Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The Encounter HT2 is Sumitomo's Highway All-Season tire for drivers of pickups, SUVs, crossovers and full-sized vans looking for dependable year-round traction with a smooth, quiet ride. Built to balance the needs of the daily commute with the cross-country trip, the Encounter HT2 is engineered to deliver traction for dry, wet and wintry driving conditions, even in light snow.

The all-season compound is molded into an optimized, symmetric tread design built to provide simple rotation options, even tread wear and stable dry, dynamic handling traits. Smooth, curved shoulder grooves help trap airborne noise in the pattern for a quiet, comfortable ride. Wide, interconnected circumferential grooves help channel water from the footprint for enhanced hydroplaning resistance and confidence in inclement weather. Wave-shaped lateral sipes integrated into the robust tread blocks help create stable, biting edges for traction on wet and wintry roads.

Internal construction of the Encounter HT2 features a two-ply polyester casing with a reinforced bead apex designed to increase durability and control in high-load conditions. High-strength, twin steel belts are covered by a full-width, jointless polyamide cap ply for high-speed stability.

...A month after buying the PO3's a quick snow storm came up that weather men didn't forecast. the salt crews didn't have time to pretreat or treat. these tires got there first test for me. about 2.5 inches of wet snow on road and uphill and curvy . I could not believe how good they did. I had to stop for other cars that could not go any further up hill, and from a dead stop I went around them with no problem at all...

my previous tires were the HTR A/S PO2,they were a good tire but didn't drive on any snow. Got 35000 miles and needed new ones so I got the PO3. I drive on curvy hilly two lane road at 40mph and flat roads at 55 . these tires handle great on a 04 civic . ...Even still, they got me thru the white fluffy stuff towing up n over Sierras, Rockies n thru Plains with not 1 issue whatsoever...

May be lengthy. So my previous was P02, since on a budget from going big brakes. By far my waggie is NOT a pavement princess and it's more set up for rally runs with occasion air time. I wore those down to minimum over 40k ish miles, no issues, wore out as expected from happy alignment. Time for new ones n saw there's P03 now. ---- skippy I reuped a set. The latest versions still haven't broke loose yet on twisties, but will have to get at least 2 new since I cupped the rears towing way more than was supposed to. Even still, they got me thru the white fluffy stuff towing up n over Sierras, Rockies n thru Plains with not 1 issue whatsoever. Granted I'm AWD, have oversized brakes and a manual. Off-roading has never failed me yet, tho I don't do rock climbing or super dooper mudding. On good service roads the slide is VERY predictable and consistent. Same on wet roads, I've really gotta be pushing it for em to break. With all this said, my clutch doesn't like me dumping it cuz my gears are too tall to make em break dry and snow, and full-time mechanical viscous AWD doesn't help either. So of course later I threw in LSDs on all 3 diffs and holy crap I'm gonna have to do way more beefying up suspension, cuz she's now asking n tormenting me to push it more. I may just give in to her wishes. Can't wait for snownut season now.

...While not transformational the improvement in wet and dry performance is notable... Dry handling has reached a point where available grip exceeds my ability to exploit it...

These were purchased to replace the OE spec Goodyear Eagle RSA which I was actually quite satisfied with. Put a set of the Sumitomo on my wife’s Honda Fit and they were fantastic, so decided to try them on the Civic. While not transformational the improvement in wet and dry performance is notable. The car simply refuses to hydroplane in normal use, regardless of how much water is in the roadway. Dry handling has reached a point where available grip exceeds my ability (nerve) to exploit it. The fact that they are going strong at 25k is icing on the cake. Strongly recommend these tires!

I’m fairly impressed for the price. Slightly on the hard side so they occasionally spin slightly upon hard acceleration, but soft enough it won’t be a thing for most people. Grip and ride comfort all good. My only concern is that the dealer told me they’ll need to be replaced soon. I’ve had them for a year. Really!? Maybe I need to see about getting them warrantied if it exists. Otherwise very satisfied.

...They are much smoother and much more comfortable and I believe I get better gas mileage...

Like I said when I first purchased these tires, they are much better than the original. They are much smoother and much more comfortable and I believe I get better gas mileage. I did pick up a nail the other day and got that repaired right away with no damage to the tire. Once repaired, the tires continued to perform with the same level of comfort, safety, and reliability as before. They grip well during acceleration and breaking. They corner well even at 45mph without losing traction. During rain, I am a little more cautious but again, they perform admirably. I would definitely purchase these tires again.

...Treadwear is excellent...

The Sumitomo tire offers good performance and value in the 2020 Honda Insight fitment. Ride characteristics are very good but sidewall compliance seems high - would not recommend for spirited driving in this size. Treadwear is excellent. Drivers looking for the highest gas mileage for their hybrid or electric car may want to look at a different tire.

Great value for the type of tire. Approximately 6000 miles per 1/32nd of tread wear. I would highly recommend a winter set of snow tires and wheels for drivers in the winter snow areas. Two complete sets for seasonal use will be equal to the wear and durability of three sets of tires!
