The Pilot Sport PS2 ZP (Zero Pressure) is Michelin's Max Performance Summer run-flat tire developed for selected performance sedans and sports cars. Initially introduced as Original Equipment (O.E.) on BMW 3 series sport package cars, the Pilot Sport PS2 ZP has recently expanded its O.E. applications to include Michelin's first Corvette fitment on the highest performing production supercar in Chevrolet's history, the 2009 Corvette ZR1. The Pilot Sport PS2 ZP is designed to combine world class dry road traction, handling and cornering, however it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Pilot Sport PS2 ZP molds an advanced tread rubber compound into an asymmetric tread design featuring Michelin's Variable Contact Patch to keep more tread rubber on the road during a variety of maneuvers. The tread design features large outboard shoulder blocks and continuous intermediate and center ribs to provide a solid connection to the ground for control during cornering, braking and acceleration in dry conditions. The tread design also features wide circumferential grooves and lateral notches that help channel water through the footprint to enhance wet road traction. The tire's internal structure includes two steel cord belts that are further reinforced by size-optimized, spirally wound polyamide to improve steering response and resistance to distortion while enhancing ride quality and high-speed durability. Pilot Sport PS2 ZP tires incorporate Michelin's newest generation of run-flat technology including a heavy-duty rayon casing reinforced by rubber zero pressure sidewall inserts.

Customers Say

Customer surveys indicate the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP excels in dry traction, with scores frequently reaching 9-10 for confident cornering and responsive handling. Wet traction also earns strong marks (7-10), with many noting reliable grip and hydroplaning resistance. Comfort receives positive feedback, emphasizing a smooth ride and manageable noise levels (7-10). Treadwear shows mixed results: while some report satisfactory longevity (7-10), others note rapid wear (scores as low as 0-2), a common trade-off for high-performance summer tires. Overall, drivers praise its precision in dry and wet conditions, aligning well with its max-performance summer design, though tread life may vary depending on usage intensity.

...THE WET TRACTION IS GREAT. I HAD THE REGULAR PILOT SPORTS BEFORE AND THEY GIVE SLIGHTLY BETTER TRACTION THAN THESE DO...

I DRIVE MY M3 HARD AND FAST NEARLY ALL OF THE TIME AND I'M VERY AGGRESSIVE ON THE TWISTY ROADS. I HONESTLY GOT 34000 MILES ON THE REAR TIRES BEFOR HAVING TO REPLACE THEM. THE WET TRACTION IS GREAT. I HAD THE REGULAR PILOT SPORTS BEFORE AND THEY ACTUALLY GIVE SLIGHTLY BETTER TRACTION THAN THESE DO BUT I PREFER THE TREAD DESIGN BETTER SO I'LL STICK WITH THESE. PRICEY BUT WORTH IT.

Great tire on this car, for both the road and the track. I just got back from a very wet track weekend at Portland International Raceway, and these tires were one of very few brands/models that managed to handle both a very wet slick track and standing water without serious difficulty. I frankly was completely surprise by how well they worked in the wet with my Quattro system to allow very fast laps in really wet conditions.

I spent another weekend last month at Infineon on a very dry track, and they were responsive and communicated their intent very well.

They have also been comfortable on the road - not very noisy and no tramlining in the stud tracks on our wonderful freeways.

All in all a great tire and I'm glad to have spent the money for these tires.

...Wet traction ( full tread depth down to about 3/32's) is superb as well at anything under 90 mph in Florida rain and about 110 mph if there is no standing water on well draining roadways. Higher speeds get you hydroplaning, but then what are you doing driving that fast in the wet on a public road anyway?...

Insane dry traction with grip limits that are clearly signaled. Slides are easily controlled and feedback is clear. Understand that the limit of dry traction is high enough that if you break traction, you have overtly and aggressively sought to do so at speeds and/or lateral cornering forces far above anything..remotely sane for public road usage. Wet traction (full tread depth down to about 3/32's) is superb as well at anything under 90 mph in Florida rain and about 110 mph if there is no standing water on well draining roadways. Higher speeds get you hydroplaning, but then what are you doing driving that fast in the wet on a public road anyway?

