Riken Raptor VR 

These tires are definitely your best bang for your buck in this price range. Great tires if you need something quick and cheap while you save up for something better. My car is reasonably quick with a manual transmission, 0-60 5.7 Stock. I've noticed that wet traction is below average and will require a bit more driver skill but it's not unpredictable. Back road bashing has been great in the summer and winter (No Snow, just cold sub 30). It also has great snow traction. I've driven in deep snow on a gravel road with no issues surprisingly. Tread life is okay at roughly 50% after 12k miles. Road noise is okay on the tarmac but horrible on concrete. If you live in a place like Florida with a lot of concrete roads good luck to your ears.

I'll be upgrading to Continental DWS 06 Plus roughly next month as I've upgraded my suspension components. Also, I'll be throwing on some bolt-ons with a tune pretty soon and want a true performance tire to put the power down while retaining some comfort. This car is still my daily after all.

TLDR: Solid budget tire. Great snow/winter and summer performance, Mediocre wet performance. Low noise on the tarmac at low and high speeds. Very annoying on concrete roads regardless of speed. Personally upgrading to Conti's DWS06+ because my car is being upgraded and tuned.

I bought these tires for the Spring/Summer months and instantly got 2-4 mpg back from my winter tires. The day I put these on my car I drove over a 1000 miles on a trip and half of it was in the rain. I had absolutely no issue at all with drifting lane to lane or even cornering hard.
I tried a couple times to lose traction on quick turns and they stayed put. You do feel the road a bit more being a sort of stiff tire but it handles good. I do more than my fair share of gravel/dirt road driving and it holds up to the beating well. They are infinitely quieter than my Bridgestone Blizzaks ,so I can't complain. They look good on the car as well.

So the tires aren't really all that bad. Good cheap tire. Will get the average driver where they need to go. If I had more money I would have gone with Toyo Tires for the application but at the time I didn't have the money for them. Still these have worked pretty well. Under hard acceleration they slip a little more than my last tires but they hold better in the rain. If I remember I will update about the snow on these but so far its been a pretty usual summer for PA driving. They ride a bit hard but not enough to make me hate them and considering my car type I quite honest about the ride quality of tires. Overall I would personally give these a 7 - 7.5. Not bad for the money. Decent quality.

In my climate area I have to run snow tires from Oct through May. These tires are excellent for wear and winter traction.

I'm happy with this tire. It works well in summer and winter conditions. Our mountain roads eat tires quickly and these have already lasted longer than the OEM tires. I expect to get another 6 months and probably 10k miles out of them.

I bought these tires in July 2024. A year later and these tires are still great. I live in the snow belt of Northeast Ohio and drove through the craziest of storms. These tires exceeded my expectations 🤩!!!! I drove through 6+ inches of snow flawlessly throughout the winter. These tires are extremely affordable and are amazing for crappy weather.

I was looking for an inexpensive tire for a high mileage SUV. I have about 5,000 miles on the Riken's now. The tire is quiet and comfortable and show no real wear after 5K. My experience with highway driving is mostly good but for some wander near 70mph that requires some minimal input corrections. I try to keep the vehicle under 80 on the hghway.

Where these tires excel though is as an everyday driver, tooling around town rarely exceeding 60 mph. They do everything on a good to very good level. More than adequate in dry conditions and wet weather. Braking is very good. Just don't hustle them over 65 to 70mph. They're not a performance tire and they slip on ice. I've had no real snow experience with them.

Mountain driving. No, an understatement as it is nothing short of crazy "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" mountain driving, summer and winter, coming from flatland Florida. Was spinning out on hairpin turns before, got these tires and that simply stopped on the proverbial "dime". I've been a Tire Rack customer for decades and so appreciate your service and particularly your educational aspect as I otherwise don't know a thing about tires. Yes I recommend these and your company to anyone who listens.

Great tires at a great price. Tires handle great in all weather I am very happy with the tires.

I originally had Goodyear Eagles on the car. They were a stiff, bumpy ride. These are way more comfortable and less noisy. And I believe I am getting a mile or two better gas mileage. Great tire. Highly recommended.

Replaced a set of Bridgestone RFT on my Cayenne and it is a world of difference in the comfort of the ride. I originally thought it was the air suspension that causes such a harsh ride but when I switched out the tires to these it felt like a totally different car. Handling returned and you could feel the tires in the corners whereas the Bridgstones felt like you were riding on stones. Not bad for the price let's just see how long they last.

I bought a 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS with only 37,000 miles on it. It still had the original Goodyears on it that were manufactured in 2008. Although the tread was still basically ok, they were really hard. I wanted new tires but didn't want to spend $600 plus on tires. I took a chance on these Riken Raptors and I'm really happy with them. They are a soft tire and that's what I wanted, since the Outlander does ride rather hard. I only have 400 miles on the set, but they're exactly what I wanted. Traction seems great and road noise is minimal.
No snow here in Charlotte, so I don't need to consider winter traction. Only complaint is on the highway, they can feel kind of vague in steering response. Seems like I wander a bit in the lane, but overall, very pleased so far.

First off, I bought these tires because of their price point and because I am cheap. I never in a million years expected my wife to get 55,000 or more miles out of them. I will definitely buy them again!

A year into this set of tires yields to a couple of issues, the first tire I hit a piece of metal and the tire got a hole and had to replace, the second and more concerning is the rear tire now has a bulge in the sidewall, no idea how it happened but it’s there . It looks like maybe an internal band may have broken or something like that, I’m replacing it as well, the price is good, the tires are wearing well, but I’m concerned about the quality long term.

Good tires that last little longer then other expensive tires.
