Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 Callouts

The Scorpion AS Plus 3 is Pirelli's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, SUVs and pickup trucks who want a smooth and comfortable ride with all-season confidence designed to go the extra mile, mile after mile. Specifically built for North American drivers, the Scorpion AS Plus 3 focuses on increased ride and noise comfort and longer tread life along with consistent traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions, including light snow.

Utilizing functionalized polymers, the advanced tread compound is designed to generate higher levels of traction and provide longer mileage than previous-generation tires. The carefully engineered, asymmetric tread pattern features minimized void space for maximum contact with the road surface to increase overall grip and improve wear characteristics. Larger, sequence-tuned shoulder blocks help improve dry handling while minimizing tread noise, and the optimized mold profile helps further distribute forces for even wear and enhanced wet performance. Evenly distributed grooves and channels are designed to work in unison for predictable wet performance and hydroplaning resistance. The Scorpion AS Plus 3 employs a variety of full-depth and 3D sipes focused on retaining slippery and inclement weather traction throughout the tire's life. Horizontal 3D sipes combine with vertical sipes in the shoulders for increased biting edges while retaining good clear road handling characteristics. Zig-Zag and deep sipes on the inboard tread blocks offer consistent traction as the tire wears through wet conditions and in snow and on ice.

The internal construction of the Scorpion AS Plus 3 consists of a two-ply polyester casing designed to blend handling with comfortable road manners. Robustness and high-speed stability are ensured by twin steel belts which are reinforced by two polyamide cap plies.

It's always hard to compare a new tire to a worn out tire, but these are much better than what came stock on the Durango. First off is the wet traction. With the stock tires, I was able to slide around when corning on the old tires. Now they have great traction in the wet. I never have a concern about traction in the rain. This is my first winter on these tires and I was really impressed with the traction. Prior to the Durango, I had a Pontiac G8 GT that I'd run winter tires in the snow and these seem to act as well as dedicated winter tires (granted, I do have 4 wheel drive now vs RWD). If you live in a cold climate, you should consider these tires. The one drawback would be a slight increase in road noise, though given the improvements in traction, it's well worth it. The noise was only a little louder and after a few months, it becomes normal.

...I have been pleasantly surprised by how well they handled in rain and snow... These are a huge improvement over the oem Toyo tires that were noisy and easily hydroplaned.

Purchased these tires mainly for the quiet ride. I have been pleasantly surprised by how well they handled in rain and snow. Had to make an emergency trip at the end of January 2026 from NC to IN got caught in a snow storm in WV and Kentucky these tires handled the snow like a champ when other cars were slipping and sliding they held the road very well and I made it through with no problems. Tire wear is yet to be determined but they seem to be wearing well 10k miles in. These are a huge improvement over the oem Toyo tires that were noisy and easily hydroplaned.

I chose these tires specifically because I travel to the mountains a lot and need to be able to manage difficult conditions like snow and ice. So far they have performed beautifully, just a little slip here and there on the ice. They are much better than any of the run flats I’ve tried for my AWD Sienna. Worth the risk of not having a spare.

...I can safely say they are smooth, quiet, comfortable, and in our current snow instills better confidence, less slipping and sliding!...

So much to be said. Purchased my Ram 1500 just over a year ago. OEM Bridgestone Duelers wore out after 27k miles. And I mean starting to bald, slip, drift in wet and snow. Figured I’d try to make it until fall. Nope, it was just too unsafe for Michigan winter. I stopped at my local dealer to price out tires. Then started researching tires on tire rack. I love the ratings and reviews from their team. I wanted an all around performer that is comfortable and good enough in wintery conditions. I broke it down to two, Defenders or the Pirellis. I was skeptical because most reviews were for SUV’s for the pirellis. Does it belong on a truck? Yes! Compared to the Duelers oem, load weight, speed, performance, treadwear is rated better in every category. Very similar to the Defenders and I enjoy getting the best for less so I went with the Pirellis. Plus the $80 instant rebate from tire rack.
Tire rack shipped the Pirellis straight to my preferred tire place in 2 days. Got them installed with a road force balancer. I can safely say they are smooth, quiet, comfortable, and in our current snow instills better confidence, less slipping and sliding! I am impressed so far and I’m very happy with them. I’ve only had them for a day but I will come back to comment on dry/wet weather and treadwear once spring hits. If you told me the tires would make such a big difference, I would have replaced the duelers much sooner. I’m very happy with my decision. Thanks Tire Rack and Pirelli.

...Wet traction is extremely good, and dry traction is even better...

Purchased as a replacement set for the stock Hankook Ventus 02 that came as OE from factory. These tires are one of the best sets I've ever purchased, rating right up there with the Scorpion 1's I had on my summer rims for a vehicle years ago. There is barely any road noise, whether in town or on the highway. Wet traction is extremely good, and dry traction is even better. Winter traction is about as good as you can get without them being a dedicated snow tire. Extremely impressed with the traction in snow up to 6-8 inches. I can't say enough about these tires, other than I would put them on any other SUV/CUV I may own in the future. Been a Pirelli loyalist for almost 30 years, and these tires are another perfect example as to why. 15k on them already (3 rotations) and all 4 tires are still at 8/32 depth. Exceptional A/S tire.

...They are quiet...

I bought these tires because of their high 800AA UTQG, as I was looking for long lasting tires that are quiet. After 24k miles, I would say I am very satisfied. The tires, when new had 11/32" of tread depth. They now have more than 7/32" of tread depth remaining. They are quiet and grip wet pavements very well.

They an excellent tread wear rating, they're quiet, and they're Pirellis! I'm coming from the stock Toyo tires that came on my RAV4 and let me tell you, these are such an upgrade. I was concerned that the better treadwear in these would make them louder as a trade-off but that's not the case at all. These actually seem quieter than the Toyo tires I had. I do about 20 minutes of highway driving every day to get to and go home from work so the quieter ride is appreciated. The Toyo tires were also among the worst rated tires for tread wear at 300AA but these Pirellis come in at 800AA so I'm looking forward to not having to replace tires again in 20k more miles. And lastly, you can't beat the price. Offer great tread wear and a quiet ride? Yes please! I haven't yet experienced a winter with these but I imagine they have to be better than the Toyos.
