Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The ProControl is Cooper's Grand Touring All Season Tire designed for a wide-ranging variety of drivers behind the wheels of family sedans, sporty coupes, CUVs and SUVs looking for responsive handling that puts them firmly in control of their vehicle. Engineered to provide long treadlife and deliver confident traction in any kind of weather, even light snow.

ProControl Callouts

Cooper's ProControl is crafted with an asymmetric all-season tread pattern designed to adapt to a variety of road conditions. The tire profile is optimized to evenly distribute weight along the contact patch to serve drivers with smooth, even wear. Sipes built to widen during the tire's wear life contribute to the ProControl's longevity-focused design by aiming to preserve handling over time. Four wide circumferential grooves rush water to the outer channels, evacuating it from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning. The higher sipe density in the center ribs delivers the biting edges necessary to maintain control in low-friction environments like snow and ice.

The internal construction of the ProControl is fashioned around keeping drivers in command, with its polyester body ply overlaid with angled steel belts to carry the strength and stiffness necessary for crisp steering response. The high turn-up polyester casing provides additional sidewall durability. A nylon reinforcement cap ply is vulcanized to the other belts to support handling responsiveness and high-speed capability.

I use Cooper tires exclusively and have been for many years, (CS4, CS5) and now "Pro-Control," because they hold their grip whether the conditions are dry, wet or snowy! I've only had these "Pro-Control" tires for 10,000 miles and I have no issues with them! The ride seems to be a bit smoother than the last CS5 tires, steering is precise and responsive, cornering is controlled and predictable and recovery is effortless. New England winters are a challenge to any tire and these "Pro-Control" tires do better than expected, I've tested them in light and heavy snow and they always have traction, granted, my RAV4 is AWD, but they still grab and go much better than the original tires the RAV4 came with! Overall, this "Pro-Control" tire is an outstanding, dependable, ultra-all-weather tire that performs well in all conditions!

...My search led me to find what I believe to be the best-in-class tires at price-point ($150-200 per tire) that checked all my boxes, with highest scores in wet driving conditions and great 70k mileage rating which is what I was looking for...

I wanted to try these tires because of the feedback of the reviews from current owners, along with Tirerack's road test, regarding performance in wet traction and hydroplaning resistance. Although this is the first Cooper tire I have used on a car, I did a lot of research when looking for a set of All Terrain truck tires before selecting a set of Discoverer AT3's from Cooper, which I am very happy with. When I found myself looking for a set of new tires for my small, sporty '15 Acura TLX FWD V6, these were my requirements: All Season versatility, affordability (under $200 per tire), handling performance in all weather conditions (wet traction being most important, snow/ice least). As for dry performance, I needed them to have above-average handling performance with a focused balance between tread life, noise and comfort. My search led me to find what I believe to be the best-in-class tires at price-point ($150-200 per tire) that checked all my boxes, with highest scores in wet driving conditions and great 70k mileage rating which is what I was looking for. Cooper has found the sweet spot for my needs yet again.

Though responsive and offering plenty of stability, a small sacrifice in overall handling and road noise in exchange for the increase in wet performance (handling, predictability, etc.) is worth it for me because I live in Western Washington. Home to frequent downpours coupled with horribly inept maintenance on road surfaces, often creating very dangerous hazards on all roads.

I can't comment on how these handling characteristics may change or how they will wear over time/miles, I will just have to wait and see. I have about a mile of gravel road/driveway to get to/from home with countless potholes, loose gravel, fallen tree branches, etc., so I hope these hold up to puncture hazards. They seem solid so far!

I have had many Michelin Pilot AS sets as a baseline for a great compact sedan tire, but found the competition has closed the gap over the years.

...Grip is really good, especially in the rain...

Cooper Pro Control tires are better than I expected . I’m a Michelin Guy through and through , but these Coopers are almost as good as Michelin’s Defender , and they cost a lot less . Grip is really good, especially in the rain . I don’t drive my F150 2WD in the snow , sooo … The only thing I don’t like about the Coopers is , Directional Stability . They kinda wander a bit . But, that’s not a big deal to me , especially since they are sooo good in the corners and under braking . I’m impressed , I really am . I wasn’t expecting them to be as good as they are , especially for the price .

...decent in light snow/ice... I got to test these after just 2 days in about 4" of fresh snow over a 25 mile drive - excellent start/stop, decent lateral traction in my AWD Ford Maverick. Not as good as a dedicated winter tire, but more than good enough.

Nice upgrade over the OEM tire. Very good on wet roads and decent in light snow/ice. Much better than OEM for hydroplane resistance. We don't get a lot of snow where I'm at, 3 or 4 storms a year but I got to test these after just 2 days in about 4" of fresh snow over a 25 mile drive - excellent start/stop, decent lateral traction in my AWD Ford Maverick. Not as good as a dedicated winter tire, but more than good enough.

...Wet/ dry traction is excellent and fairly equal, maybe a bit better when wet, as per usual Cooper characteristics...

I have been a fan of Cooper Tires for many years and have used them exclusively. The new Pro Control tires take the previous CS5's to a new level. Ride quality seems to be a bit softer and smoother for the RAV4 SUV. Wet/dry traction is excellent and fairly equal, maybe a bit better when wet, as per usual Cooper characteristics. Have no information on heavy snow because my Massachusetts town removes the snow before it accumulates. Light snow exhibits very decent traction, better than the earlier CS5's. Cornering is positive and predictable. High speed stability is excellent! Overall handling is about the same as the previous CS5's. Tread-wear will be discussed later. I only got about 35,000 from the CS5's so I'm hoping to get much better tread-wear with the Pro Control's. I don't think there's abetter tire than the Pro Control and certainly not at this price!

...Their dry performance was a definite improvement over the OEM tires...

I am driving my first SUV, prior cars have been mostly sports sedans. I bought the Mazda CX-9 because of the reviews that stated it was a SUV that drove with very sporty characteristics. The OEM Bridgestone Ecopia tires were disappointing, not the traction or handling I was looking for. I have about 500 miles on the new Cooper Procontrol tires and am very happy with them. They provide much more confidence in pushing the CX-9 harder in turns and driving in a touring style on back roads. Their dry performance was a definite improvement over the OEM tires. The real reason I was prompted to get back to Tirerack and provide this review was the performance the tires exhibited in the rain over the past couple of days. On both highway and side road driving in slick wind and rainy conditions. these tires excelled! I like to be an informed shopper when it comes to tires, but to be honest, I typically presume the tires are going to work, and I don't really pay attention to them once they are on my car. But the huge increase in my Mazda's performance in these wet conditions jumped out at me. The car maintained excellent traction and maneuverability while driving in the wind and rain and convinced me I had made an outstanding choice with the Coopers! I am very satisfied, and the fact that the tires are made in the USA doesn't hurt either!

...Smooth, quiet & very comfortable...

TIRES are great. Smooth, quiet & very comfortable. installed in early June so just about 3 months with 4000 miles on them. No snow yet, but great in the heavy summer rain storms. I did have to bring them back to the shop to be re-balanced because there was excessive vibration at 60 MPH and above. Was not happy about that, much, much better now. I will have them rotated at 6500 miles & then see if the balancing is ok or needs to be done again. I have had many sets of cooper tires on my cars in the past, never had any issues with any of them.

2017 Ford Fusion SE : Asphalt driving on these tires are quiet but driving on concrete is another story. Real noisy! Not a very good ice driving tire at all but is decent driving in the rain. Believe it or not I had no treadwear for the first 20k. I would compare these to the old Firestone Affinity tires from the late 90's.
