The Aklimate is Falken's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans, crossovers, and SUVs looking for confident performance in any season. Conceived as an all-weather, one-tire solution for environments that experience all four seasons but don't receive enough snow or ice to need a dedicated winter tire; Aklimate tires meet industry severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Falken Aklimate callouts

The Aklimate features a specially developed all-season compound molded into an asymmetric tread pattern to provide optimal traction in a myriad of conditions. Large shoulder blocks generate sure-footed dry cornering, with lateral notches to evacuate water when the situation calls for dynamic handling. Four wide circumferential grooves provide hydroplaning resistance in conjunction with the generous siping. 3D Canyon Groove Technology provides enhanced grip in slush and snow.

Internal construction of the Aklimate features a single-ply polyester casting supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement is added for enhanced high-speed stability and performance.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...Wet traction is phenomenal compared to the OEM tires they replaced... They are a bit noisier than the OEM tires and I am down about 1-2 mpg on the highway, but I'll take that given the superior handling in wet conditions.

So far these tires have been fantastic. Wet traction is phenomenal compared to the OEM tires they replaced. I haven't had a chance to use them in any amount of snow or ice yet. They are a bit noisier than the OEM tires and I am down about 1-2 mpg on the highway, but I'll take that given the superior handling in wet conditions.

I've driven 75mph in pouring rain, very very little hydroplaning...

I’ve had these tires for about a month, 5000k miles (yes I drive alot for work.) which is my biggest thing when looking for tires, good budget friendly but also a nice quality tire. This tire is amazing so far, I’ve driven 75mph in pouring rain, very very little hydroplaning. I live in WV so we can a true all 4 seasons, yet to see any deep snow/ice much but I’m sure they’ll do great, they ride very smooth and are pretty quiet. Tire wear so far looks great and I think these will last a long time for me, I drive give or take (different every year) somewhere between 30-45k miles a year. And I think these will last that easily with good rotation. Will most likely buy these again next time I’m due. Very good tire for the price so far.

Bought a set of these after the impressive performance of the Falken Wildpeaks on my Wife's AWD Sienna. I went with the Aklimate because my FWD Equinox is absolutely AWFUL in the snow up here during our Michigan winters. I cannot describe how impressed I am with the snow performance of these tires. 7" snowfall as they were being installed and as I pulled out they immediately were tested. 200% improvement in my traction and handling in the snow. Cannot recommend enough.

...These were quite impressive in the snow which was handy for the bad snowstorms I drove in last year...

I bought these wanting a severe snow service rated tire, but not having to shell out a lot money for them. These were quite impressive in the snow which was handy for the bad snowstorms I drove in last year. Dry and wet traction were pretty decent. The one thing I will note is that after about 15,000 miles the tires starting becoming a little bit louder. Overall, they're pretty decent with some enhanced winter capabilities without paying a fortune.

...Tires cut right through the snow. Obviously the car isn't made for off road, but on road + snow with these tires you're fine.

I needed a tire that could be depended on during heavy snow. In West Michigan we regularly get a foot of snow at a time.
Most people think they need 4wd for that type of snow. Nope, just limited slip diff and good tires, and know how to drive a rear wheel sedan.

...While they dominate in snow, they also perform well on dry roads. Whether I'm cruising on the highway or maneuvering around Buffalo's city streets, these tires provide a smooth, quiet ride...

When I started looking for tires for my commercial van, I originally wanted the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails. However, my van required heavy-duty commercial-rated tires, so I opted for the Falken Aklimate instead. Let me tell you—this was the best decision I could have made!

Living in Buffalo, New York, means dealing with harsh winters and relentless lake-effect snow. For those who aren’t familiar, lake-effect snow can dump several feet of heavy, wet snow in a single storm. It creates some of the most challenging driving conditions imaginable. Luckily, the Falken Aklimate tires are up to the task.

These tires come with the coveted Severe Snow Service (3PMSF) rating, and they absolutely live up to it. During our first big storm of the season, I watched as other vehicles were stuck, spinning their wheels, and sliding around in parking lots. Meanwhile, my van cruised through with ease. I even navigated the Tim Hortons drive-thru without a single issue, while others were left struggling in the snow. The traction these tires provide is nothing short of amazing—it’s like they’re made specifically for lake-effect snow!

