The Advantage Control is BFGoodrich's Grand Touring All-Season tire for drivers of coupes, sedans, crossovers and SUVs looking confident control along with a comfortable ride, long tread life and capable all-season traction, even in light snow.
The Advantage Control features an advanced, silica-rich, all-season tread compound molded into a touring-focused, symmetric tread design. The carefully engineered pattern architecture is designed to lower tread noise for a quiet and comfortable ride. A computer-optimized footprint manages contact patch forces, promoting longer and more consistent tread wear. Next Generation g-Wedge Sidewall Stabilizers reinforce the sidewall to retain crisp handling and responsive steering inputs. Wide, circumferential grooves combine with generous lateral notches that feature Aqua-Flume Technology, leveraging a curvilinear groove network to accelerate and disperse water from the contact patch, helping improve hydroplaning resistance and wet weather stability. Active Sipe Technology and full depth tread features are built into the tread blocks for consistent wet and wintry weather performance throughout the tire's life.
The internal construction of the Advantage Control consists of two-ply polyester casing focused on providing durability and comfort. Twin, robust steel belts support the tread package and combine with a single nylon reinforcement for reliability and high-speed capabilities.

Huge improvement over the stock all-seasons in terms of wet, snow/slush, and ice...
Huge improvement over the stock all-seasons in terms of wet, snow/slush, and ice. The ability to unlock the AWD performance is very reassuring when your tires actually chew through the snow. I have had 3 sets of Michelin X-ice on my car, so when my wife got her SUV this was a no-brainer. Over 5000 miles of pure confidence. Her first reaction to encountering a major winter storm (about 16 inches of snow) was to tell me, "MY CAR IS A TANK". We cannot overstate the importance of winter/snow tires where we live and compared to other winter tires Michelin is truly the only choice. Maybe it's the active noise cancellation, but there was no additional noise, vibration, or harshness from switching to these tires. Compared to an all-season on dry roads, the winter tire does have a tiny amount of "squirm", but on-center feel is great and the car tracks straight. There is no tramlining. You feel the tire load up under hard acceleration and breaking (and obviously hard cornering), but it is all very predictable. You only notice these driving characteristics for the first few drives after swapping from all-seasons, and you quickly learn the benefits once it snows!

...The Michelins are quiet and good handling in dry and wet conditions!...
Very happy with our winter tires and wheels! The new wheels have a tad more offset than the stock wheels, but are still under the fenders! The Michelins are quiet and good handling in dry and wet conditions! Thinking they will do fine if we get some ice and snow this winter!

...They're light snow 3"-5" performance is fantastic... It goes wherever you point it... No slipping or sliding & no wheel spin whatsoever...
Great tires! Live near Aspen, CO put them on a Land Rover Defender… Only have about a 1000 miles on them so far but have been very impressed. They’re light snow 3”-5” performance is fantastic… It goes wherever you point it… No slipping or sliding & no wheel spin whatsoever… Only had them in snow over 8” one time and they were great. Stopping on ice… No problem! I’ve had Blizzak’s before (different truck) and I believe these are even better. If they hold up well I’ll definitely buy them again.

...I drove through multiple 12+ inch blizzards this winter and was passing all the lifted jeeps and trucks everywhere I went...
this is a real review coming from someone who has used nokian, blizzaks, and other premier winter tires before and never once let the winter dictate when and where I need to go (as an avid skier). you get what you pay for, an incredible winter tire! I have had 8 different winter tires over the years on many different vehicles. these are some of the best hands down. I have put nearly 14K miles on them over one winter and they are quiet, comfortable, and handle everything winter can throw at them. after many miles they have only worn about 2.5/32nds so I feel they will easily go another 15K miles if not more before even thinking about replacing. on a heavy AWD Audi Q7 (275/45/20) SUV they are unstoppable. as expected they have a soft tread and are a full blown winter snow tire so they don't handle like an all-season or summer tire at higher speeds, but they never induced any panic. I drove through multiple 12+ inch blizzards this winter and was passing all the lifted jeeps and trucks everywhere I went. thanks Michelin and tirerack for an awesome tire that exceeded my expectations and seems like it will last for multiple seasons.

