The Grabber H/T is General Tire's Highway All-Season tire developed for the drivers of pickup trucks, crossovers, SUVs, full-size vans and electric vehicles (EVs). Designed to combine the latest in comfort and handling with long-lasting strength and durability, Grabber H/T tires blend pleasant road manners and year-round all-season traction, even in light snow.

General Grabber H/T callouts

Grabber H/T tires feature General's Duragen Technology for their rugged cut- and chip-resistant compound, engineered for improved treadlife in all service conditions. This tire's design combines a thick, continuous center rib flanked by an alternating series of S-shaped tread blocks to offer smooth, unbroken contact with the road to enhance steering response. A thorough distribution of sipes throughout both the central tread and shoulder blocks offer biting edges for additional grip on slippery surfaces, working in combination with the notched shoulders to channel away slush and water for enhanced wet road and wintertime grip.

Internal construction of the Grabber H/T is comprised of two layered body plies made up of polyester cord. The footprint is further supported by two ultra-high-strength steel belts reinforced with a single polyamide cap to deliver even pressure distribution for confident braking and stability when it's needed most.

...Confidence in the rain, plenty of traction in the dry, quiet and look great!...

I’ve only done around 300 miles on my tires since purchase but I love them already. Confidence in the rain, plenty of traction in the dry, quiet and look great!
I have not experienced any snow or bad weather with these tires outside of quick heavy downfalls but so far they are awesome and they will be my next set of tires whenever they need replacing. Ordering on Tire Rack was as simple and stress free as it gets. Had them delivered to a local tire place and couldn’t be happier

I honestly never considered writing a review of new tires. I’m 55 and this is the first time I’ve gotten new tires for my vehicle where I can noticeably tell a difference. They are so stable and quiet. My climate this time of year is rainy. Lots of afternoon storms. Driving through puddles …I barely notice. Zero drag. I highly recommend them. They are worth every penny.

Fantastic all around tire. You can find a better dry only tire but for an all-season tire these are top notch! Low noise, low wear, great all around tire. Excellent wet, snow and ice traction with a great handling and ride. Not the cheapest tire but spend the few extra dollars these are well worth it!

I am very, very pleased with the traction and control in inclement conditions. The OEMs were not worn out but they still let the car drift significantly on wet traffic circle even at careful speeds. The car feels much safer now.

I worried that these would be a lot louder than that OEM "EV" foam-filled tires. The addition sound is noticeable but in no way a distraction. You really have to listen for it. In my case, no passenger would be able to tell the difference, only the car's sound-sensitive daily driver.

...Great handling, stopping, grip and responsiveness in rain, sleet, snow, and icy conditions...

This set replaced the OEM tires on my car after 30k miles. They have only been on my car for a little over a 1 month, but thanks to our midwestern "false spring" and "second winter" weather, I've gotten to experience them in several different conditions. Immediately noticed a significant improvement in both road noise and general handling. Great handling, stopping, grip and responsiveness in rain, sleet, snow, and icy conditions.
I've put 2 sets of Michelin Defenders on my previous vehicle, putting over 200k on that vehicle, which is still going strong with those tires still in place. I was consistently very happy with the tread life and overall handling of those tires, and so far having a similar experience with these Defender 2s.

...The Defender 2 provides okay dry traction and confident hydroplaning at speed... In the dry they'll slip on take offs about 90% of the time. We don't have heavy feet...

I've known Michelins to be some of the best engineered tires on the market to date. Typically, you get what you pay for. However, in my years of driving on various brands, I can confidently say that Michelin dropped the ball on the Defender2. They downgraded the ratings to a B, B. As opposed to the previous T+H's A, A.
This model is way more comfortable on the road, and reasonably quiet. The Defender 2 provides okay dry traction and confident hydroplaning at speed. At speed. The kicker is getting up to speed. Our Cr-V is meticulously maintained in its suspension and steering components, and these tires manage to slip on any take off. During rain, it'll kick on traction control off the line on a light throttle and fight to find any traction, regardless if you let off the throttle and continue, it'll slip again and hunt for traction. In the dry they'll slip on take offs about 90% of the time. We don't have heavy feet.
I will praise the tires hydroplaning resistance and steady smooth cruising behavior. It has a very mild manner on the highway that really lets it shine, so I'm at a cross roads, but driving through town it really leaves a bad taste on my mouth. They can't all be winners, but man I had such high hopes for this tire.

...I am also very satisfied with dry traction as well as deep snow performance. They're worlds better than the Falken tires that came with my vehicle from the factory.

After 13 months and over 20,000 miles I have to say I am satisfied with this purchase and are worth the price. I measured the tires with my trip death gauge and they’re all measuring at 8/32. The tires are very quiet and they write very well, my feel economy has not dropped since I bought these. They do OK in wet weather, they do not hydroplane very easily however they do lose traction and slide somewhat easily while cornering in wet weather. I am also very satisfied with dry traction as well as deep snow performance. They’re worlds better than the Falken tires that came with my vehicle from the factory.

...The personality of the vehicle changed immediately with its smoothness and quietness, bringing a huge smile to my face! That was money well-spent...

I waited to purchase the Michelin Defender2 on sale to get the best value, delivery was quick and on time, installation was easy and painless. The personality of the vehicle changed immediately with it's smoothness and quietness, bringing a huge smile to my face! That was money well-spent. The 18 months these tires have been on this vehicle have been remarkable, especially compared to the previous tires. They look good, feel, drive, and sound great! Of the (4) other major brands we've tried, this set of Michelin tires has surpassed all others. There's not enough miles on them to predict the expected wear and life, but we will definitely replace them with Michelin tires when they wear out. We have them rotated & balanced every 3,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first, and check the tire pressure twice a month. They still look new and give the same experience as the first day. We have systematically changed the tires on all our cars and trucks to Michelin and have experienced the same results. The initial cost may be higher, but the ride, feel, comfort, quiet, and performance makes the higher cost well worth it.

More than suitable for heavy EVs so don't fall for the "designed for EVs" marketing slogans. These Defender 2s are significantly better than the stock Goodyear Eagles, which only lasted 18,000 miles. For comfort, quietness, an added sense of security and low maintenance, these are the best set of tires I have owned, which include Michelin Pilots AS and Pirelli Zeros and Cinturatos on previous Audis. I have owned the Defender 2s for about 8 months and have had ZERO low tire pressure warning lights flashing on. The wear on the tires is also minimal so I expect these to last for years of trouble-free driving. Great tires and great, glitchless purchase from Tire Rack.

This is my second set of Defenders. I had some on my last car, same model AWD and I got every penny of the 80,000. Wears even, fantastic traction in snow. I live in Central NY so we get LOTS of snow. In the rain they are amazing. These were recommended by my mechanic and I tell everyone about them. Worth the cost. Very low road noise and ride nice. Highly recommend!!!