What makes the Falken Aklimate tires even better is their versatility. While they dominate in snow, they also perform well on dry roads. Whether I’m cruising on the highway or maneuvering around Buffalo’s city streets, these tires provide a smooth, quiet ride.

As a commercial driver, I need tires that are not only reliable but also capable of handling the added weight of my van. The Falken Aklimate tires are built tough, offering durability and peace of mind during long drives in harsh conditions.

Considering their outstanding performance and reasonable price, these tires are an exceptional value. They rival, and even surpass, more expensive options.

If you’re on the fence, trust me—get the Falken Aklimate. They’re perfect for anyone facing tough winters, especially here in Buffalo. Thanks to Falken for making such a great product!

...These tires grip so much more than I expected, and really turned her CRV into a completely different ride...

Bought these for my wife's vehicle, and while she doesn't drive as hard or as much compared to me, she will absolutely fly around corners at times. These tires grip so much more than I expected, and really turned her CRV into a completely different ride.

The only downside I've found is that there's a very slight amount more of road noise than the previous ones, and that's confirmed from putting the old wheels with Michelin pilot sport a/s tires back on temporarily. It's not very noticeable unless you're paying specific attention to just that fact, and definitely acceptable considering how much better the traction is.

We live somewhere I swear people just love pulling out in front of you without looking. During the few panic stops with ABS kicking in, I can confidently say these tires are a 10/10 would buy again lifesaver.

...Comfort is also average. I get the impression that the sidewalls are a little softer than most and might respond well to airing down for snow driving. noise in the cabin was increased slightly from my previous tire...

Very impressed with these tires. Bought them for my AWD daily driver that gets driven up the I-70 corridor several times a year for ski trips, and to deal with the occasional snow storm at home.

In the dry, grip is pretty solid for braking and acceleration and is more than enough to enjoy a curvy road.

Wet performance is above average, but not exceptional. With good tread depth I have had no hydroplaning issues.

Fuel efficiency is average. I get about the same milage as I had on Pirelli Scorpions that were fitted prior to these.

Comfort is also average. I get the impression that the sidewalls are a little softer than most and might respond well to airing down for snow driving. noise in the cabin was increased slightly from my previous tire.

These tires really shine when it gets snowy. I fortunately had these fitted right before a very snowy winter 2024, so I got a lot of snow driving experience on them.
On hardpack, they had decent grip. I had no problems braking with a little ABS help, and were able to get moving on steep snowy inclines from a dead stop without any drama.

In deeper snow they did ok as well, there was some wheel spin required to get moving, but once the sipes packed out they would hook up and move.

On variable road conditions, they performed admirably. There was one case where I got stuck in a snowstorm during a 10-hour road trip from southern CO back to Kansas. There were 6" deep ruts in the snow, with hardpack and ice in the bottom of the ruts. I was able to keep a decent 40-50MPH pace without losing grip or feeling out of control. I did have to work to keep the tires in the groove to avoid getting bogged down, but they got the job done and got us home safe.

overall, solid choice for a 4-season tire that can perform well in the snow. probably not the best choice for places that get a "real" winter and need proper winter-only tires, but plenty good for a lower midwest state that sees some snow most years.

...All of the qualities of ride comfort, traction and braking have been above average compared to the non-dedicated snow tires I've used...

This tire has been a good fit for me as I needed a tire that had good ability to handle heavy highway snow occasionally even though my normal driving is rarely above two inches. All of the qualities of ride comfort, traction and braking have been above average compared to the non-dedicated snow tires I've used. Compared to other brands that might give slightly better gradees all around, the price on these was far lower and giving I think a better value.

These tires performed remarkably the few times it snowed or iced in NE Oklahoma. They sound like truck tires a tiny bit on the highway, but I kindof like it. Excellent treadwear. I rotated my tires recently and I can minimally tell the difference between the front and back tires. Will definitely buy another set for my next tire purchase.
