even. The center tread is slightly better than the edges. The tires still perform great in dry and light rain conditions! I would not take them on the highway during a storm with this amount of wear but I am surprised that they seem to still be using the same soft rubber as they had with new tread. I expected the tire to transition to a hard rubber by this point. I am very impressed! Looking forward to Michelin outperforming this set of LTX M/S with the M/S2 design.

...Very quiet, excellent dry handling, and tread lasts a long time...
These tires perform amazing to prevent hydroplaning during heavy rain when streets are flooded. Excellent wet traction! Very quiet, excellent dry handling, and tread lasts a long time.
I've used these tires on many skip trips. These are decent on snow but often slide on ice, so I'm getting the Michelin X-Ice Snow tires to swap out during the winter for better ice grip.
This is my favorite all terrain summer tire so far.

...They grip the road nicely and are very responsive to driver inputs...
Much more stable than the Bridgestone tire that I bought the vehicle with. I love these Michelin Defenders. They grip the road nicely and are very responsive to driver inputs. Very good hydroplaning resistance. Haven't experienced them in the winter months yet, but my past experience with Michelin's have always been good in snow so I'm confident these will be too. Too soon to gauge wear as only 1400 miles so far. Very quiet ride and comfortable ride characteristics. So far, very pleased with my purchase.

...I now have 58,000 miles on these Michelins and tread wear is minimal... It's good to know Michelin still invests in developing longer tread wear.
Love these tires! Stock Fortera only lasted 32,000 miles and wet traction suffered after 25,000 miles. I now have 58,000 miles on these Michelins and tread wear is minimal. Still have excellent wet traction in both cornering and braking (I live in south Florida so definitely a must have) and couldn't be happier. Heavy rains bring other drivers to a crawl and my Jeep GC has no problem keeping safe highway speeds. The Forteras had a slight handling advantage but only when new, yet these Michelins have always been better at high speed and are less nervous at the limit. One last plus, I recently hit a very bad pothole that bent my rim. I thought for sure the tire would have a broken belt given the harsh impact and rim damage. Nope! It's fine. Anyone concerned with PRICE, if you factor tread life, these turn out to be a steal- buy the Michelins or Forteras 2.5 times for the same life? Products in general, in this age are no longer designed to last (remember when washer machines would last 15+ years, lol). It's good to know Michelin still invests in developing longer tread wear.

...After 30,000 miles, I highly recommend... I expect to get 70K + tread wear.
Purchased Defender LTX M/S for my 2016 Highlander in September, 2019. After 30,000 miles, I highly recommend. Great in snow, wet, dry conditions. Very secure on the road. Quiet! Low rolling friction which has increased gas mileage by 1 to 1 1/2 mpg. I expect to get 70K + tread wear.

Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tires pay the obvious benefits when it comes to filling your tank at the gas station. But that's not the whole story. You have to drive on these tires everyday, too, including in the snow and on the ice. We brought tires from this category to Sweden with us to learn how well they'll do during the winter driving season.
CUVs and SUVs may not be the most efficient vehicles, but they can benefit from riding on more fuel-efficient tires. We evaluated three of the newest energy efficient tires for these vehicles. All feature the latest tread compound/internal design technology to minimize rolling resistance and maintain traction/road manners.
