Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The ElectricDrive2 is Goodyear's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for drivers of modern hybrid and electric vehicles looking for tires that meet their vehicle's specific needs with a commitment to environmental considerations. The ElectricDrive2 is built with a minimum of 50% sustainable materials by weight and is engineered to balance sound comfort and tread life to maintain the low noise levels achieved by the vehicles' quiet electric motors. All for a tire designed to deliver satisfying year-round traction in dry, wet, and light snow conditions.

ElectricDrive 2 callouts

Goodyear's ElectricDrive2 takes an all-season tread compound and molds it into a redesigned asymmetric tread design built to provide longer mileage, consistent grip, and stability while improving wet handling and response over its predecessor. The ElectricDrive2 features SoundComfort Technology, a layer of sound-absorbing foam along the tire's inner liner to reduce cavity and airborne sounds to minimize interior vehicle noise. Wide circumferential grooves and large, lateral notches help evacuate water from the contact patch for increased hydroplaning resistance and enhanced wet performance. Additional siping built into the inboard tread blocks and shoulder increase the biting edges necessary for grip in wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

The internal construction of the ElectricDrive2 consists of twin steel belts atop a two-ply polyester casing. The polyamide reinforcement ply further stabilizes the tread to provide high-speed handling and durability.

...I have now driven it in wet conditions and found it to be an excellent rain tire. Very predictable. Good steering feel...

The last time I reviewed this tire was soon after I purchased it. I was interested to see if noise was an issue since several reviewers said it was. It was not for my Kia Niro EV. This tire was designed to reduce noise. I have now driven it in wet conditions and found it to be an excellent rain tire. Very predictable. Good steering feel. But, as noted, we use this vehicle mostly to run errands around town and only seldom take it on long trips. And the longer trips we have taken, have all been on dry pavement.

...Significantly better dry and especially better wet traction compared to OEM, with the only drawback being a bit less efficiency (although still very good)...

This tire has been a significant upgrade compared to the OEM Michelin Energy Savers that came on my Chevy Bolt from the factory. Significantly better dry and especially wet traction compared to OEM, with the only drawback being a bit less efficiency (although still very good). The biggest issue I had was initially one of the four tires I got had its inner foam lining separate and cause serious vibrations (within the first ~100 miles). It took the Goodyear store 3x additional visits to properly diagnose the problem and source a replacement tire. After that, I've had nothing but great experiences with this tire and likely will buy another set when the time comes.

Reasonably grippy in wet or dry, so long as you bear in mind these are all-seasons, not sport tires. The sound deadening foam inside certainly makes a difference, they are shockingly quiet! Be kind to them and they'll easily outlast the warranty mileage.

...Drove on some dirt roads last winter, snow covered but not wet, too cold, so it was packed snow. I liked the performance there, no complaints, no noticeable under-performance...

They are quiet compared to other tires used on my Prius. Prius is a loud car with any tire I've tried. This is my second set of ElectricDrive2 on 2 different Prius V's (that's the longer model, 5-door wagon, and it's taller than other P's) and the tread wear is impressive. Wifes rolled on our first pair for 15 months--I don't drive it much so didn't get a chance to check wet conditions. Drove on some dirt roads last winter, snow covered but not wet, too cold, so it was packed snow. I liked the performance there, no complaints, no noticeable under-performance. Hydraulic drive train gives P a feel that is more stable than my All-wheel and 2-wheel drive rigs. Have to repeat that these tires are wearing nicely. Got an alignment with latest pair, put the new set on the rear.

...The handling during transitions or taking off ramps at speed is really good. They definitely step up handling and balance of the vehicle in the dry vs the OE tires...

My focus for my Venza was to find a well rounded and balanced tire. Something that does well in anything with a focus on comfort and low noise. I was also looking for something that would have improved handling characteristics over the OE tires. I''m typically not a fan of Goodyear''s but after some research (including the TR video review) I landed on the ElectricDrive2. I don''t have many miles, not to much time in the wet and nothing in the winter. Anyway these are my initial thoughts. I feel the ElectricDrive2 are a really well balanced tire. They are comfortable and quiet on the road. On the highway and city they soak up bumps well while still maintaining composure. The handling during transitions or taking off ramps at speed is really good. They definitely step up handling and balance of the vehicle in the dry vs the OE tires. The few stints I had them in rain they did well. They also have rim edge guards to protect your rims. Which is nice. I feel these tires (so far) accomplish what I was looking to get out of them for my Hybrid.

...The Goodyear tire was firmer and more responsive, and they offered more confidence in daily driving... The Goodyear were definitely more performance oriented...

This tire was purchased to replace an OE set of Pirelli on my ID.4. The Goodyear tire was firmer and more responsive, and they offered more confidence in daily driving. The OE Pirelli tires were softer and more comfortable, and also quieter. The Goodyear were definitely more performance oriented. The biggest warning was that I lost over 20% range with highway driving and over 10% range in city driving. This is a much heavier tire than the OE Pirelli and has a much deeper tread profile. If you want a sport tire, this is a great tire. If you are concerned about efficiency in an EV, avoid this tire at all costs. I put 4500 miles of mostly highway driving and road trip miles, and I ran into some very concerning charging scenarios due to the range loss. I ate the cost of these poor EV tires, threw them away, and bought another set of the OE Pirelli tires at a much higher cost to restore the range.

...Wet traction is very impressive, and steering response is exceptional ( better than my old Pirellis), though overall dry traction is pretty noticeably less than the Pirellis...

I purchased these to replace my stock Pirelli PZ4 summer tires, and compared to these, the Goodyears are exceptionally quiet and smooth riding. They even seem to have gotten quieter over the first 500 or so miles, and traction has slightly increased as well.

Wet traction is very impressive, and steering response is exceptional (better than my old Pirellis), though overall dry traction is pretty noticeably less than the Pirellis.

So far in the first 1200 miles of ownership, my consumption is down from an average of 274wh/m with the PZ4s to 243wh/m with these, though I also went from 20" stock wheels to lighter 18" with these, so I'm not sure how much of this increase is due to the tires.

I haven't seen much if any loss/gain of miles due to outdoor weather can't make up its mind. I constantly check tire psi and have aligned every 5k miles (previous tires)...

I replaced replaced my original tires (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S w/about 44k miles on it. 255/35/21 & 275/35/21). Preparing to go on a long road trip I decided to go ahead and replaced all four tires to be safe. I have been doing research for about a month and always came back to the Good Year Electric Drive 2. I live in city driving about 60% highway but rest in busy not well help city roads. I saw immediate impact on how quiet the tires were on the hwy and how it observed rough roads in city. I am very pleased with them so far and happy with my choice selection. I haven’t seen much if any loss/gain of miles due to outdoor weather can’t make up its mind. I constantly check tire psi and have aligned every 5k miles (previous tires). The fill the rim better than the oem. Rain I didn’t see much difference nor with braking/acceleration. I don’t drive like a maniac and i adjust my driving style due to weather, road conditions and mainly drive conservative. I would recommend the tires. Price was reasonable too. Will update after my road trip coming up next week.
