The Pilot Sport A/S 3+ are Ultra High Performance All-Season tires, members of Michelin's Pilot family of low profile, high-speed tires developed for the drivers of high-end sports cars, sporty coupes and sedans looking for total performance. The Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tire is designed to provide Michelin's highest level of ultra-high all-season performance, emphasizing dry road handling and wet road grip with balanced all-season traction for occasional light snow.

Compared to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 it replaces, the new Pilot Sport A/S 3+ shares the same performance-oriented tread pattern, featuring a new, advanced Helio+ tread compound for increased light-snow traction.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires feature Michelin's Helio+ Technology, which utilizes sunflower oil and Extreme Silica Technology in the tread compound to increase traction at low temperatures and on wet roads. Molded into an aggressive asymmetric tread pattern inspired by the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, its 4-, 5- or 6-rib designs* are tuned to complement tire width and feature more rubber and rigid blocks on their outboard shoulders to provide high levels of lateral grip that offer as much dry cornering capability as some competitors' summer performance tires. Wide circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning, enhancing wet traction and grip in standing water.

Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technology derived from Michelin's experience in endurance racing focuses on evenly spreading contact patch pressures and temperatures. The tire's internal structure includes two high-tensile, lightweight steel cord belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide cord to combine predictable handling and high-speed durability with treadwear and ride comfort.

*Tread design rib counts are identified on the tire's Specs tab.

...After getting these installed it was in the rain and I expected to have some slippage on a brand new set of tires but NOPE! Even brand new tires in the rain they didn't slip at ALL!

I have a set of snow tires so I can't speak for the winter performance. For my summer tires I bought new wheels and went with 245/40-18 (vs the stock 215/45-17). I went with this larger size because I couldn't get the traction I wanted. The first set of tires I got were the BFGOODRICH G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S. These improved the traction some but it still seemed too easy to spin the tires (especially when accelerating and turning from a stop). This time I decided to go with the best rated all season I could find, MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S 3+. I wanted all season rather that summer because I live in Ohio and the weather can fluctuate 40 degrees from one day to the next. After getting these installed it was raining and I expected to have some slippage on a brand new set of tires but NOPE! Even brand new tires in the rain they didn't slip at ALL! I knew I was buying excellent tires but WOW! Absolutely amazing. The handling / corning / traction is miles apart from any tire I've ever used. If you want a tire that is the BEST performance possible look no further. I'll never use a different tire again (unless Michelin brings out an even better model). Again I have to say AMAZING!!!

...It has been raining a bit lately also and there was absolutely no noticable drop off in grip. The car stuck to the road like glue...

Got these tires to replace the crappy tires that came with the car at the dealership, Sentry UHP tires. Far and away a huge difference. First thing I noticed was that on a hard launch there was absolutely no tire chirp or loss of traction, even with traction control off. My old tires would slip and chirp even with the traction control on. These tires grip like no other and inspire confidence on hard cornering and provide excellent braking. My drive to work includes driving through twisty mountain roads and believe me when I say I've been testing them. It has been raining a bit lately also and there was absolutely no noticable drop off in grip. The car stuck to the road like glue.

As far as noise, these tires have been extremely quiet and smooth as well. Driving down the highway at excessive speeds on my old tires gave me rumbles and a shakey steering wheel and loud drone. With these tires its smooth as butter and very quiet with no steering wheel shake at all.

Needless to say I am very pleased with these tires. I hear that the one drawback is that treadlife is an issue, so that remains to be seen. So far, every other aspect of these tires exceeded my expectations.

...It is responsive and predictable under all weather and road conditions... While being extremely happy with the tires on both wet and dry roads, I was very pleased with two particular aspects...

I'll start with the bottom line: I have owned SUV's since the '90's, with several brands of tires. This tire is the best of any I have owned. It is responsive and predictable under all weather and road conditions, comfortable and reasonably quiet, and appears to be wearing well - I expect to get 35 - 40,000 miles based on wear to date - or lack of it. The only thing I would improve would be to make it a bit more aggressive response to initial steering input. This is not saying it is a slouch or squishy; It is very smooth in response to inputs, precise and quick with just a VERY slight initial soft feeling for the blink of an eye. While being extremely happy with the tires on both wet and dry roads, I was very pleased with two particular aspects. As I live in the Sierra Nevada, I spend time on Forest Service dirt roads and on snow and ice. Both dirt grip and ride comfort on dirt roads and trails is surprising good for street tires. An even bigger surprise came when we had snow, then a hard freeze and light snow over that. We got home drama free, driving up our somewhat steep street right past several of our neighbors who couldn't get up the hill in, amon.g other vehicles, Subaru's and Jeep's. OK, the M-B 4Matic system is great but still, I think the tires were the biggest factor in our getting home while others did not. Bottom line, same as the opening: These tires exceed what I have experienced with any other SUV tires. They are so good, I just ordered a set for our family sport sedan as well

