The Proxes RR is Toyo's Racetrack & Autocross Only tire developed for driving enthusiasts who compete in road racing and track attack events where high levels of grip in dry conditions is required.

While Proxes RR radials meet DOT requirements, they are not appropriate for highway use. Proxes RR radials are not recommended for driving in wet conditions where standing water is present and there is the risk of hydroplaning; drivers should drive cautiously at reduced speeds if they encounter these conditions. And like all Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, Proxes RR radials are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. It's also essential these tires be stored indoors at temperatures maintained above 15°F.

Proxes RR tires feature a high-grip tread compound molded into a semi-slick tread design including just two 4/32" deep symmetric circumferential tread grooves and multiple wear inspection holes in the slick areas. This race-ready design eliminates the need for tire shaving, however Proxes RR tires will benefit from heat cycling before competition to enhance wear and provide more consistent performance, as well as scuff-in during their first laps.

The tire's internal structure features a symmetric rayon casing construction to deliver predictable handling and consistent lap times throughout the tire's life while reinforced sidewalls deliver enhanced steering response and cornering stability. A marking area integrated into the sidewall design allows racers to easily label and manage their tires.

Additionally, their symmetric tread design and internal construction allows them to be mounted on either side of the car (and later be mounted inside out to further extend their life).

Toyo Tires recommends the following general set-up guidelines for the Proxes RR:

  • Operating Temperature: 160°F to 220°F
  • Hot Inflation Pressures: 32 to 38 (psi)
  • Camber: -1° to -3°
  • Caster: As much positive as possible

Note: Please follow the specific mounting and rotation guidelines provided by Toyo for their Proxes RR tires as recommended in the link below.

Customers Say

Reviews indicate the Toyo Proxes RR excels in dry traction, with drivers praising its strong grip, predictable handling, and consistent performance during track days, autocross, and HPDE events. Many note it maintains grip through long sessions and multiple heat cycles, though some report reduced responsiveness under combined inputs like trailbraking. Wet traction receives mixed feedback, performing adequately in damp conditions but struggling with standing water. Treadwear is generally praised for a competition tire, with users reporting 20-30 heat cycles and lasting multiple events, though heavier vehicles or aggressive setups may see faster wear. While not the fastest option, its balance of performance and value makes it popular for dedicated track use.

Tested the tires on an S turn on dry pavement and they handled excellent. My wife asked me if she needed to wear a helmet after that. The ride is smooth and quiet. My friend recommended these tires and drives for Uber. He has an Elantra and got up to 104,000 miles on his set of tires and rotating every 5,000 miles. Haven't driven in rain yet, So far I'm pleased with the purchase and will update when I get more miles on the tires.

...They have a stable and confident ride/handling and produce no more noise than the big brands...

With 20k miles so far (after one year of ownership) I have to say these are probably some of the better quality tires I've used on this vehicle. From what I'm seeing to this point I expect to get about 35/40k miles out of them - and that's significant considering I live in Phoenix where the pavement temps can easily exceed 150 degrees in the summer months.
On a cost comparison basis with some of the name brand tires, these are hands-down an excellent value for my needs. The money I saved on them easily pays for at least 2 rotations and balancing at the Lexus Dealership. They have a stable and confident ride/handling and produce no more noise than the big brands. I'm finding that they can go 10k miles in between rotations and the tread-wear so far is better than I expected.
If Vredestein maintains their current quality, I'll be a customer as long as I'm a car owner.

Excellent tires. Incredible improvement over previous tires on the car in terms of noise, handling, wet traction. And, the price was much better than Michelins or other premium brands. Easily as good if not better than those which I have traditionally purchased.

I switched them out at 50K miles with 4/32" remaining. Had I gone to 2/32" I probably could have hit 60K miles. With my driving style, I consider that to be pretty good.

I was happy with these tires. I purchased them based on price and reviews and was not disappointed. I switched them out at 50K miles with 4/32" remaining. Had I gone to 2/32" I probably could have hit 60K miles. With my driving style, I consider that to be pretty good. Generally I get about 75% of the rated mileage from tires but I blame that on my driving style. Had I driven more conservatively, I'm certain I could have gotten the full 70K miles. Based on that I gave them a 10 for treadwear.

When newer, light snow and wet traction was excellent for an all-season. This diminished over time but that's expected. Even at 4/32", they still did acceptable in wet weather. Road noise was slightly higher than average when compared to other all-seasons such as the Michelin Defender2 but only slightly. Dry traction was always good along with braking and cornering.

I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another set of these in the future.

I changed wheels and tires (to Verdestien) in hope that my Audi SQ5 would get more than 20k miles out of a set of tires. The OEM Audi 21” wheels with low profile tires maxed out at 20k and often less. I tried the Audi required Michelin, Yokohama and Perilli tires and none got more than 20k.

This is the most quiet tire I have owned. Wet traction is very good, with minimal hydroplaning. Ride comfort is great. Turnin is quick.

...Better wet and dry grip while cornering, accelerating and braking...

Comments and ratings are in comparison to OE Michelin Energy Saver A/S. Pros: Cheaper. Smoother over all surfaces. Better wet and dry grip while cornering, accelerating and braking. Slightly less sensitive to Bolt's inherent torque steer during hard acceleration. More aggressive tread for dealing with slippery muddy crappy driveways will be tested this winter. Cons: Slighly noisier with a hint more high frequency whshhh sound, but also slightly less of the lower frequency drone over coarse pavement. Slightly more steering input reqd to stay straight on freeway over rutted sections.