These are quite possibly the best performing winter tire I have ever experienced. As soon the snow started to fly, we took the car out for a drive on empty back-country roads. First, I tried a hard stop from 35 mph. The tires gripped the snow and ice so well. Then I turned of stability control and tried to get the back end to come about. Again, the tires were much grippier than I could have imagined. I couldn't believe how much more quiet the rig was coming off the all-weather tires. I have been transitioning to Michellin tires on all our rigs. They tend to cost more, but to me, they are worth every penny.

...Traction in the wet and dry is greathydroplaning is non existent at any speed and snow and ice traction is incredible...
I am a firm believer of a designated winter tire and on my cars I would choose a stud less snow tire over a performance winter tire, gladly give up handling for traction. Now that I switched to a SUV with 20" wheels the choices were limited. When I changed the original wheels with Pirelli's P zero performance summer only tires I immediately noticed the noise difference these runs so quietly compare to the almost new Pirelli's that I can't wait to replace them. Traction in the wet and dry is great hydroplaning is non existent at any speed and snow and ice traction is incredible, drove my car through 2 feet of snow without any problems (once back on a treated road I had a balance problem due to the snow build up inside the wheel) but my car plowed through that snow without an issue. On my cars (Audi A6 Quattro and S4) I usually had Bridgestone Blizzak, I honestly think these perform better. The rubber is pretty soft and pliable so steering response suffers, don't need that when roads are slick. When my wife's Audi Q5's Blizzaks DMV need replacing these Michelins are the tire of choice. Not a big one for doing reviews or surveys, but these definitely deserve 10 stars on a 5 star scale

I haven't had the opportunity to use them in snow or freezing rain yet. Boy are these tires QUIET and a very comfortable ride. They are better than the ix 2 and 3's I have used both. Looking forward to the ice and snow runs.

...Comfortable ride, low noise, good in light snow and rain...
Haven’t had the tires long enough to give an educated review. So far (1500 miles), the tires have been great. Comfortable ride, low noise, good in light snow and rain. My car handles almost as well as with the original all season tires.

...The ride is silky smooth and these tires are also super quiet...
Wow, the Michelin X-Ice Snow is the best tire I ever experienced! I'm using these as my winter tires for ski trips, but I'm almost tempted to leave them on during the summer too. The handling on winding mountain roads seems better than my Michelin LTX summer tires. The ride is silky smooth and these tires are also super quiet. The snow and ice grip is excellent. And the performance in heavy rain is also top notch, I tested it on wet roads by slamming on the brakes and the soft rubber compound would not skid, it stopped very quick. The only downside may be the faster tread wear. Michelin did some amazing engineering with this new tire.

30,000 miles on these tires, worn year-round on a Tesla Y on -1" wheels from tirerack. I expected much more wear through the summer with a heavy car, pleasantly surprised at the slow wear. These add a bit of noise and slower and plusher handling compared to stock. I'll replace these with an identical pair and keep wearing this tire/wheel combo year-round.

...When I first mounted the Ice-X I was impressed with the ride, handling and lack of dry road noise... Now if they wear for at least 30k of useful life then they are golden.
I bought the Ice-X with the thought that Winter driving would be a better experience with them and that I would not lose too much dry road capability, and this has definitely been the case. My Odyssey is a work horse. Purchased new it has served on several sets of all season tires until now, but we recently acquired a vacation home near the Canadian border and a half worn set of all seasons are not the ticket for making that journey in Winter. When I first mounted the Ice-X I was impressed with the ride , handling and lack of dry road noise, but when I got a chance to push them a bit in snow they really showed their best, holding a nice even drift line in several inches of powder without the slightest twitch . They also are solid going through slush and mush at high speed on the interstate. Now if they wear for at least 30k of useful life then they are golden.
