The Energy LX4 is Michelin's Passenger All-Season tire developed for the drivers of full-size sedans, minivans and crossover utility vehicles looking to combine fuel efficiency, ride comfort and all-season traction. Michelin Energy LX4 tires are designed to provide long wear and traction in a wide range of driving conditions including occasional light snow.
Energy LX4 tires use a long lasting all-season compound molded into a symmetric tread design featuring rounder shoulders to provide progressive, predictable cornering. Circumferential grooves and independent tread blocks enhance hydroplaning resistance and wet traction while a continuous center rib promotes highway stability and a quiet, comfortable ride.
Michelin EnergySaver Construction helps enhance vehicle fuel efficiency by requiring less effort from the engine while their Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise.

Consumer experiences reveal the Michelin Energy LX4 delivers a smooth, quiet ride (7-10 comfort/noise scores) and reliable dry traction (7-10 ratings), aligning with its touring focus. However, treadwear receives widespread criticism (frequent 0-5 scores), with many reporting premature wear. Winter traction (common 1-5 scores) struggles in snow/ice, and wet grip shows inconsistency (4-8 range), with some noting hydroplaning risks. While dry performance and comfort stand out, concerns about durability and limited all-season capability in harsh conditions suggest this tire may best suit drivers prioritizing comfort in mild climates.

...It also had excellent dry traction in the normal Alabama heat...
Tire was oem on new 06 Hyundai Sonata, Just replaced set (due to hydroplane concerns from low tread) but after 53,400 miles was very pleased with tire life. Tire from new to replacement was exceptionally quiet and smooth. It also had excellent dry traction in the normal Alabama heat. Attempted to buy new set but was told they were not available to my local tire dealer. Just purchased a new set of Brigstone Turanzas, with the service i received from my Energy's i hope the Turanza does not let me down!

...Dry traction/handling was fine, although I am noticing more squealing now that the tires are down around 5/32...
Biggest disappointment was paying over $700 for a set of tires that lasted less than 25k miles. Driving in Southern CA I didn't have the rain/snow issues that everyone else did. Dry traction/ handling was fine, although I am noticing more squealing now that the tires are down around 5/32". Noise is minimal. Will look for a different tire for the 3rd set.

...I immediately noticed a big improvement. The vibration went away... the noise level dropped...
OEM tires on the Highlander Hybrid were Goodyear Integritys, which had very poor traction in the rain and snow. They also had poor treadwear (lasted less than 15000 miles). I bought Bridgestone H/L Alenzas based on the reviews on Tirerack.com. Reviews are fairly accurate, but I was hoping for more. Biggest issues with the Alenzas: bad vibration at highway speeds, the steering wheel pulled hard to the left when starting out, and I also saw a 4 to 5 MPG drop in milage, something I didnt want, especially with a hybrid vehicle. Thank goodness the Alenzas had a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee. I traded the Alenzas in for Michelin Energy LX4s. I immediately noticed a big improvement. The vibration went away, handling and cornering stability improved, the noise level dropped, and the gas mileage has improved to even better than what I previously saw with the hybrid. The rain traction has been excellent and I have not had any problem with hydroplaning, even when driving through puddles at highway speeds. Hopefully the LX4 treadwear will be good and the traction in snow next winter will prove competent. Similar to other reviewers, I feel the LX4s are an excellent match for Highlander 4x4s (especially the hybrid) and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering purchasing them.

...The highway tire noise is so low I can hear the engine on accelration...
After running down my OEM HT Dulers at 27k miles I looked for something better. After reading the reviews on tirerack.com I choose the Michelin Energy LX4s. I could not be more pleased with these tires. They are a signifant increase in quality from the stock tires on my Saturn 2003 Vue AWD. The highway tire noise is so low I can hear the engine on accelration. I have tried fast starts from standstill with no slippage even when pulling hard rights (which all Vue owners know happens alot with stock tires). Cornering is great as well. It rained this past week and I have had no problem with highway nor street driving) I highly recomend these tires for Saturn Vue AWD Owners.

