The Pilot Sport GT P2L is Michelin's Wet Racetrack and Autocross Only tire, designed for touring and GT vehicles competing in sprint and endurance racing. It's designed to accommodate drivers on damp and drying tracks to deliver stable handling, repeatable lap times, high levels of traction, and the durability needed for competitive finishes.

Formulated with a high-grip compound optimized for wet conditions, the Pilot Sport GT P2L provides confident traction and control throughout race sessions. Its directional tread pattern incorporates twin circumferential grooves alongside lateral and sweeping channels to evacuate water from the contact patch for enhanced grip on slick surfaces. Augmented by Michelin's Water Break Technology: the tread is engineered to disrupt the surface water film, further minimizing the risk of hydroplaning. Its evacuation grooves are complemented by deep transverse sipes, which further disperse the water layer to maintain consistent road contact.

If you use a heater cabinet or tire warmers: the maximum heating temperature must not exceed the internal rolling temperature of the tires. Above this temperature, the properties of the rubber can change and thus degrade performance. The minimum warm-up time is 45 minutes to reach stabilization. The maximum heating time is 2 hours (beyond this, there is a risk of the rubber changing).

Michelin Pilot Sport GT P2L tires do not meet DOT requirements, and are not appropriate for roadway use. Like all Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, Pilot Sport GT P2L tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. It's essential these tires be stored indoors according to Michelin recommendations.

On Storage: Tires must not be subject to:

  • Direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight
  • Sources of extreme heat and humidity
  • Solvents, lubricants, fuels and other chemicals
  • Ozone emissions from equipment such as a transformer, welder, electric motor, etc.
  • Long-term storage in a stack.

Non-compliance with these storage recommendations may significantly reduce the period over which the tire retains its performance. The storage location must be dry, ventilated, out of direct light and kept solely for tires. Racks allowing tires to be stored vertically are to be used in order to avoid tension on the casings.

Note on Tire Aging: Michelin recommends using Michelin Competition tires within a maximum of 24 months following their date of purchase (within 4 months in the event of storage in severe tropical- type conditions) or within 12 months for wet tires.
