The WeatherGrip is Firestone's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, family sedans, station wagons and crossovers looking to combine daily comfort, wet grip and satisfying tire life with enhanced light snow traction. WeatherGrip tires were designed as an all-weather tire to meet industry severe snow service requirements qualifying for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol alongside its all-season performance. It is Intended as a one-tire solution for drivers in environments that experience all four seasons, but don't receive sufficient snowfall or icy conditions to require a dedicated winter tire.
The all-season tread compound of the WeatherGrip is molded into a traction-focused, directional pattern. Firestone's Hydro-Grip Technology Package utilizes a rounded footprint that pierces through standing water, plus full-depth grooves and open shoulder slots to help resist hydroplaning. Chamfered shoulder blocks provide additional contact with the road for enhanced braking in all conditions. Snow Traction Claw technology on the center and shoulder ribs plus snow vices on the intermediate ribs help provide confident traction in light snow, while the high-density zigzag sipes and interlocking grooves of the TractionTech Package create more edges for enhanced performance in slippery conditions throughout the tire's life.
Internal construction of the WeatherGrip consists of a single-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A nylon reinforcement aids in handling performance and provides high-speed durability.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

I also hit a pool of water on the shoulder of the road and it channeled the water really well and no slippage...
I usually get the $600+ set of tires. These were about $89 each. I unexpectedly had to replace them and did not have $600. I was hoping that the positive reviews were true and went for it. I was completely surprised immediately how comfortable the ride was, like being on a cloud. Grip is extremely good. I also hit a pool of water on the shoulder of the road and it channeled the water really well and no slippage. I usually have the tires with the very fancy tread patterns and high mileage. I only have 500 miles but hope that it will last at least as long as the treadwear stated but so far so good. I was a bit concerned because I always go for the more well-known name brands but was pleasantly surprised and save a ton of money about half of what I normally would pay. Tires look great on my car also. You won't be disappointed. My third time buying on Tire Rack and I never left a review because those tires were good and to be expected because of the good reviews and the small fortune I paid BUT the discounted cost and great performance made me write this review because it could save someone money if they are unsure about this relatively unknown tire. I am good about tire rotations and wheel alignments so I expect these to last me awhile and even if treadlife is less than the more expensive tires I expect that I save $300 that can go toward another set of these. Only thing I would caution is going with the lesser known tires, if you have to replace one of them locally quickly, they may not be easy to find. If you can wait, then order another tire/s online and have it delivered. Hope this helps someone. Enjoying my new tires and especially more knowing that I got such a great deal.

These tires have pleasantly surprised me. I dont have power steering and the inputs feel a little too light and unresponsive, but not enough to be dangerous or problematic. They handle pretty well in the dry and provide decent sportiness for a cheap all season, but it is nothing to blow me out of the water. In the wet and snow I have been very impressed. I have had no issues in the wet and they are very confidence inspiring. In the few times I've driven them in snow they've gotten me everywhere I've needed to go with perfectly acceptible slippage and brakeing. I don't have ABS so the braking performance is greatly impacted by my abilities, but I found that, assuming I left decent following distance, I've never feared I wouldn't stop in time and I've made it up some decent snowy hills. They're not perfect, but they're very impressive for the price.

...I was skeptical of how well the tires would grip on the track given the very high treadwear rating of over 500...
It is very difficult to find factory sized 215/60 15 tires for my 1983 Porsche 944. A fellow 944 enthusiast recommended these tires so I bought them. I had a HPDE event approaching and needed tires. I was skeptical of how well the tires would grip on the track given the very high treadwear rating of over 500. On road, the 2 hour drive to the track was very comfortable given the 60 series sidewall. Noise was not an issue and the tires responded well to my steering and braking inputs. On track, I lowered air pressures to 31psi and the car handled very well. There was no over nor understeer and no wheel lock up under braking. The car is rather under powered at a factory rating of 143hp so there was no wheel spin on corner exits as well. I rebuilt the suspension specifically for street / track use. Koni yellow adjustable shocks /struts, larger sway bars, polyurethane bushings, 200lb coil over front springs, strut tower brace, and the stock rear torsion bars. The car has a road friendly alignment and stock ride he ight. These tires suit my needs quite well. If I tracked this car competitively, I would most certainly purchase a 200tw track tire.
