The Scorpion AS Plus 3 is Pirelli's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, SUVs and pickup trucks who want a smooth and comfortable ride with all-season confidence designed to go the extra mile, mile after mile. Specifically built for North American drivers, the Scorpion AS Plus 3 focuses on increased ride and noise comfort and longer tread life along with consistent traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, including light snow.
Utilizing functionalized polymers, the advanced tread compound is designed to generate higher levels of traction and provide longer mileage than previous-generation tires. The carefully engineered, asymmetric tread pattern features minimized void space for maximum contact with the road surface to increase overall grip and improve wear characteristics. Larger, sequence-tuned shoulder blocks help improve dry handling while minimizing tread noise, and the optimized mold profile helps further distribute forces for even wear and enhanced wet performance. Evenly distributed grooves and channels are designed to work in unison for predictable wet performance and hydroplaning resistance. The Scorpion AS Plus 3 employs a variety of full-depth and 3D sipes focused on retaining slippery and inclement weather traction throughout the tire's life. Horizontal 3D sipes combine with vertical sipes in the shoulders for increased biting edges while retaining good clear road handling characteristics. Zig-Zag and deep sipes on the inboard tread blocks offer consistent traction as the tire wears through wet conditions and in snow and on ice.
The internal construction of the Scorpion AS Plus 3 consists of a two-ply polyester casing designed to blend handling with comfortable road manners. Robustness and high-speed stability are ensured by twin steel belts which are reinforced by two polyamide cap plies.

All-Season vs. All-Weather Tires: What’s the Best Touring Tire for Premium CUVs? – 2024 Test 2 – With Winter Update(22:11)
We’ve tested Touring All-Season tires before, but never like this! Eight Touring tires, the best of the best, both 3PMSF branded [all-weather] and traditional all-season options, take to the street and the track to see how they stack up. Using our new Alfa Romeo Stelvio to represent the popular CUV segment, TJ and Brent put these eight contenders through the paces on the road, on the track, and in the winter elements to get a read on what to consider when comparing all-weather vs. all-season tires.
User feedback reveals the Nitto Ridge Grappler excels in dry traction (9-10 ratings) and wet performance, with strong hydroplaning resistance. Winter traction shows split results: many praise snow capability, but ice performance draws mixed scores (3-10 range), suggesting variability in harsh conditions. Treadwear receives outstanding marks (9-10), appealing for rugged use. Ride comfort earns high praise, though some note moderate road noise. As a rugged all-terrain tire, it delivers robust on- and off-road performance where intended, with durability being a standout trait.

...The absolute best tire I've ever had for highway wet road usage...
Tires were new with my 2021 Tundra 4WD Truck purchase (Nov 2020). Nearly 60k driven to date. The absolute best tire I've ever had for highway wet road usage. You will hear the road roar; this has advantages especially when it comes to scaring off deer. Handles very well on dirt and gravel roads. Haven't experienced snow or ice, but would expect solid performance.

I used to cringe when I had to drive on wet roads, not anymore. These Nitto tires don't spin at all when taking off from a stop. I can force a spin, but that is on me...
I can only compare them to the Wranglers. These are a big improvement. The first thing I noticed is how much quieter they are. They are by no means street tire quiet, but you won't have to crank the stereo up to drown out the noise as was required with the Wranglers. You will still get bounced around with the big bumps, but they handle typical road imperfections very well. Handling is about the same as the Wranglers, which is to say very good. Here is the night and day difference: wet roads. I used to cringe when I had to drive on wet roads, not anymore. These Nitto tires don't spin at all when taking off from a stop. I can force a spin, but that is on me. The safety factor alone, being able to drive with confidence on wet roads, made this purchase worthwhile.

Most customers rate snow and deep snow traction highly with scores 8-10, highlighting reliable grip. Ice traction shows more variability, with some ratings 5-8 indicating adequate performance in rugged all-terrain conditions.