...Long story short, the winter traction exceeded my expectations. Not sure I would want to do this again without winter tires for the car, I got lucky that we didn't have very many bad snow days. On those days traction was within the realm of 'safe' as long as I drove very slow.

I'm guessing I have a better perception of the limits of the snow traction of these tires than most as I drove them through this relatively mild winter we have had here in Indiana this year.

As for other aspects of the tire, the ride comfort is very nice, performance in the dry/wet excellent, very close to my Conti Sport 3 OE tires, maybe 10-15% less at the limit in the dry.

They seem to be wearing normally, not many miles on the car so hard to gauge that at this point, and they are very comfortable.

I had the previous generation Pilot Sport A/S 3 and they were very good in all areas except snow. They were real bad. I could not wait to get my winter tires on. I drove this new edition in 4 snow storms. Light snow , deep snow and icy conditions . They are so much better than the last set. I did put my winter tires on but I felt confident driving these during the snow falls.

...The tires handled amazingly. I have been a long time owner of performance vehicles (BMW, Porsche, Tesla) and have found these tires to be the best all season ultra high performance tires I have owned. The handled is amazing and I confidently can drive in any condition...

This is my second set of this tire. The original set came OEM from Tesla and wore out after only 22,000 miles. The tires handled amazingly. I have been a long time owner of performance vehicles (BMW, Porsche, Tesla) and have found these tires to be the best all season ultra high performance tires I have owned. The handled is amazing and I confidently can drive in any condition. Several other reviewers have noted the louder sound from these tires. I have to say I haven't noticed that myself even being in an electric car with no engine noise. You hear the road but nothing more than I would expect from any other tire. The AWD on my car makes traction even in snow a non issue.

The tires did wear out very quickly though (both times). The second set was down to 3/32 in only 17,000 miles. Michelin is honoring their warranty though since the tire comes with a 45,000 mile warranty. Based on that I am receiving 60%+ off a replacement set of tires. Without hesitation I am getting the exact same set again. Would highly recommend!

Compared to the stock Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tires, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ in 255/45R20 size are better in every way. Most notably the ride comfort and road noise are excellent. Wet and dry traction are much improved over the Pirelli. There are not very many choices of tires in this size but regardless I am completely satisfied with these tires. I will most likely be putting them on my Saab 9-3 convertible in the fall.

...On dry roads, let's just say if you want to push your car, these tires respond and you'll gain more confidence driving and testing your car's speeds...

I've only had the tires for a couple of months. We had a brief snowstorm on the EastCoast this month and though it was a few inches, the tires handled very well. They are GREAT! in the rain and handle very well but I didn't want to push my limits. On dry roads, let's just say if you want to push your car, these tires respond and you'll gain more confidence driving and testing your car's speeds. Sadly, only 2 months having the tires, I got my first nail in one of them but nothing much you can do for road tear and wear, it was bound to happen. I'm very pleased with this purchase and it gives the car a great look!!

...Whether it's wet or dry, the ride quality is superior to anything I've ever driven. It absorbs bumps and is so smooth that you forget completely that the wheels are as large as they are...

It's early, but I still had to talk about these incredible tires. Michelin is just a notch above its competitors. The M Sport package really makes the tire a focal point of the driving experience (tuned suspension/larger, staggered fit wheels). If the tire has a weak point, it will show up. The A/S 3+ is brilliant because of the confidence it gives you no matter the conditions. In the dry, you can lean on it when cornering and know that as soon as you hit the throttle, the rear tires are going to grip every time and let you use all 450+ hp coming out of the turn. On a previous vehicle I also had 19 inch staggered fit wheels, but with a much cheaper/lower quality summer tire. I had to be so careful in the rain, and you felt every bump go up your back. The A/S 3+ channels moisture to the point that unless it's pouring down, you can drive the car without any reservations. I'm able to go 70-80 mph on the interstate and easily change lanes. Whether it's wet or dry, the ride quality is superior to anything I've ever driven. It absorbs bumps and is so smooth that you forget completely that the wheels are as large as they are. If you have a high performance car, you NEED this tire. It's strong all year round, it wears better than rival brands, and it rides so much better than a higher priced, run-flat tire. I will never buy another brand of tire, Michelin FTW!