...I have hydroplaned multiple times with these tires at highway speeds despite being inflated to 40psi (5 psi above manufacturer recommended). Luckily, it was always the front end that hydroplaned... This car is awful with these tires pulling away from a stop, in the wet you can get wheelspin in second gear!...
These are the tires that came OEM on my Honda Odyssey... they are awful. Snow performance is horrible, I nearly got stranded in a rogue snowstorm last fall. In 3" of snow I had to turn the VSA off just to get it moving on level ground! It really made me appreciate what a difference winter tires make! I have hydroplaned multiple times with these tires at highway speeds despite being inflated to 40psi (5 psi above manufacturer recommended). Luckily, it was always the front end that hydroplaned. I truly believe that all season tires wear faster in cold weather. My neighbor's are very impressed at the 38,000mi. I managed to coax out of these tires(this does not include the milleage on the winter tires), they only got around 25,000. They would have lasted longer if the car had more negative camber (will have it adjusted in the spring)as the outside shoulders wore out first, or maybe I should slow down. You shouldn't expect this kind of milleage if you use your all-seasons in cold weather, don't overinflate them and don't rotate them twice a year. This car is awful with these tires pulling away from a stop, in the wet you can get wheelspin in second gear! Overall, pretty awful even for an OEM tire, that is likely why Honda puts Michelin MXV4s on the new Odyssey. I would try other tires if you are looking for a replacement. I just bought 245/50/18 Kumho SPT tires for the summer rubber and am looking forward to putting them on!

Customers report mixed winter traction with snow scores ranging 8-10 but ice traction often 0-6. While adequate for All-Season use, some note limitations in severe winter conditions.

...They have HORRIBLE traction in snow (always have) and I can't wait to replace them for the safety of my family. If you drive in any kind of snow or ice conditions, all I can say is STAY AWAY - STAY FAR FAR AWAY.

These were OE tires on my Odyssey, and I've just put them back on after taking off my X-Ice xi2s, which are excellent. The LX4s are loud, hard riding tires abviously designed to squeeze out a tenth of an MPG more in testing. They were absymal in snow/ice, and hydroplane fairly easily. Treadwear has been okay, although the previous owner did not rotate them so two have worn faster.
I am considering replacing them with Defenders, which have gotten good reviews.

...Very early on, the OEM Michelin Energy LX4's had excessive overall tread wear with especially heavy edge wear. By 28,000 miles they had to be replaced...
From the day I drove it off the lot, I faithfully checked tire pressure every month or two and rotated/balanced every 5,000-6,000 miles.
Very early on, the OEM Michelin Energy LX4's had excessive overall tread wear with especially heavy edge wear. By 28,000 miles they had to be replaced. The dealership said they were not covered by their warranty. The tire store said since they were OEM tires, they had no mileage warranty. They felt it was definitely an alignment issue. So I purchased lifetime alignment in anticipation of correcting the problem for the next set of tires. Only problem was - when the alignment was performed, everything was well within specs.
I contacted Michelin directly and pleaded my case. I was very pleased to be given 50% credit toward replacement set of 4 tires.
Now, just turned 28,000 miles on this second set of Energy LX4's. All the while, still checking tire pressure regularly, rotating and balancing every 5,000-6,000 miles, plus having alignment checked at same interval (always reports within specs). And now this set is completely worn out too! Tread is at 3/32nds with even worse edge wear than before.
Spoke with alignment shop and tire store and they both said the Odyssey is just too heavy for this tire. Chews them up.
When Michelin gave me such excellent customer service after my first set wore out, I thought I'd be a Michelin customer for life. But my poor experience now with a second set of Michelins has sent me searching for another manufacturer.
Looking at the reviews, I've decided to purchase Goodyear's Assurance ComforTred Touring tire. It's mileage warranty is 80,000 (instead of 50,000 for the Energy LX4).
I really wanted the Michelins to work out. Was very disappointed they did not.
I figure if my Odyssey chews through this third set in another 28,000 miles, at least I'll get a greater credit toward a fourth set!
Hope this helps!

...But at 30K miles (2.5 years) on my Odyssey with 50/50 Hwy/city driving, the thread is down to 4/32... Had to replace the tires and did not go with Michelin LX4 for the new ones given the track record...
While brand new the tires offered a quiet ride and fair traction. But at 30K miles (2.5 years) on my Odyssey with 50/50 Hwy/city driving, the thread is down to 4/32, road noise is way up, traction and responsiveness are horrible. Had to replace the tires and did not go with Michelin LX4 for the new ones given the track record. They can't compete with other good alternatives out there.