...Dry traction: no complaints at all. Excellent performer. I live where the highways have lots of curves and I have no qualms with taking curves at 10-15 MPH over the posted recommendation...
I decided my review of the Nitto Ridge Grappler would wait until I've seen them through their lifespan. After 40,000+ miles, it's time. Overall, this is a really good tire. Would I buy them again? Yes, if I lived in a warmer, drier climate. Any hang-ups I have with the Ridge Grappler are probably as much about the Tundra's rear-end torque in 2WD as anything to do with the tire. I don't care about ride quality because...it's a truck. The ride was noticeably more stiff than the OEM tires, but you're moving up to Load Range E on a 1/2T truck. Road noise? That's what SiriusXM is for. Now for the Nitty gritty... Dry traction: no complaints at all. Excellent performer. I live where the highways have lots of curves and I have no qualms with taking curves at 10-15 MPH over the posted recommendation. From brake to Wide Open Throttle there are occasionally some chirps, and there are short breaks in traction over the painted Stop lines at an intersection, but acceleration is confident, reliable, and predictable. Hard braking is just as confident. Wet traction: under normal highway driving, performance is what you'd expect. Never had any problems in the curves. Acceleration, however...the light rear end and heavy torque makes wet acceleration interesting. Even at 40 MPH, throttling up for on-ramps on the interstate can get a little squirrelly when the truck downshifts to gain speed. Hard braking on wet pavement is better than the acceleration, but there's more weight in the front. Snow traction: again, under normal driving on snow-covered roads, performance is satisfactory. There is a bit more understeer if you're in 2WD, and 2WD acceleration can be a challenge - even light acceleration from full-stop. 4WD in the snow feels like you could go nearly anywhere, even on hard packed snow. Off-road: Dry or mud, compared to Courser A/T (2 or 3), BFG A/T3, and General Grabbers, one of the best of any tires I've had on any truck.

...This is a super quite A/T tire despite its aggressive look. They ride really nice on the highway and are great on my farm: wet pasture, muddy rutted roads...
Stock Nittos terra grapler were ready to be replaced at 45k and was looking for something similar. Found Ridge Grapplers on sale for 166 each. Was sorta concerned about comments about road noise and wet traction. This is a super quite A/T tire despite its aggressive look. They ride really nice on the highway and are great on my farm: wet pasture, muddy rutted roads. I've done nothing in heavy mud, sand, or rock crawling. I've had zero wet traction issues, zero hydroplaning even in heavy weather. Not sure why these other buyers were experiencing these issues. Possibly tire/ lighter vehicle weight issue, ? I just rotated them at 5K, tire store says all A/Ts tend to cup. My stock Nitto's cupped at little but were still in decent shape at 45K just a little dry rot on sidewalls, Florida sun.?

...Customers report impressive treadwear performance: "Had these installed with around 1800ish miles on the Jeep; and traded that Jeep off with 54k to 55k miles and same tires. Dealership thought maybe they had 20k miles on them... Before I had traded it off last measurement for tread depth was 11/32 to 13/32(I believe the 13/32 was the tire I had replaced due to a sidewall puncture)."...
In the past I usually stuck to BFG, Goodyear, Cooper, or Mickey Thompson. However, with this Jeep being new off the lot; I decided to try something new that seemed to have great reviews. I wanted something that was semi-aggressive, but would handle highway travel well, and be quiet too.
Had these installed with around 1800ish miles on the Jeep; and traded that Jeep off with 54k to 55k miles and same tires. Dealership thought maybe they had 20k miles on them. It was a Jeep so I had all 5 and did 5 tire rotations every 3500-4500 miles. Before I had traded it off last measurement for tread depth was 11/32 to 13/32(I believe the 13/32 was the tire I had replaced due to a sidewall puncture). I road tripped this Jeep to off road areas and then aired down and would air back up afterwards. Then drive it home. The Ridge Grapplers out performed what I could have ever imagined them doing. From the Midwest to out West they were flawless in all types of terrain.
I could see maybe in the South clay muds might give them some issue, but I didn’t get to test them in that type of terrain. I understand the Jeep is a lighter vehicle which probably helped contribute to their long wear life. As any off-road tire they did start to develop a tad bit of noise, but I had a lot of miles on these. With that being said I’d buy these again in a heartbeat.

These tires have been great, they've lasted 80k miles of hard driving and im still at about 4/32 . Only gripe is a little road noise as they have worn(I'm used to it) and loss of traction in some moderate snow. Overall snow driving was good going up highway 80 but it did get squirrelly on occasion. All other conditions have been to my satisfaction. Just Wish they weren't pricey but hey they large tires. I did lose about 7mpg but again to be expected with larger heavy off road tires. I would definitely purchase again if it's in the budget.
