The Pilot Sport A/S 3+ are Ultra High Performance All-Season tires, members of Michelin's Pilot family of low profile, high-speed tires developed for the drivers of high-end sports cars, sporty coupes and sedans looking for total performance. The Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tire is designed to provide Michelin's highest level of ultra-high all-season performance, emphasizing dry road handling and wet road grip with balanced all-season traction for occasional light snow.

Compared to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 it replaces, the new Pilot Sport A/S 3+ shares the same performance-oriented tread pattern, featuring a new, advanced Helio+ tread compound for increased light-snow traction.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires feature Michelin's Helio+ Technology, which utilizes sunflower oil and Extreme Silica Technology in the tread compound to increase traction at low temperatures and on wet roads. Molded into an aggressive asymmetric tread pattern inspired by the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, its 4-, 5- or 6-rib designs* are tuned to complement tire width and feature more rubber and rigid blocks on their outboard shoulders to provide high levels of lateral grip that offer as much dry cornering capability as some competitors' summer performance tires. Wide circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning, enhancing wet traction and grip in standing water.

Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technology derived from Michelin's experience in endurance racing focuses on evenly spreading contact patch pressures and temperatures. The tire's internal structure includes two high-tensile, lightweight steel cord belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide cord to combine predictable handling and high-speed durability with treadwear and ride comfort.

*Tread design rib counts are identified on the tire's Specs tab.

I have used these tires in the snow and anything over 2 inches and they become useless in a rwd set up.

This is my second set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires since I was delighted with the first set. Mileage was great (40 K ) and traction in all weather conditions was superior. I especially like the wet-weather traction that they provide. While they are more expensive than some other brands, they provide longer wear and superior traction than other brands that I've tried so they are worth the extra expense.

...As for other aspects of the tire, the ride comfort is very nice, performance in the dry/wet excellent, very close to my Conti Sport 3 OE tires, maybe 10-15% less at the limit in the dry.

I'm guessing I have a better perception of the limits of the snow traction of these tires than most as I drove them through this relatively mild winter we have had here in Indiana this year.

Long story short, the winter traction of these tires exceeded my expectations.

Not sure I would want to do this again without winter tires for the car, I got lucky that we didn't have very many bad snow days.

On those days traction was within the realm of 'safe' as long as I drove very slow.

As for other aspects of the tire, the ride comfort is very nice, performance in the dry/wet excellent, very close to my Conti Sport 3 OE tires, maybe 10-15% less at the limit in the dry.

They seem to be wearing normally, not many miles on the car so hard to gauge that at this point, and they are very comfortable.

...I was very pleased with handled in that first snow (2 - 3" accumulation)... I was driving at safe speeds and felt very secure in my lane position with no jerky motions...

Just to be clear, we have been in lock down for the last 8 months due to Covid-19. So while I have had the tires a year, they are but "lightly" used since I have been working from home. However, I still wanted to provide a review of these tires on a 2017 Subaru WRX limited, manual since when I was shopping for these, there was not a lot out there to help me decide.
I bought my car with the OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx RT in place, and they were the absolute worst tires I have ever driven. They were super loud (15,000 miles wear) and provided a very substandard ride quality for my commute. To be fair, this may or may not have been exaggerated by the Subaru sport tuned suspension. And if we can ignore rain and snow, the tires had some flexing issues and were prone to break away if pushed a little. They had to go and I was very unsure on what to purchase next...
I am very pleased to report that the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ are a vast improvement over the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT, even on dry ground. I have been driving performance oriented vehicles most of my adult life and would never have believed these to be all season tires. They have that sharp responsive feel of a high quality performance tire breaking into and accelerating out of turns. They are much quieter (through the first 8,000 miles anyway) and have tamed the previously harsh road feel that the Dunlop SportMaxx provided. it is like night and day in all respects. And when it comes to "all weather" driving, I was very pleased with the way the car handled in that first snow (2 - 3" accumulation). I hate to compare it to the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT in the snow, but that is all I have to measure against with this car - the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ were infinitely better. I was driving at safe speeds and felt very secure in my lane position with no jerky motions. The same goes for rain. I would buy these or their replacement tires again. Much improved on dry ground and the elements!

