AltiMAX RT45 is a versatile Grand Touring All-Season tire for sedans, coupes, and CUVs, developed for drivers seeking a balance of all-season handling, comfort, and longevity. The AltiMAX RT45 offers confident dry and wet performance as well as satisfying light snow traction.

The General AltiMAX RT45 tire's all-season compound is molded into a symmetric tread pattern featuring robust interlocking tread blocks for reliable handling and satisfying dry grip. Four circumferential grooves evacuate water to promote wet weather traction and hydroplaning resistance. Lateral voids, shoulder slots, and sipes across the footprint create additional biting edges for improved traction in slippery conditions. The AltiMAX RT45 also comes equipped with technology to visually alert drivers of wear issues. Visual Alignment Indicators (VAI) on the shoulder blocks wear off evenly to indicate proper alignment. Uneven wear warns the driver of alignment issues. A Replacement Tire Monitor (RTM), imprinted into the AltiMAX RT45 center rib wears to read, "REPLACE TIRE" when change is needed.

The General AltiMAX RT45 internal construction consists of two steel belts atop a polyester casing. A polyamide reinforcement ply further stabilizes the tread to provide high-speed handling and durability.

...Great overall traction, long lasting and terrific in wet conditions...

I had my reservations about the purchase of this tire however I went on the recommendation of the TireRack agent. I like these tires very much. They are a solid choice. Great overall traction, long lasting and terrific in wet conditions. I'm glad I listened to the agent.

I drove on actual snow tires for two winters, and these do as well... I have driven in snow deep enough that my air dam was plowing snow and they worked just fine...

I drive my Olds year round in North Central Minnesota and have no issues. I drove on actual snow tires for two winters, and these do as well. I have no ABS or traction control and live on a dead end gravel township road. I have driven in snow deep enough that my air dam was plowing snow and they worked just fine.I have just purchased two more, so I have had two full sets on my Ciera.

...I think the tire is excellent in rain conditions for handling and response, really no difference in my opinion in comparison to dry handling in my SUV. Never been in a condition that felt like the tire wasn't holding the road...

The RT45 were a new release model and I like the tread look for a good all seasons. I was correct having almost 40k miles on them in Michigan, with a mix from dirt roads to highway to the city, the current tread depth is on point to hit 75k miles on them. I still use a snow/tire package for the winter driving but I won't swap until snow season is in full, and the RT45 has been very impressive for a all season tire in winter mix conditions where anything goes. I think the tire is excellent in rain conditions for handling and response, really no difference in my opinion in comparison to dry handling in my SUV. Never been in a condition that felt like the tire wasn't holding the road. I would recommend them to anyone.

This tire is underrated by TireRack in the categories of noise and comfort.

I am glad that my local garage recommended them to me. These are the quietest tires I have EVER owned. I also bought a set for our 2012 Sienna van and was equally pleased with the quietness.

I would say that General nailed the quietness formula, and every other tire manufacturer can learn from them.

Car audio enthusiasts can really benefit from these tires. They are like an instant audio upgrade to anyone’s system.

I have experienced about half a dozen occurrences of momentary loss of traction in the front tires starting a turn. For this reason I would not recommend them as Ultra High Performance tires - but I enthusiastically recommend them for their comfort and performance in the vast majority of driving that most people do each year.

The road noise is pleasantly quiet and the ride is comfortable...

The Altimax are pretty good value for the price - I had the previous version on two different cars and never had any issues with traction in rain or snow, and so far the updated RT45 has performed well, although I haven't had much chance to test them in severe weather. The road noise is pleasantly quiet and the ride is comfortable.

That said - I don't think I can recommend buying from General Tire. I earned a rebate with this purchase. The rebate card was apparently returned as undeliverable (even though I confirmed with the company multiple times that they had my correct address on file). Resolving that took 4 calls and a half-dozen emails across 2 separate customer service departments and over two months of waiting. When the card was finally delivered, they charged me a 10% "replacement fee" despite never having gotten me my rebate in the first place.
