The Pilot Sport 5 is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire developed for drivers of premium high performance sports cars, coupes, and sedans. The Pilot Sport 5 is engineered to deliver a balance of responsive handling, confident grip, and long service life in both dry and wet conditions. However, like all summer tires, they are not intended for use in near freezing temperatures, snow, or ice.
The Pilot Sport 5 is available with Michelin's Premium Touch sidewall treatment delivering a rich, matte-black finish that complements high-performance vehicles with understated elegance.
The Pilot Sport 5's high silica summer compound has been molded into an asymmetric tread design to combine sharp dry road handling with reliable wet traction. Michelin's MaxTouch Construction is designed to evenly distribute forces during acceleration, braking, and cornering for greater dry performance and longer wear. Wide circumferential grooves and optimized tread geometry, particularly on the inboard side of the tire help evacuate water efficiently to resist hydroplaning and shorten wet braking distances.
The internal structure features a single ply polyester casing supporting twin steel belts for enhanced ride comfort while maintaining high speed stability and durability, and reinforced with Michelin's Dynamic Response Technology, a hybrid aramid/nylon reinforcement that ensures steering inputs are transmitted precisely to the road.