...I'm most impressed with the light snow and ice performance. What an improvement over the previous version of this tire!!...

The tire has performed very well so far. I'm most impressed with the light snow and ice performance. What an improvement over the previous version of this tire!! It handles and grips like a borderline summer only tire. The ride quality is a bit harsh when compared to the best in this class, but you always give something to get something in tires like this. I'm running a couple PSI lower than recommended to mitigate this.
If you're looking for an ultra high performance all season tire that leans more toward the performance side than the comfort side this would be great choice. If you're willing to give up a bit of the ride quality for truly great 3 season performance and more than adequate winter capabilities then look no further than this tire.

...In light to moderate snow, these tires have little issue with traction even in pretty heavy braking. Had these tires installed October 2015 and have been very impressed with their overall performance regardless of weather conditions. I normally swap out my summer/all-season tires in late November for dedicated winter tires, but I decided to keep these tires on throughout the winter months to see how well they did. In light to moderate snow, these tires have little issue with traction even in pretty heavy braking. I could still get around just fine in deeper snow conditions, but the tires did have a harder time navigating in those conditions. It's hard to expect really great traction on ice, but based on previous experiences with all-season tires on ice these did quite well. These tires have phenomenal traction on wet roads even when it's quite cold. They didn't start to slip at all on wet roads until the temps were well below freezing. The tires ride a little firm, but that's to be expected with this type of tire. They're very low on noise for an ultra high performance all-season tire. Handling is very crisp and predictable. Tires seem to be wearing nice and even and show little amount of wear after 7,000 miles of mostly spirited driving. I highly recommend these tires to anyone that's a spirited driver that either needs an all-season tire due to weather or doesn't want a quicker wearing summer compound tire.

...Side walls have very little give so cornering is fantastic... and road grip is tenacious...

Had the previous version of this tire the A/S 3. Bought it again because I don't think there is a better tire on the market. For all the nay-sayers about the snow traction...c'mon. This is an ultra high performance all season tire......if you're running them n the snow what do you expect?? I had zero issues with the previous version on the days it snowed in Virginia and these are supposed to be 28% better. As far as spring through fall I cant overdrive these tires which is why I keep buying them. Side walls have very little give so cornering is fantastic, hydroplaning is non-existent and road grip is tenacious. Ive had goodyears, bridgestones and conti's on the car and will keep buying this tire as long as they make them! For mileage I got about 40,000 miles out of the last set.....again....its an UHP A/S tire......they wont last forever.

Compared to the stock Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tires, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ in 255/45R20 size are better in every way. Most notably the ride comfort and road noise are excellent. Wet and dry traction are much improved over the Pirelli. There are not very many choices of tires in this size but regardless I am completely satisfied with these tires. I will most likely be putting them on my Saab 9-3 convertible in the fall.

...Whether it's wet or dry, the ride quality is superior to anything I've ever driven. It absorbs bumps and is so smooth that you forget completely that the wheels are as large as they are...

It's early, but I still had to talk about these incredible tires. Michelin is just a notch above its competitors. The M Sport package really makes the tire a focal point of the driving experience (tuned suspension/larger, staggered fit wheels). If the tire has a weak point, it will show up. The A/S 3+ is brilliant because of the confidence it gives you no matter the conditions. In the dry, you can lean on it when cornering and know that as soon as you hit the throttle, the rear tires are going to grip every time and let you use all 450+ hp coming out of the turn. On a previous vehicle I also had 19 inch staggered fit wheels, but with a much cheaper/lower quality summer tire. I had to be so careful in the rain, and you felt every bump go up your back. The A/S 3+ channels moisture to the point that unless it's pouring down, you can drive the car without any reservations. I'm able to go 70-80 mph on the interstate and easily change lanes. Whether it's wet or dry, the ride quality is superior to anything I've ever driven. It absorbs bumps and is so smooth that you forget completely that the wheels are as large as they are. If you have a high performance car, you NEED this tire. It's strong all year round, it wears better than rival brands, and it rides so much better than a higher priced, run-flat tire. I will never buy another brand of tire, Michelin FTW!

