The Defender2 is Michelin's Standard Touring All-Season tire built for drivers of coupes, sedans, crossover, SUVs and minivans, looking for a dependable tire with reliable year-round traction. Defender2 tires are built to combine long, durable tread life with capable all-season performance in dry, wet and wintry conditions, even in light snow.
The all-season compound is molded into a symmetric tread design allowing for flexible rotation patterns, helping manage block wear and maintain a smooth, quiet ride. Interconnected tread elements minimize airborne noise and help ensure a stable footprint for predictable handing in dynamic maneuvers. Wide, circumferential grooves provide ample pass-through volume and channel water from generous lateral notches for enhanced hydroplaning resistance. Carefully integrated lateral and longitudinal sipes help provide biting edges and grip on slippery pavement for confidence in inclement weather and wintry roads.
Internal construction of the Defender2 consists of a single-ply casing with a high turn-up ply design to maintain durability while preserving ride comfort. Twin steel belts provide a robust foundation for the tread and are reinforced by a polyamide cap ply for stability at high speeds.

...And they had surprisingly better wet traction than I expected, they performed admirably on wet highways with light/moderate rain on a recent trip...
Replaced my summer performance tires (Sumitomo HTR Z III) with these.
These tires are comfortable and relatively quiet. And they had surprisingly better wet traction than I expected, they performed admirably on wet highways with light/moderate rain on a recent trip. I also liked the low rolling resistance and braking feel. Can't comment on snow yet.
Still, these tires lack road feel, and they lose composure including wobble while cornering. There is very little grip that can be felt.
My Accord went from being a semi sport sedan to a Camry. Which isn't necessarily bad, but there is no feedback to the driver.
My advice would be to get these if you value comfort above all, or are regularly hauling around a family or other people.
Otherwise, go with a performance tire. The benefits to the driver are tremendous when you have better grip.

This tire is excellent with good traction in California summer and wet condition. It was raining so heavily in the weather of CA recently I was driving and suddenly a car was cutting in front of me at 50mph on Huntington Dr on Alhambra CA, so quickly that i had to step brakes fast to avoid an accident, the tire is very responsive. This had my save life. It was raining more than 3 inches that day. Rotate and balance tire every 5,000 miles or 6000 miles and alignment to equalize tread wear. The ride is very quiet and stiff because of the compound to make the tire last longer , but a good trade off. Make sure your shocks and suspension components are in good to excellent condition. Speed rating 94H You can speed to 80mph without shaking

Most customers rate winter traction highly, with scores 7-10 for snow performance. While ice and deep snow show occasional lower ratings, the Primacy MXV4 delivers confident handling in light winter conditions as expected for all-season use.

...Quite simply, it responds to every situation a driver might ever face, even in severe winter driving.
I don't suppose anything is really perfect, but this Michelin tire is close enough to award it a 10. Quite simply, it responds to every situation a driver might ever face, even in severe winter driving. Noise is nonexistant and the comfort level at over 60,000 miles is still first class. I've never owned another tire and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one to anybody. It's that good.

...I have also had the opportunity to drive on these in rain, snow, & slush during two recent trips to Lake Tahoe. They are excellent in heavy rain and surpassed my expectations in light and heavy snow in mountain driving. Excellent traction and very predictable and steady during inclement weather driving scenarios...
Initial review for these tires with only 2k miles. I will provide another update on treadwear and performance down the road. My initial impression was the significant inprovement in ride comfort. LR2s come equipped with Continental CrossContact UHP street tires performance tires. Not the best ride, treadwear or wet performance. So it was immediately noticeable once riding on the MXV4s. I have also had the opportunity to drive on these in rain, snow, & slush druning two recent trips to Lake Tahoe. They are excellent in heavy rain and surpassed my expectations in light and heavy snow in mountain driving. Excellent traction and very predictable and steady during inclement weather driving scenarios. I highley recommend these tires for Land Rover LR2s owners even though they do not match the OEM speed rating guidelines. But I doubt very few people are ever driving their LR2 above 118 mph. Not sure what Land Rover was thinking.

Researched tires for a long time. Finally decided on these mainly for the tread design and maker reputation. Only had tires a short time but got to test immediatedly in sloopy weather conditions. Day after install we got a Colorado snow and ice storm. Very happy with there response in braking, starting and cornering. I purchsed these for snow and ice conditions and they proved to be excellent. Can't speak for other factors at present, but in winter driving conditions they are outstanding. Enjoy the low noise, ride and handling characteristics already. I think I may be falling in love!

...Way better control for regular spirited driving. Really nice center feel and stability. Very linear tire that has excellent dry grip...
I originally purchased the Pirelli Pzero A/S. It had fast steering but was a bit twitchy as well as a somewhat bumpy ride. The noise wasn't bad but wasn't good either. I will say this though, really nice tire for high speed curves.
I returned those and bought the Michelin MXV4's. Way better control for regular spirited driving. Really nice center feel and stability. Very linear tire that has excellent dry grip. A little more subdued compared to the Pirelli's but also better control. Way better ride quality as well as quieter. Unless you're racing, a better overall tire by a fair margin than the Pirellis. In my honest opinion, this is the best tire for a luxury sport vehicle. Civilized but still fun. Cheap in the long run since you get 60,000 miles. Combined with a $70 rebate and you can't go wrong. Buy this tire!!!

...Very smooth, quiet, absorbs bumps very well and gives me a good mpg! ... I switched to this tire and noise levels have definitely gone down (although not completely eliminated as Mazda3s are known for their noisy cabins)...
This is truly an excellent tire. Very smooth, quiet, absorbs bumps very well and gives me a good mpg! My previous tire: the General Altimax HP was junk, in the sense that it produced so much noise (especially high pitch) that I could no longer bear it. I switched to this tire and noise levels have definitely gone down (although not completely eliminated as Mazda3s are known for their noisy cabins). The tire is very responsive to steering and doesn't seem to show a single sign of wear after 7000 miles :). Will update this review later.

quiet, sporty, responsive, sharper handling, comfortable, all-round performer. Best bang for $. worth the extra money and they have a no frills warranty, if anything goes wrong, they will immediately make it right. My entire family is running on michelins right now (4 cars). I got rid of the eagle GTs I had and these are far superior to those.

Replaced OEM Yokohama Geolanders which wore out at 30K. The Michelins are much quieter, ride better, and grip much better in the dry, wet, and snow than the Yokos did, even when new. I almost can't provoke a slide in the wet or snow. Driving in 4" of unplowed snow was a non-event. These tires do seem to flat-spot overnight, which resolves after 4-5 miles and has improved. Also, I note a slight vibration at speed which may be a balancing issue. I've noticed a lack of on-center feel and the turn-in seems a little less crisp than the Yokos.

This has been a very impressive tire. I still have them on my car and have over 80K on them. The sidewalls are very strong. I didn't have to do hardly any maintenance of these tires and they still seem to be very true. I am looking at buying a new set of tires and these are on the top of the list. these tires definitely were the best rated option overall when I needed to replace the factory installed tires at around 73,000. I'm now at @ 76,000 and I'm not happy with these tires.