This is an overall GREAT handling tire even better than my last Michelins I had. After a few days of driving I noticed that the tires were VERY LOUD. That is the only ONE problem, but it is not that big of a deal. I guess that is what must be compromised for great traction, grip, cornering abilities, stopping distance, and great pick up from a dead stop on the BEST All-Season ULTRA High Performance Tires on the current market.

...Tires seem to be wearing nice and even and show little amount of wear after 7,000 miles of mostly spirited driving...

Had these tires installed October 2015 and have been very impressed with their overall performance regardless of weather conditions. I normally swap out my summer/all-season tires in late November for dedicated winter tires, but I decided to keep these tires on throughout the winter months to see how well they did. In light to moderate snow, these tires have little issue with traction even in pretty heavy braking. I could still get around just fine in deeper snow conditions, but the tires did have a harder time navigating in those conditions. It's hard to expect really great traction on ice, but based on previous experiences with all-season tires on ice these did quite well. These tires have phenomenal traction on wet roads even when it's quite cold. They didn't start to slip at all on wet roads until the temps were well below freezing. The tires ride a little firm, but that's to be expected with this type of tire. They're very low on noise for an ultra high performance all-season tire. Handling is very crisp and predictable. Tires seem to be wearing nice and even and show little amount of wear after 7,000 miles of mostly spirited driving. I highly recommend these tires to anyone that's a spirited driver that either needs an all-season tire due to weather or doesn't want a quicker wearing summer compound tire.

...Warranty was 45,000 mi. and the tires lasted about 41,000 mi. Tires were maintained with proper psi, rotated every 6000 miles, and alignment checked with any service (at least every 6000 mi). Michelin warranty still willing to pay out about $60 per tire ($240 total) with 2/32 remaining on all tires...

Overall great tire for performance driving and safety, but I will be going back to a premium grand touring all season tire for more comfort and a quieter ride. The GT type tires seem to be good enough now unless you are really pushing your car hard which is something I do all the time but couldn't reasonably reach the tires limits in reasonable spirited driving. Thus I feel the extra performance abilities of this tire were wasted for my use.

Warranty was 45,000 mi. and the tires lasted about 41,000 mi. Tires were maintained with proper psi, rotated every 6000 miles, and alignment checked with any service (at least every 6000 mi). Traction in the dry and wet and during cornering and braking was amazing. These tires made me consider upgrading my brakes to try to keep up with the traction. It was hard to push this tire to its limits during normal spirited driving (that is driving in a way that wouldn't be a risk to others or get myself a ticket)

Traction in mud, snow, and loose dirt was reasonable, but didn't exist when starting from a standstill; probably due to my car's lack of torque control on the rear axel (rear wheel drive).

Noise - at first they were quiet but after a few thousand miles, I could hear a slight ringing from the tires when pushed in cornering. Once the tires were at 50% life and beyond, the road noise is very loud. Most will just turn up the audio system to cover but if the audio is off and you're talking on a phone, the tire noise is very noticeable to the occupants and the person on the other end of the phone call.

Tire problems - one tire refused to bead seal causing a very slow leak over time and had to be replaced. This might have also been my rim but the replacement did not have a problem. Another tire had a little uneven wear due to an alignment issue and the tread started to crack and separate at 2/32chr(34)

...Compared to the Pirelli P Zeroes, which rode great, the ride on the Michelins was stiff, noisy, and harsh with too much road feel. The Michelins are highly rated performance tires, but they are the wrong tire for this car...

This Volvo S90 shipped with summer Pirelli P Zero tires on 20" wheels, but we needed all season tires and there aren't many choices in this size. We knew the 20" wheels and summer tires would be a problem when we bought the car. We tried to find a 19" option, but that didn't work and instead we arranged for Volvo to install Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ tires, which was the only tire Volvo would agree to. That was great, except the Michelins completely ruined the ride. Compared to the Pirelli P Zeroes, which rode great right off the lot, the ride on the Michelins was stiff, noisy, and harsh with too much road feel. The Michelins are highly rated performance tires, but they are the wrong tire for this car. If you have a similar Volvo with 20" wheels, be aware that the Michelins are on the extreme end of the sport/performance spectrum and you will pay a price in ride quality and noise.