To date, I think these Michelins are a very comfortable high-performance tire with excellent wet-weather traction. I I don't have enough miles or weather on them to evaluate longevity or snow performance, but I have driven them in dry and wet highway conditions, and they are very smooth-riding, have great wet and dry traction, and impart confidence in their handling. They corner extremely well, wet or dry. They are a little less precise in steering input than I expected, but they have a lot more tread than the tires they replaced,a set of Continental Pro Contact all-seasons, and the summer-only performance tires on my Porsche. The Contis were old, worn-out, and noisy, so there is no real comparison there, but my impression is that the Michelins are superior. My E350 is the sport version, but I must admit that when writing this review I realized my driving has gone from "spirited" to "average", especially in this vehicle. That said, I do have some experience driving competition vehicles with slicks, and Minnesota gives you a good opportunity to practice your car-handling skills, so this review is not entirely uninformed.

This is a W84 tire. Owning my second NC MX5 and many different tires the search for a great tire that is quit for this car is a challenge. This tire as exceeded my expectation. Winter in Northwest is wet 30s and 40s with always a chance of snow. This tire is so quit in a very noisy car with the hard top up is supervising. The noise issue with this car is solved. Handling is similar to my Michelin summer supper sport tires so far.

Purchased these Pilot Sport A/S 3+ to replace Continentals. Performed very well in all weathers here in Wisconsin. For an all season tire, they did wonderfull in the snow, especially with the help of Audi's quattro. Wet performance is very confident. Dry conditions and handling is exceptional. With every set of Michelin tire I have owned so far, noise level is near non-existent from tires. Drove roughly 45k miles and still have plenty of tread left. Would definitely recommend these for an all around tire.

...Customers note: "Got the car in March and all summer was happy with how it drove but noticed the fronts (staggered set up so rotation not possible) were wearing quickly enough after 10k that I would for sure have to buy another set of tires prior to lease end... They are rated for 45k but, since they're staggered and can't be rotated, won't get near that. I only need them to last for about 25k, so we'll see."...

This is my fourth set of Pilot A/S on now three different cars but, as my last four cars were leases, this is the first set of tires I've bought in about ten years. All leases were BMW's, which means run-flats as OEM. BMW generally (and I now realize shamefully just to save on spare tires) chooses a medium performance, all season, run flat as OEM and for the most part they were "fine" but on this lease, I went for the M40i model X3 with 20" wheels so the OEM tire was a summer-only Bridgestone Alanza. Got the car in March and all summer was happy with how it drove but noticed the fronts (staggered set up so rotation not possible) were wearing quickly enough after 10k that I would for sure have to buy another set of tires prior to lease end. Opted to buy them now, for me, rather than later, for the next guy, and with winter coming chose the Pilot A/S. What an incredible difference! The first day I had them it was raining and when getting on the highway took my favorite on ramp at 60+ without a squeal or wobble whereas the 'Stones would have chattered badly at that speed, especially in the rain. In addition, not being RF, these tires ride and respond SO MUCH BETTER. I had really gotten numb to the benign ride, performance and limits of previous RF tires, but the combo of this car and these tires has brought the real driving feel right back and lets me easily take the M40i to the limits where it really wants to be driven! The 'Stones are now stacked in my garage and I'm hoping to get through the lease on the Pilots then put the old tires back on just before turn in. They are rated for 45k but, since they're staggered and can't be rotated, won't get near that. I only need them to last for about 25k, so we'll see. As far as the "peace of mind" that comes with run flats the reality is, unless it's the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere, a tire goes down I'm calling BMW SOS or AAA anyway so it's at best a false confidence feature in my opinio