Rears wore a bit more quickly than I expected for a 220 treadwear rating (20K), but Pilot Sport PS2's along with upgraded Tein springs transform Honda S2000 into delightful neutral handler with a slight oversteer tendency that is just fun to get crossed up on a slow corner exit (traction control "off" people) and then just explode away with full throttle since the PS2's laugh at only 225 rwhp (not a "stock" S2k) in a 255mm size.. Spooning on a new set in the next 30 days and this car has a 100 RWHP turbo upgrade in its future which is within the capabilities of the 255mm at full tread depth. This is the OEM tire on Z06, 911GT3 and certain Ferrari's for a reason.

...They are quiet and comfortable and corner like crazy. They totally smoothed the ride out and hang on for dear life...

These tires are awesome for street use. I have had plenty of R comppound (on other cars)tires and the OEM yokos on my EVO RS and I have to say they are unbelievable for a max dry summer tire. They are quiet and comfortable and corner like crazy. They totally smoothed the ride out and hang on for dear life. They probably arent that good at the track, but I would definitely recommend them for aggressive street driving. Makes the car much more livable. Also they cost $60 a tire less than the AO46s.

...These tires are sick at high speed handling...140+ and you feel glued to the road into EVERY turn...

This tire is the single best high performance tire your money will buy. I have a significantly modified M3 lowered with the stiffest suspension kit imaginable and I drive it the way it should be. These tires are sick at high speed handling...140+ and you feel glued to the road into EVERY turn...my tread wear has been unbelievable...I am just now replacing my rear tires 295/30/19 after 15,000+ hard core miles on them...I was pleasantly surprised they lasted this long. The fronts are in EXCELLENT shape...

I have run every high performace tire available and the PS2 is by far the best high performance tire on the market...

If you are serious about significantly improving your cars performance...then I strongly recommend this tire.

...Very comfortable on both long highway drives as well as around town...

A great daily driver tire. Lasts a long time and can still get decent time at the track. Ive both drag raced & auto crossed on this tire fairly successfully. It doesnt replace a soft compound tire for such competitive events but it is superior as a day-to-day tire. It handles water well and doesnt make too much noise. Very comfortable on both long highway drives as well as around town. I recommend them.

Comfort on the road (highway) and city is very good. Cornering on ramp curves is very acceptable with no side slipping or loss of control. Exiting off of ramp at 50 mph is in comfort zone without fear of skidding.

...The Michelins are quiet... I love these tires...

I have owned three Porsches. 2001 Boxster, 2004 carrera and a 911 turbo. When I purchased my turbo it had Pirellis. These were very noisy but the traction was very good (wet handling was okay but not great). The Michelins are quiet, exceptional in the wet (I drove down I95 at high speed in heavy rain without a hint of hydroplaning). I love these tires. I had also put them on my boxster and carrera where they performed perfectly. Expensive, but considering that your tires are the only thing touching the road you cannot go wrong.

...There are better tires for traction there are better tires for tread wear but this is the best combination of them.

I have had the PS2's for my last 3 sets of tires on two cars best all around tires I have ever bought. I also worked at a tire shop for 4 years so I know a thing or two about tires. There are better tires for traction there are better tires for tread wear but this is the best combination of them.

...So far treadwear has been good and they are very quiet...

I was happily surprised by the way the PS2s just kept holding the road. At the point I expected loud squealing into understeer, they just kept the car neutral and quiet. So far treadwear has been good and they are very quiet. I drove cross-country from CA to VA on them and they were perfect in conditions from 100 degrees in Arizona to driving rain across Tennessee. I recommend them 100% - they will be my summer tires for as long as theyre available.

...Great tire... These tires grip and carve! (No scrubbing.)...

540i 6-spd with Dinan Stage 2 suspension and strut braces. Great tire. For first time this car is very, very neutral. Great confidence and far higher cornering speeds. Great turn-in, perfectly balanced all through curves allowing course changes with throttle or wheel. Very stable emergency lane changes. Preservation of speed and energy through even tightest corners. These tires grip and carve! (No scrubbing.) For skiers - feels close to World Cup Giant Slalom racestock. Way better than Potenzas S-03 that were on it (uselesss after 8,000 mi.)which were only marginally better than S-02 before them which were better than OE Dunlop 2000e. Amazing how things improve. Michelin really did figure something out as evidenced by their domination of F1 this year.
